We were staying in the Hilton so we ate breakfast here during our stay. I ordered off the menu having pancakes one day and French toast another. Both were beautifully presented with fresh fruit and flowers to adorn the main dish. The food was excellent. I also had a hot latte which was creamy, hot, and came with latte art. So good. We were seated at tables on the windows to enjoy the beautiful harbor views. Service was excellent.

The food was quite good although I had only vegetables. Wine selection excellent. Lovely view of the harbor. Know that if you order water still or sparking, you are buying a large bottle. Ask for tap water.

Made reservations for New Year's Day for party of 8 at 7 pm we arrived promptly ordered wine and it took 25 min for our wine. I ordered the lamb shared plate that came with 2 sides fries W cheese and broccoli the rest of my party ordered the fish/chips or catch of day with sides. We waited another 1/2 hr and the waiter brought us some bread plated it and left us for over 1 hr no communication whatsoever. When we asked what was going on he said bcuz I ordered the lamb and rest ordered seafood that caused the delay cause they wanted to serve at once really? So now I get my sides and lamb and it was completely cold the sides potato's fries soggy like they were sitting out for 1/2 hr the fish for 3 of my friends were cold as well and when we brought to his attention he started yelling at us that we were privileged Americans and the entire restaurant became very silent and I could tell they were in shock we left the table and paid our bill I never ate any of my meal and the mgr said he would comp the wine and address the waiter that served us. I was so upset since this was a selection that I choose and was in complete disbelief over what had happened ... I have run into others in my industry that have had similar experiences with this restaurant and becuz of location it is the only draw other than that run really fast as there are many others .... This is not a cheap place the price point will not match your experience. The mgr was useless and obviously the waiter has some hatred issues ...

The clams with spaghetti in XO sauce is excellent. I would order it again. The only thing is the portions were small.

After a long day out at the Hobbiton movie set we were exhausted and hungry. We decided out of convenience to head downstairs in our hotel to Fish just 2 floors down from us. Holy amazing best decision ever! This was the best meal we had in NZ. A great restaurant with a great view of the harbor. They quickly took our order and asked "if we would like some bread" we said sure. We then received a complimentary tasting from the chef duck liver. I was not a fan at all but I tried it hahah! We had bouillabaisse and cray fish truffle Mac and cheese both dishes amazing!!!!!! Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was because we were charged for the bread. I've been in situations like this in the past example Rome but in Auckland this never occurred in any restaurant so it was unexpected and not appreciated!

Ironically, this is the same place we would have breakfast in our hotel. I just thought it was going to be a mid of the run type joint. After a long day of being out and about as a tourist, we decided to stay in and have dinner at the hotel. Upon entering it was a major transformation from breakfast. it had a high end restaurant feel with outstanding service. Cary R had the crayfish Mac and cheese, which was delicious and if I didn't know would accept with slight disbelief it was lobster. I had the bouillabaisse and I have to say it was outstanding. Broth was rich and flavorful all fish was cooked the hot bright was poured over the seafood at the table. I highly recommend this place if you're in town.

We ate here the other day because we were staying at the Hilton and our room wasn't ready yet. The restaurant is upstairs on the second floor and is very easy to find. The view was phenominal and it is the sole reason I gave it 4 stars as the food was alright. For lunch I ordered the mushroom pasta and my boyfriend ordered the lamb rump. We thought both were just average and not as great quality as we would have expected. However the following morning we came here for a breakfast buffet and the food was far better! Lots of options for breakfast such as eggs, bacon, toast, dumplings, a potato pancake, yogurt, cereal, fruit, etc. they even had several juices or choose from as well as "shots" of different flavors such as watermelon, kiwi, etc. The view in the morning was just as fantastic throughout the day. I would advise going for breakfast or maybe dinner (we didnt get to try it though) and skipping out on lunch.

I had been to this space several years ago when it was called White. It was such a powerfully wonderful experience, I figured the new restaurant in the same location on the 2nd floor of the Hilton hotel under the direction of Master Chef Simon Gault and the Nourish Group would provide a similarly positive evening for the four of us. I was correct!! What a fantastic dinner and dining experience we all shared. I went in a few days early to select the "perfect" table for our dinner, and Oscar, one of the Managers was most gracious in escorting us around and we ultimately selected table 50, overlooking the harbor. Dinner started off with our table of four sharing the Tuna Tartar, $25, and the Ciabatta w/ emulsified tomato oil & aged balsamic, $8.50. The dip/spread was so light and delectable, we ordered some more wonderful bread to soak up the remaining dip. We were amazed at the air-light consistency and full flavor. A wonderful start enjoyed w/ a bottle of Clos Marguerite $74, which went down so well. Next up was a dozen plump rock oysters ( 8 raw, and 4 lightly deep-fried). This was excellently coupled with Te Mata Chardonnay, $16/gl, per Danny, our outstanding server. Our mains were similarly thoroughly enjoyed, and it was difficult to get a bite of our friends' plate, as they wanted to hoard it for themselves. We enjoyed (see photos): Hauraki Gulf snapper, $35; special fish of the day, $36.50; Akaroa salmon $34; and a Whole roasted Turbot (market fish), $45, accompanied with clams & mussels. A side of the thick cut fries, $7.50 and steamed vegetables, also $7.50 for the table. Danny suggested a new wine, a pinot gris for the table with our mains, and though we didn't care for it, and we subsequently ordered another bottle of the Clos Marguerite that we so enjoyed at the start of our meal, he didn't charge us for the bottle he opened for us!!! Dessert was the specialty of the house, the Nitro (White peach / mango / freeze dried mango), $21, and one hot chocolate fondant, $17 (see photos). This was a display of art coupled with chef mastery. A glass of port and sauterne finished the meal. A full 4 1/2 hours later we left, fully contented, sated, and happy to have dined here, having been served very well by the staff. As the name suggests, the focus is on seafood, BUT, they have many meat options, including 150+ day old ribeye (for two) I want to come back and try. I look forward to returning to this, and their other group restaurants, both here in Auckland, and elsewhere (Taupo and Wellington).

Wow what a wonderful spot that combines an incredible view. It was early in the season so we got a lovely table in the enclosed patio area. It has a beautiful fire pit. What a great way to while the evening away watching the sailboats and the ferries. The ciabatta is fresh and warm. The oysters are wonderful. We had two preparations. Au natural with vinaigrette and chili spice in pipettes. And then a baked oyster with bacon. Yum! The pine smoked duck breast is such a treat. Under a smoke glass. It is like having cognac with your duck. Incredible. It's accompanied by a terrific prosciutto with fig jam. This was such an incredible treat. The terakahi (sp.) ceviche with coconut milk and a lovely lime. The coconut creme was wonderful. Talk about umami. It was so terrifically unctuous. And interestedly was terrific with a Shiraz. The coconut milk is organic and light like a mousse. The service was terrific. Our server was super knowledgeable about wines and it was nearly a mini wine tasting. Well appreciated. The whole blue cod was wonderful. Loved the green lip mussels. And two other types of clams. It was great with a Chenin blanc. It was perfectly steamed. The white chocolate mousse with nitrogen cooling was so cool. Nitrogen cooled and then the mousse forms a hard crust. The dried mango was great and the Pinot noir dessert wine. Awesome!

    Snapper special.

Our second day in Auckland and we dined here to celebrate my 50th birthday! The hostess seated us in prime seating right up by the glass terrace with water views. Really nice ambience! We ordered the Babiche Sauvignon Blanc, the bread platter, the green gazpacho, and both of us ordered the market fish special of snapper served on top of kale, charcoal cooked cauliflower and a purée. Food was top notch. The decor and ambience was top notch. Service was somewhat slow. The table next to us had painfully slow service and we had to listen to them complain the entire evening. Our service was slow as well but not disastrous. The waitress explained that they were short handed and they apologized. We skipped dessert since portions were generous. A good but not great dining experience.

Not sure what to expect from a Hilton hotel restaurant in New Zealand and glad we gave it a shot. My first time having Cray fish and was blown away by how delicious it was, I thought it was better than lobster and had a smoother softer texture. We also had the monk fish, it was very delicious too but had a sauce that I didn't care for. This restaurant had great views of the bay, food and service were both excellent. I am sure we will be back next time in Auckland.

We opted for the 8 course (no drink pairing) and were absolutely wowed. Coming from the US, we didn't know what it meant to start a meal with "snacks" - this included venison roasted on natural charcoal with pine dusting, pacific coast oysters, large clam shells with a mouthwatering soup, and another whose name escapes me shaped like star anise. This was just how the meal began, the it was a journey through the flavors, textures, smell, and tastes of New Zealand, my favorite being the horse mussel. We ended the meal (after 2.5 hours) with dessert snacks of various textures and flavors. I was beyond stuffed and impressed. I was also surprised that we had to pay for our meal where we checked in and weren't given a bill or check. In the US, one rarely leaves the table without paying, but the trust and care shown to customers is unparalleled. As my husband and I were heading out, the owner, Michael who knew we were Americans, wished us a Happy Thanksgiving and shared that his wife had prepared pumpkin pie at his other restaurant in honor of the holiday, if we were interested. So kind. So full - both stomachs and hearts. Please visit if you're in the area.

Phil Clark, who worked under Michael Meredith and his front of staff partner (that has worked in a Michelin restaurant in Paris) now backs him in his new restaurant in little old NZ. Phil is happy to come out of the kitchen and chat to you after your meal which is a nice touch. While the setting says neighbourhood bistro with the quaint vege/herb garden out the back, the food is fine, modern and French. I ordered the scallops which came with crunchy kale, cauliflower puree and an amazing snow made of duck crackling (which I had to actually enquire about as I had no idea what it was). Apparently it is a mistake that Phil once made that ended up being a creative non-mistake he now serves. My duck served with potato dauphinois, baby beets, leek and raspberries with a dulce puree and sauce was absolutely to die for. My Lemon Meringue was unfortunately deconstructed and I am so over crumbs on a plate, I really dreamt of a lovely wedge. When will the fad finally be over?! However the flavour was good. By the time you would have read what I had to eat the menu would have changed as they specialise in what is in season. I chose the Pork cheek with seared scallops which had me worried I would be hungry even after 3 courses as it was very tiny. I definitely felt like I was having a degustation fine dining, the presentation was lovely. Then my main of Miso glazed Market fish with parsnip puree, smoked mushroom and bok choy had me excited. It was the most flavoursome dish I have had for ages and so perfectly balanced. A side of Brussel sprouts was great to sop up my puree. For dessert Yuzu curd with white chocolate sorbet and poached quince was a perfect pallet cleanser and a lovely ending. 3 courses with a side was plenty big enough for me - a female. Maybe a little small for my male friend with a healthy appetite. The wine menu was a little limiting; I loved the little wine bar with sink used as a champagne wine bucket. The only downside was the noise from the adjoining bar 151 when the band started up. I'd go again to see what delectable treats were next in store though.

Finding the door to United Kitchen can be a little adventure on its own. As long as you're alert that it's a bit of an Alice in Wonderland trip, you'll notice the hanging sign on the door from Anglesea Street in Ponsonby. We pushed the door boldly only to stumble back a little as it leads straight into the United Kitchen kitchen. It's a little strange, it'll make you feel a little taken back, but you'll soon be reassured by the nearest chef. As a small restaurant, it's highly advisable to book. It seemed quiet at our dinner friendly time of 6:30pm but within half an hour, the house was filled up. Not to worry about having tables so close that you feel like you have to flash a friendly smile at your neighbours. The tables are angled and spaced out enough so you can have intimate or inappropriate conversations without sideway looks from your friendly neighbours. United Kitchen is famous for the fixed $55 three course menu that lets you pick any of the entrees, mains and desserts for the flat rate. It's a step up from $45 when it first opened but still worth it for the calibre of food. The menu changes regularly to accomodate for the locally sourced and seasonal food ingredients. Wild mushroom gnocchi with hazelnut with swiss chard was my choice of entree. A great call if you love mushrooms like me. Eat it slowly and savour the dish with just enough on it to satisfy the hunger, but make you wish that you could re-order the gnocchi as your full main. While on a different day I would have opted for the beetroot risotto, I couldn't resist the sound of the braised beef cheek with smoked potato puree, pickled red cabbage, brocollini and almond. Ahh, the touch of a beautiful cooked beef cheek that falls apart delicately in the mouth. The sauce was a little enthusiastic and the pickled red cabbage made my tastebuds zoom in the other direction but that was somewhat offset by the potato puree. Otherwise water glasses were promptly refilled. For dessert I had the yuzu curd with white chocolate sorbet and poached quince. I also had a generous spoonful of the bitter chocolate mousse with citrus salad, yoghurt foam and hazelnut crumble. The chocolate wins without a doubt. It wasn't too rich like most chocolate desserts. I wished there was an extra dollop of the dark chocolate mousse though, it was that good. Thumbs up for United Kitchen. The food is quality and thoughtful. Being a step away from the central Ponsonby buzz, it's perfect if you want a more private dinner before drinks with friends.

Delicious. Next an 'all root salad" served cold but think it would be a lot nicer served warm. My partner had the pheasant pate. Great. The mains were OK. The eye fillet was perfectly cooked. The market fish dish was a little tame. A lovely place to eat out. The service was really good. I do love to try new places and I'm glad I tried Euro but it wasn't enough to make me crave and want to go back to order a particular dish again.

It's quite rare these days to go to a degustation - let alone a Chef's Table Degustation. Paying so…read moremuch for a meal, there's the expectation of stellar food - which sometimes explains the hefty sigh that would follow an overdone steak. Or the chance of having that knowledgeable but icy waiter who makes me mirror it in the most awkward stretched-smile-kind-of-way. A super special occasion or a yearly treat would justify going. For me, it was to reward a hardworking momma who had been busy looking after an energetic ball of cuteness, otherwise as known as my nephew. Euro had revamped their menu late last year into a gluten-free dining experience that promises the same indulgent flavours without the dreaded food coma afterwards. This new food ethos echoes the recent food trends of healthy eating and people being more educated and aware of what they are ingesting. I'm all for it, dining out and less guilt. We were seated on bar stools along an L shaped table around the kitchen, giving the allusion of watching a private chef at home. Our two chefs were brilliant - boisterous with happy energy that rubbed off on the 10 guests. Everything was explained as they cooked. I could ramble on about each of the 10 dishes but you can check out my full blog for descriptions. At first I found the food almost bland, especially when I faced the greenness of the cucumber and kale sauce in the second course. But after my tastebuds adjusted, I realised I was used to the expectation of the overly salty and seasoned food when dining out. My first surprise was the red pepper egg in the Red Tomato Consomme which pops gently when you pop the whole thing in your mouth. These flavours were light but tasty - there wasn't the overload of flavours, just clean and fresh ingredients. As the courses went along, the flavours got more heavy and food more creamy and dense. We weren't served any form of carbohydrates until the 7th risotto course -although faux spaghetti was spotted before that, which was a dream accompanied with the quail breast. The big perk of a Chef's Degustation is that everything is well personalised. Before serving the wagyu, the chef promised one of our well-built male diners that he will most certainly be full after the degustation, otherwise she'll personally make him a burger. The wagyu, while looking tantalizingly small, had my taste buds going from the moment it started searing on the pan. I cannot resist it, I am a carnivore. Eating at Euro, you'll observe the use of fancy glass gadgets and liquid nitrogen smoking up the kitchen. It's more like a show than any other dining experience I've had. Even when one of the irreplaceable expensive contraptions broke, the chefs were calm and made do with something else. Huge ups for keeping it together and thinking quick on their feet! At the end of the night, we were even given an extra course - cake pops along with a personalised chocolate message to each of our guests. Whilst my sister in law's one read "Happy Birthday", I got a cute one which said "Just Because". To round off the night, a mini burger was delivered to the male diner for being a good sport, even though he insisted he was full. Needless to say, I loved it at Euro. Princes Wharf hasn't got the pulse of Federal Street, or the glam of Britomart. But understated elegance has always been what attracts the business people that come here for their after work drinks. Don't be intimidated, change up your dining scene and head down to this area for something special.

I had a light bite to eat and some refreshments. I didn't really come for the drinks or the food, which were all decent. What drew me in was the exterior and the interior decor. There's a hip vibe but a warmth that envelopes you upon entry and you just want to stay. It's has almost a tree house coziness to it.

I had scallops and it was very refreshing and tasty! My colleagues had snappers and that looked amazing too. The ribs that one of my colleagues had was great too and fairly substantial too. I am though slightly disappointed on the sides like its caesar salad... and the rocket greens. Nothing much to wow for. The Dessert was good. As for their wine menu... guess its the beginning of the week and they were due to refresh their stock... :P we ordered two wines and they ran out on both of our selected first option. oops... The environment was great! loved the seating space overlooking the harbour. Great relaxing hangout place. Thank you for looking after the team this evening. Gold Star!
