Erin is a fantastic instructor in so many ways! Not only is she super versatile, but is also very…read morethorough, attentive, and excellent at identifying the particular challenges that a student is stuck on at any given moment. She's great at coming up with clearly illustrated ways of explaining and correcting any aspect of playing technique, and is able to zoom in and get really specific about what exactly needs to be adjusted. To give an example, in my very first lesson with Erin I already had a major breakthrough that significantly improved my bowing. She was able to call attention to an aspect of bowing posture that I had completely overlooked previously. Once she showed me how to engage my whole torso, every other aspect of my bowing movement became much more fluid and relaxed. She was also able to easily adapt her pedagogy to my level of violin playing experience relative to my age and overall musical fluency level. As a 26 year old who is very new to violin (mostly self-taught with only a handful of prior lessons) while also being an experienced musician who is fluent in music theory and an advanced player of other (non-string) instruments, I would expect that my needs as a student are somewhat peculiar for the average violin teacher. Regardless, I felt like Erin was able to meet me exactly at the level I was at. I'm confident that she'd be able to deliver that same quality of customized instruction to any student, no matter their age or experience level!

What stood out most was how engaged the tutors were. They didn't just go through the material -- they really made sure our son stayed on track. He's taking the SAT again and is aiming for a 1500, and we feel much more confident going into it. There were definitely moments where she wasn't fully locked in (teenagers...) but the tutors stayed on top of her and kept her accountable. Great staff??????? Weekend nursing supervisor can barely understand when spoken to (in English by…read morethe way) and I had to repeat myself twice at least. Most of the time I call during the day trying to reach nurse or someone on the floor, I have to wait at least 20-30 minutes and call back repeatedly sometimes to get to anyone. Place is out in Rockaways and not easy to get to if you do not drive, not like I can hop on the train after work and be there in 10-15 min. My parent has been there for almost a year now and unless they need something, their social worker does not even return phone calls, but if tables turn and they have to get signature or something from me, they will bombard me with the phone calls and messages. No one ever returns calls either that or messages do not get to people they should be getting to....Place sucks, smells terrible and they had stomach virus quarantine back in December 2012, but no visible announcements to visitors - I was sick for a week after a visit with a parent. Could have at least provided a mask and gloves or something to visitors - nada.
