Since I moved to Orlando I have had bad luck with physicians following up and making appointments. This is NOT the case with Orlando Health Physicians. They are very accommodating and professional. I get appointments that work with my schedule and Dr. Jianyu Li is so nice to work with. She is very knowledgeable and quick to refer me to another professional if she does not have the answer. The nurse and front desk staff remember you by name and it's so enjoyable to see then when you need to visit the doctor. The building is newer and very accessible. I have no problems with maneuvering my wheelchair in and around the office. There are accessible bathrooms that are large and easy to access. The elevators are huge and make maneuvering easy when entering and exiting. I would highly recommend Dr. Jianyu Li and her staff to anyone looking for a good internal medicine doctor.

She played intended strong accent word by word and said "how! long! have! you! been! married!" And after I remembered and told her I had an X-ray last year and she got so mad at me (literally mad) and yelled at me "oh you didn't tell me" and shut the door and left. I was shocked. The X-ray was 1.5 years ago. I was pregnant after that and had so many medical processes and delivered my kid in June this year. I really forgot to mention it at first. I was between insurance coverage after changing jobs and in the meantime was unable to afford an out-of-pocket office visit and blood work done at the lab. Obviously not an ideal situation, but one that can't be too rare. I contacted Dr. Silva's office and told them my situation and that in just a few weeks my new insurance would be active, however the Doctor STILL REFUSED to refill my daily medication without me first paying the money to have lab blood work done and come in-person for a visit. Actually, to make things worse, they said okay at first, and then called me back (the receptionist, never the doctor herself) and said they weren't going to approve another refill, and that they need me to come in after getting blood work done. Keep in mind, I have been on the same medication for TWO YEARS, with her continuously ordering increasing strength. It wouldn't hurt anything to keep taking the same dose, but it will definitely hurt my body to just STOP the medication cold turkey. This is reckless, irresponsible, and she just lost a patient. I told them that by their actions I am being forced to quit medication cold-turkey that I have been increasing in strength over the past 2 years, and they just said "Oh well, call us back once you have the new insurance." Even if I did pay out of pocket, they take weeks to schedule an appt and that is AFTER I get the blood work done. I work full-time and it is difficult for me to get to these appointments. I am instead going to go to another doctor who actually cares about the patient first, and the money their office makes second.

However, after the experience first hand, I believe this is an outstanding approach and much different from the model where they task doctors to see hundreds of patients and charge as much as possible. This membership model is affordable, but more so my new Primary Care Doctor at Family Tree Primary Care took time to go over all my concerns as well as what she wanted to go over too in great detail. I did not feel rushed and I did not feel like another number. Everything was clearly explained and the discounts for a wide variety of services ranging from bloodwork to scanning, medications to other tests are outstanding. I believe this model of patient engagement, connection and authentic concern for health and wellness is a great alternative to the popular and less effective primary care model that is out there. To me, this is the future of patient care, where a patient is cared for as the individual person.
