Intellectually Dishonest. I ordered the "First time Haircut, which is a $45 promotion." Arrived on…read moretime, checked in, presented with a beverage, sat down and waited. 15 minutes later, received a cancellation text, so I walk up to the desk and inquire. She checks it out and sorts it out with the stylist, and so I'm up and go to the chair. Stylist apologizes. And proceeds to tell me how she's had a bad day with first time haircuts, and had two "No Shows." And proceeds to tell she had feared I was the third... Perhaps they received a similar text while waiting in the lobby... So I sit down, and she asks me a few questions related to medical history, diabetes? High blood pressure? Hemophiliac? And ask about allergies to lavender or other oils. I let her know I do not do CBD anything, and she says she will note it in my profile. She then proceeds to ask me about my hair and how I would like it. I provide feedback. And then gracefully proceeds to asks me what are we doing with your beard, so I provide feedback. I get my haircut and my beard grooming completed. Upon the completion of this service, it is now time to pay. I walk up and she says, your total is $90 and how much would you like to tip? I respond, "haha, II got the "First Time Haircut" promotion, but the cancellation text might have affected the price." She lets me know, "yes we have you for the promotion first time haircut, and that usually runs $xxx. And you also got the first time beard promotion which is also $45 and usually runs, $xxx. And then the cashier chimes in, but you can switch to the membership for two services for $67/month, but you'll have to remember to cancel or you'll be automatically charged next month. So at this point, I don't trust their business practices, because it appears they are being intellectually dishonest with the customers. A little bait and switch... With the first time customers who are unfamiliar with their cost structure. So I take my licks, pay the full price, tip the stylist $25 cash cause the time in the chair getting a haircut and beard worked well, so I tip well to let them know, you could've made a lot more in tips from me in the future, had you been honest with me. I don't see myself going there again, unless I'm in a bind. Anyway, proceed with caution. Honestly, I like the haircut. I like the beard trim. She did a great job. I probably would've left with a membership, but I don't do business with companies/staff I can't trust.

MD Barber has been around for well over a decade, and after several visits I can see why they've…read morebuilt such a loyal following. I usually walk in without an appointment--which isn't really how they prefer to operate--but they've always managed to take good care of me. From Jesse to Jose, the crew is friendly, laid-back, and genuinely skilled. They don't rush you through the chair either. Expect about 30 minutes of attention to detail: trim, haircut, hot foam, and a clean razor finish. You get the full MD Barber experience, and it shows. The atmosphere is just as entertaining as the haircut. The barbers are constantly joking with each other, the conversation is lively, and yes, the language can get a little colorful. During my last visit, Austin Powers was playing in the background, so every now and then you could almost hear, "Yeah, baby!" fitting perfectly with the vibe. If you're looking for a polished, silent spa experience, this probably isn't your place. But if you want a quality haircut, plenty of laughs, and a classic neighborhood barbershop with personality, MD Barber is a great choice.

Your cut will be top of the line and best spot in town hands down. I come here every time I'm in town and schedule cuts accordingly. Mizael is my go-to barber. YOU CAN EVEN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FROM YELP! ----- So M D Barber (MDB) is one of those spots that if you knowingly are aware of the type of place and what they offer you'll have a solid 5 star experience. Taking a look at a few other reviews and for me personally I think many of them didn't take the time to do some follow-up research because not once in my 10+ visits the past 1.5 years (I travel a bit back home as you can tell) have I had a bad experience or anything that caught me off guard. I'm certain if most of these folks took the time to find out ahead of time they would be a lot more understanding. MDB is a PROPER BARBERSHOP. Don't expect some hispter vibe or some place that is trying to be more than what it is. This is not a family friendly environment; although, you can bring your little one(s) to get haircuts up to a certain age. The youngest I've seen is about 8 years old TBH. ONCE AGAIN You're gonna hear some raunchy banter, you're gonna crack a few jokes and have some off-the-wall conversations. The barbers are gonna chat with each other and with fellow customers. But you know what you are gonna get? A DAMN GREAT HAIRCUT WITH BAD ASS CUSTOMER SERVICE. The family at MDB take a lot of pride in their work and they're meticulous AF in their craft. This isn't a commercial salon where everyone is in-n-out of their chair within 20-30 minutes. If that's more your speed GO ELSEWHERE. Honestly it boggles me when folks want that type of haircut to begin with. Your hair is like a billboard to the face I always preach. I recommend you prepare for a 45 minutes haircut and if you didn't make an appointment ahead of time, expect longer. This place is primarily an appointment operated business. There's a reason for that. You're gonna walk out with one of the best cuts you've had. They do accept walk-ins when they have space but just be aware you may be waiting a bit as a walk-in. I once had a last minute event and my wait was about 45 minutes so not too bad. I've been going back to Mizael for a few times every time I'm in town and prioritize grabbing a cut from him when visiting. The way he cuts hair is great, but it's his fading on the sides that's made me a loyal patron. Some of the best work IMO. Many of the barbers here extend their contact information where you can simply text them. They also offer shampoo/wash for a small fee which I grab every time. If I was able to pack up MDB and take them with me wherever I travel around the world I'd do it in a heartbeat. See y'all in Feb for a wedding in town.

My female hairstylist used a disposable razor for my skin fade instead of a straight razor like the rest of the people there. She did not bother making an effort to have a conversation with me and cut my scalp during her razor phase. My husband sat down and showed the employee the type of cut he wanted. She looked a little confused but said she knew how to cut it the way he wanted. (He was going from a comb over to a fade) She cut here and there and like 3mins later she said she was done... uhhhh, I'm looking at her like that does not look like the picture he showed you... my husband and I look at each other puzzled wondering what she had done. I then reexplain to her to cut the top off since it was very long and to PLEASE fade the sides and make it look just like the picture because that's what he wanted. All in all we paid 12 plus tip (we still tipped even though she messed up his cut) for a haircut my husband didn't like.. there was so much confusion and I don't understand why. She works at a barbershop but doesn't know how to cut or fade hair? She was friendly though!
