After waiting for 30 minutes, my oldest child went to the monkey bars, but even though he was just standing there, they told him to come back and keep waiting. They insisted we wait until someone was available to assist us. My kids do not need help with monkey bars or rock climbing, at least not my 12 years child who has done it many times before. Then, one of the staff members claimed I wasn't following their policy and accused me of trespassing. Their only policy seemed to be making us wait. What started as excitement quickly turned into us being treated like criminals. The customer service was terrible. I'm glad I didn't spend any money there, and in just two minutes, they lost $110 from us. I also found out they charge an extra $15 to rent harnesses and shoes, on top of the ticket price. If I could, I'd give them zero stars.

Aspire Climbing is a great place to take your entire family. My son has never climbed before,…read morebetween bouldering and parkour he spent 2 hours entertaining himself while my wife and I were going through our belay lesson. He also loved climbing the many different rock walls once we were able to belay for him. The staff is extremely knowledgable, friendly and takes the time to make sure you are comfortable at your challenge of choice. The facility is geared towards extreme amateurs like my wife and I to very advance climbers. It was also really cool to watch the more experienced climbers. I the facility is kept really clean and their washrooms also have showers if you need to clean up. If you are looking for a great place to have fun with your family, I'd recommend going to Aspire!

Core Climbing Gym - The only overhang area

This was a temporary gym for me while I was in the area for a few weeks. I chose this gym for the…read moreproximity and reasonable monthly membership fee and was not disappointed! The gym is very clean and the employees were very friendly. I loved that they have communal chalk for free - great for when you forget or if you are a first timer. There are not too many problems to work on here and even fewer overhangs. Although they make up for it by changing a section of the wall every week so it keeps things new and fresh. For a tall person I also thought some problems were too short (I could reach the top after a few steps). Maybe setters can make problems more interesting by setting longer routes. Overall I would still come back whenever I'm visiting Canada again!

My nieces (8 & 11) absolutely love this place, so I guess it must be OK. To be clear, this is not…read morerock climbing walls. This is "bouldering". The difference being zero help, no ropes, no safety of any kind aside from a padded floor. Some walls are steep and over 20' tall, so a fall can be significant. Guess that's why you sign a waiver. This place is clean and spacious with almost limitless possibilities to suit all skill levels. The colored nodules on the wall indicate a skill level and "path" you should take to reach the top. Using a color other than the one you started with would be considered cheating--but I won't tell. Admission price varies depending on group size and you get admitted for an all-day pass. I would like to see an hourly option since we really only needed 2 hours to get hour fill of fun. We paid about $17 USD per person. Groupon has several offerings to help reduce that cost. My only recommendation would be to offer some sort of instruction, tips, videos, etc related to bouldering. There was only one staff member and he never came over to offer a tip or advice or anything to help us navigate the walls better. They had a TV playing video of rock climbing, but that is of no value here. Overall very enjoyable time with the kids, but I think I prefer Sky Zone instead for the variety of activities available.

The facility is clean, albeit being on the small side which does not affect our time there at all, as we're just starting to learn. Both times we were there, we were lucky enough to have the place mostly to ourselves and we've been having lots of fun on the auto-belays. Jeff is very personable and laid back, which is really nice, because the last thing I wanted was having someone hovering over me as I ungracefully try to maneuver my way up the colour coded path. We'll continue to learn here and I am looking forward to trying out their summer camp for my daughter soon.

There are two Rock Oasis gyms in the city, one in Toronto and the other in Ajax. The Ajax location…read moreis actually located inside of the Ajax Community Centre. The photo on Google Maps of the entrance isn't actually the one I was able to enter from. If you're facing the entrance where it says "banquet hall" (that's where it'll take you in the nav), walk to the left until you see another set of doors. Once you walk in there's hanging signage that will say "rock climbing". Follow these and you should start seeing signs for "Rock Oasis". Pretty easy from there! There's a little counter where you can take care of your rentals and payment. The staff member that I was greeted by was already expecting me! I had booked online the night before and signed the waiver. In the same hallway there's a set of doors that leads directly into the rock climbing area. There are cubbies to store your gear at the bottom of the stairs. Right by it was a hand sanitizing station although they had some other bottles spread throughout the climbing area on benches. It's a veryyy small climbing area! you can see everything at a glance. The walls also don't get super high which is good for beginners since you won't get as tired going all the way up. There are only 3 auto belays so it gets crowded if you're climbing alone. There is a lot of bouldering available. Since they have limited space, they had to be imaginative with their puzzles. Most of them take the approach of moving horizontally across a wider range of space rather than going up. The bouldering and the top rope walls cross over each other so on a busy day it would be more difficult to maneuver. The bouldering paths are graded by difficulty and they have a colour coding system. I will say that just because they are traversed horizontally doesn't mean that they're easier than the ones at other gyms! It's still a great challenge. Overall the gym is great for the community and located in an accessible place at a reasonable price. However it's very small. If you don't have the place all to yourself, I could find it really hard to get access to the walls you're interested in. You also probably couldn't spend that much time here if you are an experienced climbing.
