First of all I'm annoyed by the fact that I bring in loads of clothing- many name brand- and they NEVER accept anything because "it's not the latest style or has some wear." I literally brought in a dress I purchased from them 4 months prior, never wore it, and they didn't accept it. It must have gone out of style after 4 months Some of my designer dresses look brand new and they didn't take them! Secondly, take a look at what's on the rack. Wow! Why haven't I explored this store before? It's absolutely amazing with their selection of gently used to new with tag items and best of all, for about 75% off of your department store prices! I generally am not a fan of pre-loved items and certain still not when it comes to certain clothing article but if you're looking for a cute el-cheapo spring dress, this might be the place. Their items are clean, they have dressing rooms, helpful staff, a rewards card/system for shopping at their stores, and they have all sorts of random clothing items you'll find in one visit at one place rather than at several. It's quite convenient! Some items I feel are a bit overpriced but they carry a good selection of premium brand items. And best of all, they don't look like they just came out of a closet that hasn't been touched since the 70s or 80s and only uncovered recently during an estate sale attempt. I've been here multiple times and have gotten nothing but nice treatment from the staff. I usually come in not looking for anything in particular but somehow, I always end up with a dress or 2. Tried to sell name brand items and was told not what they are looking for. Really? Waste of my time since I live quite a ways. Review shows they accept a wider range of brands, WRONG! These folks are much more pickier than their competitor Plato's Closet. Gather they were having a sale, it was not worth my time to shop after receiving my items back from them. I am shocked to see so many negative reviews of this store. I went in to sell some items and I had an excellent experience. At first I was a little bit upset because they rejected some really nice namebrand items in excellent condition. When I asked one of the workers, Hannah, who was the manager, she explained to me that they don't take a lot of brands like Abercrombie, Aeropostale and Hollister because they are generally catered to a younger audience and their store is more for women in their mid to late 20s. Hannah, was so kind, knowledgeable, and understanding and made me feel a lot better. She explained items that would be better to take and now I know moving forward. Found this gem next to platos closet. Beautiful name brand clothing. Calvin Klein, Ann Taylor, BEBE, Black&White..... honestly with the prices and the brands going to Macy's or Marshalls seems crazy. I had three very large containers of clothes. A lot brand new, with tags still attached purchased from women's departments. A lot more are brand new work clothes that I purchased however no longer need as I work from home. Out of all three large containers they didn't like one single piece and her reasoning was it was not name brand and was junior clothing not women's which is untrue. I didn't expect any less, however it is extremely frustrating to have brand new good women's clothing and be told it's not good enough. I brought in clothes that had never been worn and were stylish, recent purchases from Chicos, Ann Taylor and some boutiques. They said they had some wear on them and were not recent styles???? They were never worn and recently purchased. Since it was a Monday night and nit surprised how cleaned it was. Not sure what it would look like on a Saturday. My first time here. I found them from Fox 2 in morning and I have been looking for pieces to go back to work for so I tried them out. The store is very clean and very organized. They have clothing by sizes as well as colors (which is awesome). There prices are ok and fair. A little higher than I would pay for most used items, but they looked like they were in good condition and some items had tags still on. They also have a lot of name brands like purses, shoes, accessories. So that was nice. I don't really care if someone comes and greets me or not. I mean sometimes it is awkward when they keep bugging at some boutiques. My only problem was that I was carrying my coat and at least 6 or 7 pieces of clothing (4 which were blazer tops) and I was very obviously struggling. I saw two employees look at me and no one offered to help. No biggie...I could have easily asked them to hold them or get a room ready for me...But it is an added touch of Customer service when someone at a store approaches you and gives you a little added attention (I asked an associate at JC Penny's for a puffer vest and she walked me to three different departments till I found one--now that is customer service). I pretty much shop exclusively at thrift stores now. I can't even imagine paying more than $6 for a shirt or $12 for jeans! In the past, I was actually a big fan of Plato's Closet and ended up visiting a Clothes Mentor in Springfield, MO. It was clearly geared towards women of my fiscal mentality (see also: cheap) but didn't feel like I was in the junior section of Macy's. Don't get me wrong, I still shop there, too, but now that Clothes Mentor opened up in St. Louis, it's my go-to! Be prepared to sift through A LOT of junk, though. They're all great clothes, but not always your own style. Make sure you set aside some time. The guidelines for selling clothes is pretty rigid, so you know you're getting the latest styles and good quality merchandise. I've got a ton of Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Limited, Express, and J Crew clothing that I never would've purchased at full price. They even have a maternity section! The staff at both have been very helpful and each time the store is extremely clean and organized. I've gotten high end clothes, sunglasses and a purse and couldn't be happier with my purchases. I am a clothes horse, and have recently lost a lot of weight. many of my clothes didn't fit any more, so I sorted through my closet looking for the very best of everything I had to consign. I brought in 3 huge boxes of clothes that I had for work, and cocktail events. All either brand new, or only slightly worn. Some of the items had their tags still on them. Since I dropped many sizes, I bought a whole new wardrobe for every size I went through, so all of these items were bought within the last 2 years. Not only that but they were recognizable, respected designers. I had Ellen Tracy, Calvin Klein, Enzo, Ralph Loren, Liz Claiborne, Ann Taylor.. Coach, Guess, Ann Taylor Loft, etc.. etc... etc. BEAUTIFUL clothes. Out of the three HUGE boxes stuffed with clothes, They bought 12 items. So, I took hundreds of items home with me. I got $47.00 for the 12 items they kept. In the mean time while I was waiting.. I shopped. About 10% of the items were recognizable name brands, in decent, but not great shape. They were OK, and if they were my style and size, I could have worn them. But I would say about 80-90% of the items in the store were obviously old.. worn.. out of date. The most ridiculous thing I saw in the store was a whole wall filled with quilted fabric purses that looked like something a grandma would make and use. So, in conclusion, if you have nice.. current, name brand designers in beautiful shape.. don't take them to this store.. they won't take them. Instead, look for the items you would donate to St. Vincent DePaul, and take those instead. AND if you are shopping for nice second hand clothes, Goodwill would be a step up from this place. read more

I have been meaning to try this place as they advertise buying and selling plus size items. I took some items in to sell and it was a wait which was fine. I looked through the store and the plus size selection was blah. I left to do some other things and returned for my items. They offered to purchase 3 items for $8.00 two of which were dresses with tags on them with a retail value of at least $100 (I had intentions to return and never did). While I know I won't get retail I would expect more than what I would guess is 10% of what they will sell it for. I declined the offer. I would honestly rather give my items away for free or sell on FB for 5 to 10 bucks than let them offer such low value. Can't say I will return. I'll just stick to GW and Savers. read more
