Get up to date with all the posh goings on in Bristol with Clifton Life. Bristol's local answer to Country Life, this is high end mundane journalism - it'll tell you the essentials of local events in categories like music, arts, family fun, as well as some odd articles about local issues/points of interests. Generally, it'll list some interesting events, which are always on the tasteful side of things - take Lillian Boulette, jazz and blues music at the Cori Tap. In the style of it's parent magazine, it also has a long section on property, where the advertised houses are simply amazing - and thus wildly expensive - you really get a sense of how rich Clifton is once you have a browse. Like The Bristol Magazine, it's directed at affluent citizens and delivered for free distribution to most of the city's businesses. Worth a browse - you might find a good little gem of information. read more

What a let down. I picked up this magazine up when I was waiting for some grub in Deco lounge. I was hoping for it to be a magazine that is overflowing with juicy articles that I could wrap my mind around and suck dry of opinions and views on local events and affairs. I clearly picked up the wrong magazine. I was instead confronted with a pretentious onslaught of up-market adverts, and superficial articles that made Clifton seem like a resort that was looking for wealthy investors. Not the type of magazine to sit and sip your coffee to over a long breakfast. read more

Another one of the many magazines which litter coffee shops all over Clifton, advertising overpriced goods and offering inane commentary on things nobody really cares about. I've yet to read anything genuinely substantial in one of these magazines, which target the lucrative niche market of bored, affluent yummy mummys. The writing is fine, but short on facts. Similarly, events listings are sparse and sometimes with an air of having been cobbled together at the last minute. Worthy of a flick through when everyone else has grabbed the newspaper - there's some eye-catching photography - outside of its tiny target audience, Clifton Life appeals to the voyeur. After all, it's always fun to gawp at how the other half live. read more
