Our home Y is the one in Fairfield but we venture over to this one now and then and it's always worth it. They have better childcare hours, too.

If you want to attend the class you need to sit by your phone or the app, at a certain time, and vie with others to get one of the spots. If you don't get one of the spots, they will put you on a waiting list. But, if people are not going to show up for the class, they probably won't call the desk to cancel. I suggested that they add another class/instructor but they seem to be saying that that was also not possible. I probably won't be staying around long since this is the way they run things. No ill toward anybody, it's just not a good way to do business.

It was uncalled for and rude to scream like that even while the male employee sitting by the scanner watched as my husband scanned 4 different cards and told her he seen us scan in. This happened on the same day that my daughter and I just walked out of the restroom and a teenaged guy came walking into the women's locker room like he belonged there (June 16 or 17). The mother followed a minute behind and was complaining that their huge cooler on wheels hit the corner every time they walked through the locker rooms (so how many times has this guy walked through!?). It's disturbing to me that this is a vulnerable place for women yet this clearly male presenting 16-17 year old was comfortable walking in. The women's locker room entrance is right in front of the desk, how did the screaming employee not say a word to him but yelled at me to triple check that I signed in. I will not have to keep constant eyes on my daughter while in the locker room. The place is small, the rules are many, and the other patrons aren't ideal. Some people there expect special treatment and act out of they don't receive it. A lot of mothers dress super inappropriate and don't watch the 4+ kids they always have with them. The weight/machine room is small and people are extra rude by not wiping down anything when they're done and kids often treat the machines like toys. The pool is nice but a lot of kids (the ones being ignored by parents) aren't very well behaved and families very much enjoy blocking the pool stairs. For the cost of a membership, I expected more. I would like to see better enforcement of pool rules (indoor and outdoor), a larger workout room with more/better workout equipment, a watchful eye for the dressing room, open gym time, and just an expansion overall so it's not so cramped all of the time.

The staff is friendly and smiling, the rooms an facility always clean and comfortable. Great place to exercise and make friends and have gotten to know some of the helpful staff. There are two indoor pools. The "warm pool" amd the lap pool with 6 lanes. There is also a sauna and a whirlpool next to the lap pool. The locker room / shower area was recently rennovated. Interestingly, the cornerstone by the entrance doors says 1969. This YMCA has changed and expanded over the years. There is an air-conditioned basketball court / gym and area with exercise machines. I do not walk around with bare feet. I wear socks and sandals with good trackion (even in the shower) having learned to take care of my feet.

I attended a cocktail 101 class with my wife and loved it! Most staff are pretty nice. My only big beef is that the cafe inside had better hours. But I love the indoor walking track. The local police are there everyday to make sure everyone stays safe and that gives me much comfort for my lgbtq family. Lots of parking outside and plenty of handicap spaces as well.

In recent years, the YMCA has instituted a policy that allows you to use your membership throughout the country. So, even if you are away from home you can still keep to your workout regimen. I have since used my membership when visiting family and while on vacation. This particular location has some of the best facilities in the area, including pools, steam rooms, exercise equipment, and racquetball courts. I find myself at this location every other week, even though it's not the closest to my home. For improvement, I'd like to see them get a couple racquetball rackets that aren't wonky. It's a bit dodgy if you don't bring your own.
