The security doesn't do much and it feels like an unsafe location at times just at par with the one in Downtown . The shopping carts are never there and its hard to even locate shopping baskets . I am not saying that the houseless needs to be removed from the entrance or not allowed to enter but if they are actively threatening customers , someone needs to come and stop that .Yelling and forcing people for change can feel unsafe for a lot of us and that needs to be actively monitored. Apart from that the store is well stocked and organized and the staff is helpful.

World Foods doesn't carry the ginormous container of pitted Kalama olives that the mothership Barbur Whole Foods does. But they do have excellent customer service and and will transfer a jug from Barbur to Whole Foods for me. They also sell Arz labne which I can't find anywhere else convenient in Portland. Certainly not at a conventional grocery store. They also sell all kinds of other international groceries like giant jars if dolmas, lavash, the best chocolate bars. I could go on and on. Walking the aisles makes me feel like I'm in a different country and it's fun. There's not much in the way of parking. Most people in the Pearl probably walk there. I know I do. I do know that if you want a grocery adventure check out World Foods. 2026 - Review # 6

About 2-3 people in it. It's a small store. You are paying for convenience (prices are a bit higher) because most other stores in the immediate area by foot are closed by this time / there's not a ton of competition. It's not the cleanest of stores and if you get anything that is not prepackaged, good luck to your gut because it doesn't scream the cleanest place ever. I got a few things - gatorade, candy, chips and it came out to 20 bucks. Staff is okay. Felt like they were staring me down. When I got to the registered they greeted me which is the bare minimum but felt like it was the best I was going to get. So I'll give them a half a star for that. Place is organized a bit weird. I could find items in the most random of places. Best to come here if you want one or two items.

Their wine bar is fantastic, and good-priced, and it was fun to watch the last of the World Cup here today. If you're looking for something special or hard to find, this is the place, much like the old Pastaworks was on Hawthorne. They really shine on their produce, pasta and fresh meats here, and there's always something new, but I love that you can count on the bakery for your focaccia and other fresh breads. Cheese case is like Rue Cler, Paris--so much selection and they will tell you about each one of them. Don't be afraid to just ask a lot of questions. I wish that they did some little items in the bakery, one of my fondest memories from childhood was going to Pastaworks with my dad and getting a breadstick, probably eating it before we even paid (we did), as we strolled around, and where's the peanut sauce for pasta, another favorite of the old days, yup, I'm old. Can't say enough good things about this place, it can add up though as others have mentioned, but, if you keep to a list or just slow the roll on the impulse buy, it's actually reasonable and you know you're getting what you're paying for. I've never regretted a purchase here or thought it unfair. I mean, it says Fine Foods right there in the name...:) Thank you for the amazing ingredients for dinner tonight, cheers!

Not anymore! The "security guard" (large framed teen?) seems to take interest in following women around the store, while smiling and staring. It's uncomfortable and creepy. Apparently I'm not the only one noticing it either. Read the other reviews about people who have been harassed, profiled and kicked out of the store by security. They also take photos of people on their personal devices. This store completely benefits from being located in Portland's wealthiest area, yet leaves customers being profiled when they don't fit a certain image. If you don't want to spend your hard-earned money somewhere that leaves customers feeling judged or watched, skip zupans. I used to think highly of this establishment, but after witnessing this kind of behavior multiple times and reading about other customers' experiences, the whole place gives me the ick.
