I joined this Y about three months ago because it's the only Y in Cincinnati that offers the EGYM circuit machines. It's been phenomenal! After obtaining a special wristband to coordinate the machines for your personal goals, staff takes you through the 11 machines, which offer a total body workout. For me this is about building bone density and strength. They also offer both indoor and outdoor pools, along with MANY classes, and children care. Tons of free parking. Great staff! read more

I joined to attend water fitness classes. Their signup process is inefficient and cut throat. They don't have a semester or a specific term. If you want to attend the class you need to sit by your phone or the app, at a certain time, and vie with others to get one of the spots. If you don't get one of the spots, they will put you on a waiting list. But, if people are not going to show up for the class, they probably won't call the desk to cancel. I suggested that they add another class/instructor but they seem to be saying that that was also not possible. I probably won't be staying around long since this is the way they run things. No ill toward anybody, it's just not a good way to do business. read more

It has everything you need compared to other gyms. It has an indoor and outdoor pool. Most gyms don't have both. It also has an indoor walking track and sauna. The price is more expensive compared to most gyms but it comes with so much more than most gyms. It's also not cringe like a lot of gems. It's very family oriented and has a mixer of all ages. A lot more older people attend compared to some of the popular gyms where it's all young adults. You can also bring a guest 6 times a year for free and buy another guest card when that one runs out. I would definitely recommend it. read more

I have been a member of the Blue Ash Y for years, but, sadly, I think I am leaving this summer. The indoor lap pool, Ferris, is the best. There are several lanes, a whirlpool and it is an adults only space. I love children, I do, but women's rooms crowded with children just aren't relaxing. This summer, however, they are closing Ferris at 1:00 on weekdays and completely on weekends, which leaves many of us with few options. The outdoor pool at the main bldg is ok, but at 1:00 it is filled with energetic campers and only 3 lap lanes not to mention the condition of the women's locker room. Swimming is a form of deep relaxation for me, not a time for stress looking for an empty changing stall or shower. read more

It's my home gym. I work out here and have access to all of its amenities. The people around this Y are helpful, polite and courteous. Some may complain that it's out of date (true..but their working on that) but it's still a place to get a great work out and meet many friendly faces! Lot of great things going on here! read more

With low back issues and three small children, i've been on a quest all over town for a YMCA with a hot tub and childcare. Finally, I found one at blue Ash! The only problem is that it's 20 miles away from my house, and I'm not sure if it's worth it to take the 30 minute drive up there. Other than that, this place is great. Childcare is very good. The gym itself is spacious and one of the best in the city in terms of the Y's. Locker rooms are big and clean. Steam room and sauna are also available and in good shape. If you go to their second building, they also have a hot tub of good size. What I didn't know my first time was that it is ok to put your kids in childcare and go to the Ferriss building to swim. Excellent YMCA, staff has always seemed happy and friendly. There's also a nice spot in the lobby with wifi to work if needed. read more

Okay, this is not an upscale facility, but it's a Y!! What I love about it is that the rates are reasonable. We pay about $94 per month for a family. They have an indoor pool with warmer water in the main building, and another indoor pool in a separate building. If you want to swim laps, go to the other building! It's the Ferris bldg. and is great for laps. The main pool has more kids classes so I am always wondering what else is floating in the water. The Ferris pool is used by the swim team, water aerobics, and lap swimmers. Yes, the locker/shower room is old, but it's okay (and I'm pretty picky). People are nice about sharing lanes if they are all occupied. In the summer, the outdoor pool is sometimes available for lap swim with 50m lengths. That's pretty rare! I've also used the workout area with the typical cardio equipment, machines, and free weights. I think they have a pretty decent selection. Plus, they have spin classes where the instructors are very helpful. Enjoy the TRX classes too! read more

It's an ok facility. I remember when I was younger, it was a lot bigger! They used to have roller hockey and basketball courts in the back, but now its all gone! Its mostly just a pool and large exercise area now....if you want a good gym, head to Countyside YMCA in Lebanon. read more

I am slowly making my way to every YMCA in Cincinnati. It's not on purpose, but I must say the convenience of having several around town that I can go to is great. The lack of consistency at each facility is rather mind blowing. Some have dozens of treadmills, some have three, some have clearly marked workout areas while others look like a partially renovated prison where convicts might still be present. The only thing they all have in common is that their buildings are a maze of rooms and doors that either lead to a dark empty room with no light switch in sight or a brightly lit workout space smelling vaguely of gym class and sanitary wipes. Blue Ash gets its first star revoked for having an unnecessarily convoluted parking lot. You start down the road, then reach a fork and must decide if you want the main area or the aerobics building. I have only gone to the main area and that is where the treadmills live. Since the equipment overhaul to nearly every Y earlier this year, all of the equipment is pretty new. Their stuff and things are top notch. Their decorator was obviously intoxicated, and that's where they lose the other star. The arrangment of the treadmills at this Y creates a sense of pack running. They are all squished together in one corner and face a huge bank of mirrors, so bring your headphones and focus on your tv or you get to enjoy a sea of sweaty humans appear to chase you on their ellipticals, other treadmills, bikes, and other apparatuses. In general, I don't mind the quirkiness of YMCAs-the idea that they have been kinda cobbled together over time is fun. But sometimes you just want to be in your own little world and not have to interact with your fellow gym rats. This Y is set up to ensure you have to say excuse me at least twice a visit. Great if you are in a time crunch, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Be careful when purchasing membership. I bought a membership only for the swim lesson package. The terms of the membership fee withdrawal dates were kept vague during purchase. The person handling my credit card made an error and this was fixed by some one else who changed the withdrawal date without letting me know. I want to cancel the membership a month later and now a refund has to be processed. The director won't talk on the phone! She is asking me to meet her in person during my work day. The Y's policies are enforced to charge you the max and refuse refunds. read more

I both love and hate this Y. We have a family membership and I give the kids classes and programs a 5+ star rating. I use the equipment and also give that a 5 and my wife does some spinning, etc, and I would also give that a 5+. The people in the facility are also very nice (both the workers and the people that come), you would never feel like a meat-market or fashion show there. However, their actual facilities leave something to be desired. Their pools could use some serious updating and the men's locker room is horrible. Is this 80's gym class all over again with 1 huge shower?! Also, why don't some of the old men put a towel or clothes on when they walk around, kids don't need to see their nakedness in their faces! Let's get some individual shower stalls and the naked men can be naked by themselves and leave me/my kids out of it. Additionally I mentioned towel service to them as I always forget my shower or workout towel (heck I'll pay for it) and they said they can't because they're too large - nonsense, I went to the Y in DC, which has 5 huge floors and more members and they have it. At $85 for a family I am close/equal to the cost of Urban or LA Fitness, if I didn't have the use for kids classes I'd be gone for better facilities that are even closer to my home. An older facility, could do with a renovation of the locker rooms, had plenty of treadmill and nautilus equipment, no small towels for the runners though, beware of the age limit of the super small free weight area (13 and older?), there's a grouchy older staff member that's forgotten it's a family facility and takes his job a bit too seriously, other than that a nice place, I would return for a workout when in the area. read more

This is your typical YMCA facility, pool, fitness, racquetball, track, basketball, etc. This location is getting 4 stars for the staff. Being in the area for work purposes and wanting something better then the small limited fitness area at the hotel I contacted the YMCA. They provided free weekend passes and a great temporary pass option for myself and crew, hard to find a fitness location that will do that type of thing ;) read more

I do like this YMCA. The staff are great and it has new features in the newer buildings. However, the main building is really rundown and it's time for a remodel. But, it does have everything you could want. Indoor and outdoor pools. a separate kide pool. Saunas, locker rooms and showers. Basketball, tennis, and racquetball courts. A kids club hangout and a baysitting area. Lots of studios with a wide range of classes including a state of the art cycling studio. The main building and main pools just need an upgrade. read more

I called to find out it there is a wheelchair Hoyer lift on the outside pool. I use a wheelchair and can't stand. The guy had no clue what I was talking about. He said it was wheelchair accessible. I said does it have a ramp to get into the pool or a lift? He said no. Then I said it is not wheelchair accessible. OMG...get on the ball people. Clermont county haa a lift to get disabled people in the pool. That is accessible. read more

There are two pools and people jostle for space in the weekday evenings. E.g. on Mondays, half the main pool is used up for scuba lessons with adult lap swimmers having to share the three remaining lanes, often two or even three people in each one. Also, the divers don't know where they're going and swim under the lap lane markers, hitting lap swimmers with their back equipment and flippers. Of course if you want scuba lessons and swim team that's fine. It's the open hours/lap that can get crowded. Watch your back in the yoga classes also, the instructors may be more interested in advanced moves for their own benefit or inexperienced at teaching all levels. Downward facing dog and forward fold are not for beginners. Even intermediate yoga students should be careful not to overdo such spine bending. (This can happen anywhere.) Cons: Crowded. Local private gyms, such as LA Fitness, are less expensive for adults. Pros: Good for families with children, but as with children's sports programs everywhere, check out the coaches and instructors and stay watchful. read more

Not the best gym around cincinnati in terms of size, but definitely better than most joke-of-a-gym places around town. Although they do not have as many cardio machines as places like planet fitness, they have way better weight machines. Although there aren't as many machines as some places, they are better quality. And what truly makes this place stand out are the barbells. They actually have free weight barbell benches and a power rack for squats unlike most gyms around cincinnati with their worthless smith machines. Way to get it right blue ash ymca. Other than my high school, this is one of few places I know of/have access to around town that do it right. If this gym wasn't so crowded at times due to its small size, I might consider giving it 5 stars. read more

Pay no attention to their open gym schedule, they don't. Some who work there don't even know what it is. After about 30 years of membership, I suppose it's time to move on. Like to shoot basketball for a few minutes after lifting during "open gym" time. Always Friars Club personal trainer using half, today mats and bowling pins being set up on other half, well before end of open gym time. Have run into same on Saturday mornings, an unscheduled work out class. Asked guy at desk once, "well, it's supposed to be open gym time, but... " Had no answers. Been happening for years. I really enjoy to shoot basketball there but, it is barely ever open. One time I called and they said the gym was open so I got my dad to take time off of work to take me and I got to the gym and these men were playing a full court game and dominating the entire court. Every time I'm there if it comes time their closing I get kicked out of the gym immediately but when the adult gym is over, they allow them to continue to play as long as they would like. It's terrible. read more
