Clinton has been on King Street a few years now. It is one of the more upmarket (sorry, can't think of a more fitting word!) card shops in the town by that, I mean they sell a wider range of branded cards, Hallmark being one I can think of. In the past I have found that although their cards are probably the nicest of all the shops, they are also the most expensive. However, I did find that around xmas time this year when I went in, their xmas cards were noticeably cheaper than they have ever been so perhaps they are beginning to react to the customer's needs and are reducing their prices to be more competitive??? If I am buying a card for a very special occassion (for example a 40th birthday card or christening card) then I would always go to Clintons, however, being a stingy mare I would tend to go to one of the cheaper shops if all I needed was a bog standard birthday card for a friend or a cheap giftbag as I think Clintons are a bit overpriced for everyday things. The inside of the store cannot be faulted though - it is very tidy and spacious, so you're not shoulder-to-shoulder with other people. You actually have room to breathe which is a novelty unlike in some of the other cardshops in the town! read more
