I have met with Dr. DiDonna on several occasions (pre- and post-lab work), and unlike pretty much every other doctor I have seen in recent memory, Dr. DiDonna has been the only health care practitioner to actually ASK me how I'm feeling as opposed to just reading results from a computer screen. And a special shout-out to Brit at the front desk who was super helpful in getting my insurance situation sorted out and was extremely efficient in scheduling my appointment and follow-up. She is so nice and helpful, I can only imagine her job is super stressful! Can't say enough good things about Dr. DiDonna and the crew at Dunedin Pediatrics--since my first appointment, I'm actually OFF of three prescriptions and have been feeling the best I've felt in years (I'm a 41 year old guy). If you want to see a medical professional who cares about your well being, definitely consider making an appointment. On several occasion I have found it very hard to deal with Britt at the front desk though. She appears and sound cold and unfriendly, this has been a regular occurrence with her and since Dr Herrero has been a wonderful pediatrician I have turned a blind eye to it. This time though we have come to an end of relationship. Just over two weeks ago I had asked Britt for an appointment since my baby was sick with a fever, she couldn't accommodate us as the doctor was out of state. I took my baby to urgent care but then followed up as I really wanted dr Herrero to visit with her. She again told me that doctor Herrero would only be able to see her in 5 days time. At this point I told her that it would be too late but to keep the appointment anyway. I took my baby to urgent care again and finally we got to the bottom of it. Fast forward almost two weeks; I showed up today. Britt had failed to mention that the office was actually closed and it appeared that way when I arrived (Wednesday October 16th) the sign on the door said that the office was closed. I waited for 10 mins, called the office with no answer. It was now 3.30p and my appointment was at 3.40p. I waited five more mins and then I got in the car about to drive off. I saw her pulling up by this time in her car, I still wasn't sure if the office would be open, she didn't make an effort to say hello or to waive us in. Completely unfaced and uninterested. She finally opened the office door and once again we were met with a face of discontent, not even a nice friendly gesture to welcome my toddler. Just plain rude. She asks me to sign a document which said that I must be there 15 mins prior to any appointment. I told her nicely that I was there even though no one else was. She barely snared at my comment. She then tells me that I have a 15 month wellness visit for next week coming up and that is mandatory. I am literally standing there baffled as two weeks have gone by since my baby was sick and she just says "oh no, today you are just scheduled for a sick visit, she doesn't have time for a wellness check" (note; our wellness checks are usually 15 mins long as the baby has never had any concerns) I am literally standing there asking her to understand that the baby was clearly not sick anymore as two weeks had gone by. I had just asked her to keep the appointment for a check up..... At this point I had to end our relationship and asked her to never mind the whole thing, it was clearly redundant and she made the point of telling me twice that the doctor could not just visit my baby. She seemed very excited to just refund me and let us go. Not even one peep. Not a question, understanding, nothing. I am a working mother and here I was with my baby, I took a whole Afternoon off work and she couldn't even be a professional about it. Shame on you Britt, you are actively driving people away for the lovely Dr Herrero. I hope she sees that and handles it. Maybe your office would have a lot more customers!!

She is now four, and my younger son has also been a patient since birth. We stayed with this practice for years because we genuinely believed in what Dr. Rivera said he wanted his practice to be: quality over quantity and a place where patients and families mattered. Unfortunately, our experience over the years has become completely different. There have been ongoing issues with the office staff being rude and dismissive toward me as a parent. One of the issues that initially caused frustration was that the office repeatedly got my son's gender incorrect. When I corrected the information, instead of simply acknowledging and correcting the mistake, I was met with an attitude from the staff. Mistakes happen, but the way a parent is treated when bringing a mistake to the office's attention matters. We have also had ongoing difficulties with insurance issues and scheduling. Rather than feeling like the office is trying to help families navigate these things, we have repeatedly felt like we were an inconvenience. The situation that ultimately resulted in our children being dismissed from the practice was especially frustrating. I completed all of the required paperwork for my daughter's appointment. Instead of someone from the office calling or emailing me to explain that there was an issue with her primary care provider information and giving me an opportunity to correct it, I received a random text message stating that they could not see her because the information was incorrect. I responded and explained that this could have easily been resolved if someone had simply contacted me and asked me to correct the information. I received no response. The following day, my husband called the office and was told that because of my "attitude," they no longer wanted to see either of our children. Think about that for a moment. My daughter had been a patient there since she was a newborn and is now four years old. My son has been a patient since birth and is now almost two. After years of bringing our children to this practice, both children were dismissed because the office did not like how I addressed a problem that could have been resolved with a simple phone call or email. What is even more disappointing is that we previously had respect for Dr. Rivera and his vision for the practice. He often spoke about wanting to be different and prioritizing quality over quantity. Unfortunately, our experience has been that the quality of the overall patient experience has gone significantly downhill as the years have gone on. When patients repeatedly raise concerns about the office staff, it is incredibly disappointing when those concerns do not seem to be taken seriously. Now, even obtaining our children's medical records has become unnecessarily difficult. I requested the complete records for both of my children. Rather than providing a complete electronic copy of each child's records, I was told that I could individually download years' worth of documents from the patient portal myself. For a family that has been patients for four years, that can mean an enormous number of individual documents to download. The biggest issue for me is not that mistakes happen. It is the lack of communication, professionalism, and willingness to work with parents to resolve problems. We trusted this practice with our children for years. It is extremely disappointing to go from feeling like valued patients to feeling like our family is simply unwanted because we spoke up about problems we were experiencing. I would strongly encourage parents considering this practice to pay attention not only to the doctors, but also to how the office staff communicates with and treats families. The experience we had is very different from the practice we originally chose years ago.
