After researching a small weekend getaway for my husband and I, we chose Clear Water Resort in Hot Springs for a long overdue mini vacation.
The pictures they post on the website are extactly what you get, no frills, no nothing, not even TP!
Since it was well within our budget we thought we'd give it a chance, little did we know we'd be sleeping in the "Handicap Cabin". (Don't make it more than what it is.) Wonderful if you need the extra hallway space and ramp to the patio, but worthless for a couple who wants to be on the water and is restricted.
Beautiful as the lake is, we had VERY little access to the water, we had to climb over the make shift fence from our personal patio to even cast a line. Fishing was worthless with the speedboats going past all hours of the day and night.
The cabin was fully stocked with everything you'd need to cook with, they even provided a small 60's model fridge that didn't keep anything cold and a small 2-burner cook stove to do what was needed on. The grill wasn't clean, still had the last meal left by other renters and the makings of a small wasps nest *EKKK*. No toilet paper, 2 small towels, no enough hotwater to take a shower in and hardly any bed linens.
I should have known, you get what you pay for :) Over all we made it a great 3 days and 2 nights, it was nice to getaway and sit out on the patio at night overlooking the water together but we won't be staying again.
Maybe in a different cabin and access to the water without coming a human pretzel things would have been better.
1 star for the cabin
2 stars for the gorgeous view! read more
