Celtica stocks high quality gifts, crafts, jewellery, art and clothing. Items can be expensive but they often have seasonal sales too. The move has improved the cafe. It's now smaller, but you have a beautiful view of Victoria Docks, all it's yachts and the people passing by. The cafe doesn't offer any main meals, but it's the perfect place for a reasonably priced snack. They offer sandwiches, paninis, jackets, cakes and the like, and often have special offers such as a toasted tea cake with a drink for £1.50.

Gray Thomas in Caernarfon is something of an oddity. The place must make all its profit in the two…read moreweeks of summer we get, but still manages to keep afloat for years. I'd liken it to Pringles in LlanfairPG, kinda like a Debenhams store for pensioners and tourists. The wares they sell seem to be predominantly geared at the grey haired tourists, little welsh trinkets, fleecey clothing, tweed jackets with leather elbow patches, bits of semi precious stone etc. You'll often see people mooching around looking at what's on the shelves, but rarely will you see someone buy anything! I guess the shop is something of a public service, keeping all those crazy pensioners off the streets and out of trouble, but otherwise it seems a pretty pointless place to me. Pop in if visiting and looking for a gift. If you're local, don't bother. In fact, if you're local and DO shop there, please let me know what you bought - I'd dearly love to know what this shop is for!

Siop Eryri is another gift shop in Caernarfon. They cater mainly for visitors and tourists, plenty…read moreof trinkets and tat, plenty of postcards with photographs of the Castle platered all over, wooden love spoons, you know the crack by now. Siop Eryri does have one redeeming feature for those that live locally, and that is it's hefty supply of Welsh greeting cards. Absolutely spot on for christmas and birthdays cards for that super-welsh relative. Don't expect to find anything here that you won't find in any of the other gift shops, but you can expect to find the same tat at a lower price here. I guess it's horses for courses and this shop does fulfil a genuine need in a little touristy town like Caernarfon. Worth a visit if you're french, over 60, or bored.
