We lived in our own house in West Torrance since 1971. During the last two years we decided to tour…read moreassisted living facilities in our area and further south. We also were concerned that just taking tours with a sales person was misleading. We were aware that people were leaving one failed facility and going to another with the hope of better treatment. We felt uncertain about leaving our beautiful home and moving into this unknown world. We have been at Cogir of South Bay for just over a month. We are going no further. We are here to stay! We are both overjoyed with our decision. Each day brings us a dining room with our new friends. We all have learned to expect a tasty and attractive looking meal will be presented to us. In our past we only dined so well on special occasions at our favorite expensive restaurants. At dinner time I get my wine. Instead of sleeping in late and watching lots of TV, we attend the 9:30 AM exercise classes in the gym or outside alongside the pool. In addition, we now do our weekly exercises at 1:30 PM inside the heated pool when the sun is strongest. Today the pool water temperature was over 90oF and the air was 73oF. The pool exercises included music and aquatic hardware to enhance our experience. I love my daily swim. Thursdays, before dinner, there is always going to be a singer who performs alongside the bar and also comes up to each of us seated at our table. It already started. We enjoyed our drink from the bar, snacks from the side table, and a bouquet of flowers on our table. A resident took the microphone from the performer and did a few songs that he mastered during his singing lessons. Two couples got up and danced. One of the assistants working for Cogir took the microphone and sang Edith Piaf's famous song and sang it French. My hands were sore with all the applause. There is an exercise room loaded with weights and other typical hardware that I use, a game room where we learned how to play adult dominoes, and an arts and crafts room where my wife just painted a silk scarf under the supervision of a guest artist. And all that was in the past few days. We enjoy the trees, shrubbery and plants that surround every area. They were each planted at their full size. It is a pretty scene when we look down at the grounds from our balcony, day or night. When there is a breeze, it is even more enjoyable. We have a pantry, refrigerator, freezer, stove and microwave that we have not yet used. Why shop, cook and clean-up when your meals are prepared for you? I store my socks and underthings in the empty food pantry. We no longer have monthly TV, electricity, gas, and garbage pickup expenses. Since this place is brand new and all expenses are included, we don't worry about scheduled maintenance and surprise repair bills typical of our 50-year old home. Since I was an engineer I focused on the material parts of Cogir. What make this place run smoothly are the executive director and her staff. The Matre D' in the dining room makes each meal personal. WIth great satisfaction, Dr. Paul and Gretel Lieberman

Due to declining health of a relative, I have had more interaction with the staff and found them to be responsive, caring, empathetic, friendly. Sometimes the cleaning staff does unwittingly throw away esoteric, specialty food given by friends & relatives to my resident relative since the staff is not sure of its shelf lIfe, but the complaint by my relative's earlier claims of missing personal items possibly by staff members now seem to be unsubstantiated. Overall, Spring presently is a desirable assisted living home. The residents are from middle class backgrounds so there is an air of civility and dignity. The facilities are clean with a comfortable "living room" for residents to gather for directed activities & occasional entertainment. My past review and others' reviews were not as complimentary, but under Linda Hiles and the amenable staff, I feel Spring would be good to look into for an assisted living situation. For pictures of Spring, refer to my previous review below.

So to start, I wanted to write this review to be one of the most recent ones because I personally,…read morewas super skeptical to place my dad here after an extensive stay at a TERRIBLY staffed and neglectful hospital and reading previous reviews of this facility really did give me a bad feeling. I thought maybe it's best if I checked it out myself in person, and I'm so so glad I did. Quick background: I've never been to a skilled nursing home so I didn't know what to expect. I was desperate to find a facility quickly since insurance was discharging my dad out of the hospital almost immediately. But just because I was desperate didn't mean I wanted to settle for just any facility. I still knew that I wanted to find a safe and attentive location for my dad to stay at. I visited another location and from the start, the vibe was OFF. The administration was hounding down the insurance info and insisting I send them my dad's cards via text to release him already from the hospital. None of the staff was attentively going to the patients when they'd request for them. The patients were allllll in wheelchairs, not one patient was walking or moving around. It smelled terrible in there and the lighting was so poor. It looked so run down. On my way to Earl wood, I kept praying that this would be everything I was looking for in a facility for my dad and that it would be completely different from the last place I had visited. Thank God I came in person and didn't go based off the reviews online. The staff was amazing from the start. Christina was sooo kind to show me around the facility and a quick run down of how things work here. The staff was very friendly and kind to have us there, the patients were all so nice and active. Some in wheelchairs, others walking, others just hanging out. There was a sense of effort from healthcare administrators and life in this facility. The lighting in the facility was definitely brighter than the last but the first thing I noticed was the patio and outside area. It was so nice and peaceful looking that I instantly knew my dad would love something like that. When I decided this would be a great fit, I felt so confident and great that this would be the best choice to have my dad come to. I called my family and let them know that he would be accepting the offer for this location and he got transferred within the next couple of days. Ever since arriving here, the staff has been nothing less than GREAT. They are so attentive to my dad's needs, they are beyond amazing at communicating when any changes or questions arise, they are quick to explain and comfort any concern we have. They even had a luau the first weekend of being here! So so fun and cute, I loved it. My dad thoroughly enjoys it here and says it's sooo much better than what he imagined it to be. The ambience and the energy has been nothing to what I expected it to be like and the reviews online were definitely outdated so I felt leaving a new review would freshen up the info and rating on this facility because at first glance of solely reviews, it leaves hesitation. DON'T BELIEVE ALL REVIEWS. Visit the location! Ask questions! Im so so grateful for the team helping us through this difficult time and confusion that can be so tricky to navigate all back end stuff of paperwork and whatnot. I'm sooo grateful for the care and compassion he's received here. THANK YOU SO MUCH to Mary Ann, Christina, Mikayla for the generous and huge amount of help and understanding throughout all of this!!

I took…read moreaway a star because of some things that bothered my mom and I, but overall, mom liked the place, and they took good care of her during a hard time. My mom loved the food, and eating meals in the dining room and watching TV there. She would talk to her room mate about anything and everything. Mom loved the people who did physical therapy, and the patience and motivation that they brought to the process. Mom loved the times when they did "Happy Feet", and she would tell me, "Oh Mijo, you missed happy feet today!" Mom did mention that some of the staff would be hurried and impatience when changing her (the night shift). They didn't give me the date of when her Medicare benefit was depleted, and the place looked a little shabby, especially the bathroom between her room and the next. While this place wasn't my first place initially, I'm glad we went here.

Having spent my entire career as a law enforcement officer specializing as an elder abuse…read moredetective, I was EXTREMELY selective when choosing where my mom would live as her dementia began to worsen. Choosing an assisted living or a memory care community for a loved one requires careful consideration, so when looking for an exceptional facility, I took many things into consideration, and Crofton Manor checked EVERY box! The key aspects that stand out for me at Crofton Manor are: 1. Longevity and attentiveness of staff: A community with staff who have been there for a long time often indicates strong management and a stable, experienced care team. This is true at Crofton Manor. Everyone from the administrative team (Administrator (Amalia), Marketing/LVN (Claudia), on-site Social worker (Cheryl) and all the caregivers, facilities employees, and kitchen staff (and everyone in between)... are all amazing, professional, and have worked here for many years. The consistency of care provided by familiar faces is incredibly comforting and speaks volumes about the community's management and work environment. There is very low turnover in staff, and they are genuinely friendly and approachable. Their attentiveness to the residents' needs and well-being is beyond reproach! The staff makes a genuine effort to engage with residents, learning their preferences and ensuring their needs are met promptly and with dignity. This personalized approach is a major differentiating factor. 2. Safety protocols: This facility has robust safety measures which is paramount in a care setting. This includes secure environments, clear emergency procedures and safety protocols. The community maintains a secure environment without feeling restrictive, and I have complete peace of mind knowing my mother is safe. 3. Cleanliness: Crofton has a consistently clean and well-maintained facility. The health and comfort of the residents is clearly a priority to management and staff. I have never once noticed any foul odor in the facility, and my mother has lived here for almost two years. My siblings and I visit unannounced (at different times/days) at least 3 days per week, and our mom is always groomed, well-dressed and happy. 4. Phenomenal nursing staff: The nurses at Crofton Manor are extraordinary and highly skilled. They are compassionate and responsive, and they manage my mother's healthcare needs efficiently; always communicating with me proactively about any changes or concerns; often being contacted by a nurse for even the smallest of concerns. They do not take the care of their residents lightly, and have never once taken a "shortcut" when it comes to healthcare concerns. They are extremely competent, which is vital for providing appropriate medical care and responding to health needs. 5. Social worker support: Having a dedicated social worker on staff is incredibly beneficial (Cheryl is a rockstar and truly cares!). She has assisted us with navigating resources, providing emotional support to our family, and helped us with the adjustments of community living. Her expertise has made the transition smoother and less stressful. 6. Friendly atmosphere: We are always met with welcoming and friendly staff members. I have never walked into the facility to see folks simply sitting around in wheelchairs unattended. There are always activities for the residents to be involved in, and the place is decorated for EVERY holiday, bringing a special warmth to Crofton Manor. The environment created by both staff and residents contributes significantly to a positive environment. In summary, the qualities I have pointed out above (along with many others) assisted us in choosing Crofton Manor as a safe, supportive, and caring environment for our mom. We have found an exceptional assisted living/memory care community for her at Crofton Manor, which was a decision I made with great scrutiny. The facility has exceeded my high standards, providing an environment that I trust implicitly. I highly recommend Crofton Manor to anyone seeking top-tier care for their loved ones.
