It's a bustling little spot and we got the last table for two in the spot. They were full of families, friend groups, and couples--they definitely have a broad appeal. And, I can see why. I ordered their goat cheese tartlet with chips, which was delicious. The guiness that we ordered was cold and delicious. The service was kind and attentive. The atmosphere is loud and joyful--your classic pub feel. We loved it! Get to it!

Commercially made fried that could have used more frying time and a bit more salt. The Apple crumble was also disappointing. It was good, not great. It appeared that it was made to order by either heating the apples in a pan or microwave to scorching hot, then topping with the crumble mix. It lacked caramelization with both the apples and the topping. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be? Apples just need to be cooked down a bit to get the optimal texture and color. All in all, this is a good place for a quick meal.

It's a proper Irish pub, so you can expect a decent pint, good food and bit of atmosphere. There's also a Jack Russell terrier who hung out with us while we were having a pint. I'm not sure if he's part of the staff though. The best thing about the hotel is that it shares a kitchen with the Lighthouse Bistro, so you can have some of their awesome food with your drink!

Upon entering I was impressed by the somewhat typical Irish pubness of the bar, but yet it had a cool style all of its own that sets it apart from all other Irish pubs. Venturing further back, we had the back room reserved off to the left, but more on that later. It was out to the coolest beer garden in County Cork, nay in Ireland. It's on two level, the back wall made up of the shell of an older building. Picnic tables a plenty, because the beer garden also has a food truck. A most excellent food truck called The Field Kitchen. We had stuffed mussels and fish n chips. Both excellent. Later as the night drew in we retreated to our reserved room, which had a handy window into the bar and wood burner in the corner. We revelled the rest of the night away, retailing each other of the great wedding the night before. It was a great weekend, which was enhanced ten fold by our party in Blackbird.

Potatoe and leak soup was popular with those who had a cold, comes with brown bread. The owner was very courteous and sympathetic and provided hot water for lemsip. Will stop again next time on that route, highly recommended.
