I chose Dr. Voirin as my PCP when we moved to Central Florida in '21 because his profile listed his…read moreinvolvement with Orlando Health's Headache Treatment program. I have suffered with Cluster headaches since '78. In '04, a top neurologist prescribed an emerging tx using high-flow oxygen which constricts the dilated blood vessels causing the pain. It knocked out my pain in 8 min with no side effects. Clusters are called the "Suicide" Headaches", being more severe than migraines. At my checkups, Dr Voirin gave me scripts for high-flow oxygen in case I had an episode but since I had gone 6 yrs. without one as of my last visit on 8/20/25, we both agreed that they may be gone and I didn't get a prescription to take home. Well, they're back with a vengeance! I finally found a company with the appropriate high-flow equipment which is no easy task. Yesterday, I called Dr. Voirin's office, explained the situation and they sent the provider an unsigned script! I got an web message today from his Asst telling me that "Dr voirin is advising that you may need to go to urgent care to get oxygen for your headache as it may be difficult for us to obtain this for you" and signed, "Have a good day". Guess I'm not not even worth a phone call. They apparently think it's going to be a good day for me knowing that I will likely be upright and motionless most of the night with what feels like a knife cutting through my head and a sledgehammer hitting it at the same time. What's even worse is the probability that they don't know the impact of this condition. I never even asked them to "obtain" the equipment. The likelihood that an Urgent Care Center would have staff on hand knowledgeable of this relatively obscure medical condition and have the type of oxygen equipment available to provide 10-15 liters per minute for 10 minutes at around 3:00 a.m. never occurred to them. Most med equipment companies don't even have this equipment. I am incensed! Dr. Voirin doesn't get it, obviously. He was supposed to be part of Orlando Health's headache team. All of my visits have included a review of my Cluster headache situation. I have told him that Cluster sufferers commonly incur a lack of knowledge from Drs. and Equipment providers, presuming that he knew all about these obstacles. There's even an international support group for Cluster patients and these are recurring topics! On my first visit he told me about a new effective medication and when I next saw him, he told me that at 73, it was contraindicated for me. What??? I thought this guy cared about my wellbeing as someone who has fought Clusters for 47 yrs. This is not the first time a Dr let me down either. What he just did to me was senseless, ignorant of the condition/treatment requirements/obstacles faced by Cluster sufferers and downright callous and unethical. I trusted this guy for 4 yrs. and tolerated his general lack of thoroughness because I feared being left without help when these devastating headaches reappeared and that's just what happened. He refused to take 10 seconds to sign an updated script when I was finally in real trouble, using some illogical and unsound reasoning to justify it. I feel like I was conned. I just checked his on-line reviews and they're atrocious. There are many, many negative reviews warning of his poor care. I join those who recommend that, now in his 70's, Dr Voirin should retire. I did inform his office that I will get a new PCP with more knowledge, pragmatism in treatment planning and patient-centered concern. By the way, I am a PhD level retired rehabilitation provider who owned a prominent healthcare business from '84 to '20. I'm not a crank patient but I have learned a few things through my experience, especially about healthcare. I have a great deal of respect for doctors but certainly not blind reverence.

To say my interaction with the staff at this location is disappointing is to say the least. They do…read morenot show any compassion or caring for their patients. After testing positive for covid for the very first time I contacted my PCP, Dr. James Voirin knowing there are FDA approved treatments for high risk patients such as myself. Only to be told they are not treating covid patients and if I became short of breath to go to the emergency room. The staff told me the doctor was not prescribing the antiviral FDA approved drug because it was "too much of a bother" because it interacted with other medications. I was relegated to taking over the counter medications in the hope my symptoms did not get worse requiring my hospitalization. My outrage to this lack of care was palpable. Who was I going to turn to other than my physician? The one person who has all of my medical information and family history. Refusing to accept this as an answer I called the office back insisting my doctor could not just leave me out to dry. Finally a lady by the name of Rose referred me to True Health Infusion Center in Sanford. Why it took a patient to the brink of tears to obtain this information is beyond me. I contacted the center and after a brief questionnaire I qualified to have the antibody intravenous infusion and was seen the same day. Had I not been able to get this infusion I would never know how bad my outcome could have been not receiving any treatment at all. In my greatest time of need and fear my physician failed me.
