She has an incredible attention to detail and is extremely thorough with her examinations. I also appreciate that the practice offers mental health services in addition to primary care. I feel like having it all under one roof makes that referral and ability to connect to the right resources so much easier! Scheduling is also super easy! After calling and leaving a message for clarification about a medical order, I never received a return call. When I called back later that day, I was simply told I needed to schedule an appointment to speak with the doctor. The office is over 30 minutes from my home, so it's not as if I can just stop by to resolve a communication issue. Like many large practices, everything goes through a call center, making it nearly impossible to reach the office directly. Florida has no shortage of medical providers. Customer service is what separates exceptional practices from mediocre ones, and this experience has been disappointing. I'm posting this in the hope that it gets the attention of the front office. I'll update my review if the situation is resolved.

Seriously life changing…read more I don't say this lightly when I say that the stress and frustration of not achieving my goals over the course of 10+ years weighed heavily on me. I didn't want to live anymore, and to put it in perspective, I'm in love with life now... I have been off the Medicine they provide for more than 24 hours, so this isn't just the amazing feeling speaking. Now I have to say that not everyone's experience will be the same but IF you take the recommended Dieta seriously (doesn't have to be religiously perfect, but followed the best you can), IF you were already trying to improve yourself with Meditation, Self Awareness, and Intentions to be better, AND you are willing to allow and give permission to the process to work, you will find that you will get more value out of it. Some people have bigger demons to work through, and I honestly thought (based on how I felt before) that I was the worse of the worse. I personally didn't have a lot of visuals, but emotionally, it was as if I was reborn... In fact the AWESOME and AMAZING Team at Soul Quest asked us to think of one word before our Initiation that summarizes how we felt... My day 1 word was "Ready" because for me it was a life or death decision... On my last day (just 2 days later) my word was "Reborn." To put it into words, it's VERY difficult to describe to people who have not had the experience. In fact I took a video log to document my experience. My husband also sees Dr. Douglas (we almost never go together due to work schedules) and my husband has similar experiences. The staff here is great and the office runs efficiently. Dr. Douglas runs on time. I've never had a wait. My husband is typically a difficult stick. The phlebotomist here is awesome and always gets him on the first time. Dr. Douglas is kind and takes a real interest in you, not just as a patient but as a person. Dr. Douglas is a huge dog lover and has photos of his dogs in the exam rooms. It's a nice touch so that the office feels less sterile and more welcoming. It's also nice to get a glimpse into his hobbies/ outside interests. That way you see him not just as your doctor but as a human. Overall I highly recommend Dr. Douglas. He is a wonderful PCP. You want someone who takes the time to listen and gets to know you as a person. The location is convenient for me but even if I lived a little further away, I'd drive the extra distance for a good doctor.

I came in as a healthy, young male for a pre-employment physical. Working in healthcare, I get physicals at least annually, among other tests and screens. She could have easily performed a cursory physical exam, asked me whether I could physically work, and signed my form. Instead, Dr. Velez provided a complete physical exam, obtained a full medical and surgical history, and screened me for a few health conditions based on my intake forms and family history. Needless to say, I was impressed with her approach this visit. Not only does she provide comprehensive care, she also knows how to build rapport. She entered the room with a friendly smile, used little medical jargon, which improves communication for many, and was very approachable. If I were to stay in Orlando, she would be my primary care physician! Velez Family Health is located in Dr. Phillips in an office building. It's not visible from the parking lot, but if you walk down the hall of the north building, you'll find this clinic on the first floor past the restrooms.
