Amazeballs. Great place, great atmosphere, great service, great food. Clooney eloquently puts everything together to give you a real dining experience. Of all the fine dining restaurants I've been to Clooney was definitely the most comfortable. The chairs, couches really are extremely comfortable, tables are huge so you actually have more than enough space for your plates and glasses. Lighting is very comfortable and pleasant to look at. The caramelised butter with bread here is to die for, wagyu tartare was amazing, I had the kingfish and blue cod which were both cooked to perfection. No complaints really. On top of the knowledgeable and helpful staff, Clooney is highly recommended and I would definitely come back again.

Really theatrical setting of the restaurant. The dinning area is stage for both food and you. Good for small intimate groups or date night. Food materials are incredibly fresh. A few 7 course options (vegetarian options available ) are the exact as on their websites. Presentation of the food is also gorgeous . Extensive selection of local wines for paring You can also make up your own 3/4/5/7 course meal from menu. Personally I really liked all the seafood and lamb. Less with vegetable course (although side salad is refreshing and nice ). Definitely worth experiencing .

Clooney is very much fine dining at its best. The setting is theatrical, with dark and dimly lit spaces separated by curtain walls. The menu offers several choices, from a la carte (which I opted for) to 5 or 7 course set menus. Saturday nights are reserved for degustation only. The service is top notch here, drinks arrived effortlessly and the food was delicious. Each plate was expertly prepared with seasonal and exciting flavour combinations. In between courses there were also complimentary tastings and palate cleansers from the kitchen. Definitely the sort of place I would recommend for a special occasion. One of Auckland's finest.

Our Eight Year Wedding Anniversary called for something special and so we went to the one place that does it for my Wife and I. Clooneys. New Chef - New menu - New outlook!! While I loved (and miss) their old menu/chef, the new dishes served were "a whole new world of flavours" and an elegant mixture of surprises and deliciousness! You have to be up for something different (if you've been before and are comparing menus) and totally approach it with a new zest because after - it was a totally different style of cuisine and culture than the previous. I (We) loved the textures flavours and presentations of each course. We ordered the 3 course a la cart BUT got a whole heap of extra "snacks" which by the end was actually very filling. Maybe a few very subtle changes could've been made to a couple of dishes to really hit home the vision (which I suggested to our waiter - lol) but it's always appreciated when you're able to see and feel the chefs love and passion on his plates which I felt I received as a customer. My Wife's coffee wasn't so good BUT we totally dug the special layered chocolate cake we received as an anniversary treat. Chocolate always wins a ha. Always a pleasure and a beautiful experience which is hard to find in my small Big city of Auckland!

    Gastronomic grandeur at Clooney.

I guess with a name like 'Clooney', it evokes a sophisticated guy with grey hair. This place certainly is sophisticated - we could not afford to come here normally, we just came with my wife's work and the bill was on them. Clooney is something special, a bona fide exquisite dining experience. We had our own booth which meant we all felt more relaxed and it made for a better evening. The service is excellent and made the dining experience that bit more special. As regards the food, it is superb. I got a beef fillet which came with truffle and it was melt in the mouth. My wife got the gnocchi which came with egg yolk and she said it was the best she'd ever tasted. By all means come here but bear in mind that the entrees are priced between $20 -$30 and the mains are all over $40. It's expensive but is a very memorable night out.

The degustation was perfect. Unobtrusive yet attentive wait staff. Easily my favourite restaurant in Auckland.

We ordered: Wood Fired King Prawn. The King Prawn arrived and it was beautiful and very large. It was served with a black peppered pancetta and a gremolata sauce of which both enhanced the grilled prawn. Not a drop was left. Mamma D's East Coast Beef Meatballs. They were big and filling. Some of the best meatballs served in restaurant. I thought they were packed a little tight. I loosely form mine when tends to ensure tenderness. The sauce was perfect and they went well the side dishes. Cacio & Pepe was served and it was the prettiest we had ever seen and probably the best we have ever had. Put it right up there with those served in Roma. Polenta - another winner and beautiful. It also went well with the meatballs. Creamy and delicious just wish we could have eaten the whole dish or had a kitchen where we were staying...that good. Baduzzi was hopping the night we were there. So glad that we had reservations...highly recommend booking.

The owner is from Italy and the care shows. The pastas are great and the highlight are the meatballs. They are huge so beware but delicious. We were yearly too full after the great bread to even think about the pasta but they were both great. There are two parts to the restaurant but we liked the patio area outside. Overall a nice spot for both lunch and dinner.

There was only one other party there and we got some little quinoa salad appetizers care of the chef which were fresh and light. The pulled oxtail was big and impressive for a starter, and quite tender and juicy. The ricotta and spinach ravioli was much smaller and the purees were light and dampened the strongish ricotta flavor to make the whole dish more subtle. I personally would've preferred something a bit tangy to counter the ricotta, rather just make it less ricotta-y. For mains, the Akaroa king salmon was seasoned and cooked PERFECTLY (crispy skin but still deep pink and juicy on the inside and the whole thing flaked apart)... I love the taste and texture of salmon and the chef really brought out the best of the fish. The large amount of lemon potato that came with it looked like a sauce or soup, but had the texture of thick potato puree and tasted pretty creamy. I liked it, but it was heavy because of the cream and felt like a lot more than an equivalent amount of mashed potatoes (good if you're hungry, but didn't make the dish feel very balanced). The Hawkes Bay lamb scotch fillet was cooked not quite consistently, as a few pieces were medium and some were medium-well. We prefer medium-rare. The stack of cooked veggies that came with it was juicy and flavorful, though. For desserts, the crème brulee was PERFECT and using manuka honey instead of sugar meant it was less sweet, which we preferred. The jasmine infused pineapple with coconut three ways was really nice to eat slowly and enjoy all the different flavors and textures... I quite liked the chewy coconut biscuits, especially when soaked in the juice at the bottom. Overall, really enjoyed our dining experience there. The waitress and chef were really nice to have a chat with on the quiet evening. The dishes were really well priced for the quality, even without a voucher. We'll definitely head back at some point. I want to give them a 4.5, but will round up in this case.
