We were in the process of buying a home while selling our home. The people purchasing our home…read moredecided to get their mortgage at their Gulf Coast Bank and Trust, specifically dealing with Dixie Hoerner at the Manhatten Blvd location on the Westbank of Louisiana. The process has been nothing short or a nightmare. To start, Dixie has absolutely NO communication skills at all, and found our realtor (also the realtor of the people purchasing our home) had to borderline harass her to get ANY sort of response. Dixie would say to call back at a certain date and/or time then would not answer the phone during that designated time and would not bother calling back. It was our realtor who would have to constantly call and push her to do her job. She never would provide updates or stay in communication. Word has it, this is VERY common with her and she will procrastinate until the last minute to get anything done. After our experience of playing a LONG waiting game to be able to close on our house to purchase our new house, I fully see that she does that based on our own experience. When she finally provided the information to the underwriter, the UNDERWRITER at Gulf Coast Bank and Trust was not any better. While the inspector of our home gave everything the okay AND the appraiser who came out to our home gave the okay for everything - their underwriter decided to go on a power trip and insult our PACKED and BOXED home saying he can't approve a loan with 'hoarding and junk'?!? Yes, this is WRITTEN on THEIR OFFICIAL paperwork. What?!? Is everyone here a DEI hire or something?! Because this is a defamatory statement and is also a Breach of Implied Covenant of Good Faith: Unprofessional conduct during contractual process (LA Civil Code Art. 1983). I'm not sure if this company is aware, but contracts must be performed in good faith. Parties must execute contractual duties honestly, fairly, and without subterfuge. Bad faith includes: Arbitrary conduct (e.g., a mortgage underwriter baselessly labeling packed moving boxes as "hoarding" to delay approval), Failure to communicate promptly (e.g., ignoring realtors' inquiries), and Imposing non-contractual requirements (e.g., demanding removal of possessions absent contractual authorization). Not to mention a violation of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act: Subjective non-financial criteria impacting credit decisions (12 CFR § 1002.4(b)). We have our home filled with the boxes of our belongings because we are MOVING and we actively LIVE in the house. So we have furniture and boxes of our stuff waiting to be moved. Of course, it's going to be cluttered. This is something that my realtor and loan officer never had to deal with in their 40+ years in business. We personally have never heard of such idiocy ourselves or experienced such issues buying a home. Additionally, the delays incurred by this bank caused additional unnecessary financial burden as we had to pay for additional time to have the pods we rented because Dixie had claimed that we would be closing 'no later than' (insert date here) and the day would come and go. In the end, our loan officer had to take over the loan because Dixie was not doing her job or communicating in a timely manner at all. While I never banked with Gulf Coast Bank and Trust, I can say for certain after dealing with the type of people this bank employs, I NEVER would. I know several people moving currently and have discouraged ALL of them to NEVER use this bank EVER for any type of business and will encourage EVERYONE I encounter needing a bank/loan/etc to NEVER give this joke of a bank business. They made it quite clear they do not care about the people they are serving. Heck, by the way things are ran I don't think they even care about being professional or their own business. Stay away from this horrible company!
