This was the only option in Hood River for dermatology, and unfortunately, I have to recommend…read morethose in need of medical skin care to consider driving out of town for quality service. For my last appointment, I saw Victoria Hopkins. She never once looked at my skin condition. Instead, she scrolled through pictures of one specific disorder on the internet while asking me if any of the pictures looked similar to my problem. None did, yet she proceeded to diagnose it as such anyway. I was instructed to wash my eyes with salicylic acid shampoo (I tried it the next day; it hurt like hell and temporarily impaired my vision, later I found information myself online that said to dilute the shampoo, 10 parts water to 1 part shampoo). She then went on to assume that I had vitamin deficiencies, especially because I am vegetarian; asking the quintessential misguided question about how I get my protein (if you didn't know, that's a dumb question and for what it's worth my blood tests have always shown healthy vitamin/mineral levels). It became obvious that her unsolicited nutritional advice was as baseless as her dermatological "examination." In order to try to squeeze something useful out of the visit, I asked about practical skin care, such as basic cleansing and moisturizing for post menopausal skin. She simply gave me the number for an esthetician. I know there are far more serious skin diseases than itchy, flaky, stye ridden, broken-out, hormone depleted skin, but for the cost of an appointment, I expect to be treated with respect in addition to an actual physical inspection by a professional, not a guided tour of Google and the number for luxury services that I can't afford. Please note: this experience took place well before the Covid-19 outbreak, thus the lack of examination had nothing to do with pandemic measures.

I hate to leave bad reviews, but this was the WORST experience I have ever had with a healthcare…read moreprofessional. Jeffrey Van Troba was incredibly disappointing. On my first visit, I was seen for less than five minutes for my eczema, in that time he took one look at me and prescribed me three medications, leaving out side effects, how they work, and what I should expect. As a result, I suffered from photosensitivity from doxycycline and some other strange effects to my skin. If I had know these were common issues, I wouldn't have been so mad! Frustrated by this, I went in to my second appointment with low expectations, and I explained to the nurse- who checked me in- my issues. She told him before I got the chance and Jeffrey Van Troba came into my room and attacked me. He did not let me speak or hear my story. He spoke over me. Saying that he was "sorry if I had something else going on in my head" and "didn't listen when I told you the side effects." He tried to tell me I didn't know what I was talking about, and completely invalidated all of my concerns. I will grant, the supervisor called me after the appointment and apologized sincerely. I was grateful she called me although it wasn't her fault, but I cannot recommend this business or Jeffrey Van Troba. I would rather drive to Seattle (2.5 hrs instead of 30 min) any day.

If there was a "NO" star rating, that's what I would give them. I went in to have many skin tags…read moreremoved. The one that was largest didn't come off. I asked if I could go back and have that one zapped off again free of charge. They said no, I would have to pay another full office visit. To top it off, they also kept losing my payment information and billed me three times. Each time I sent my credit card info, put a stamp on it and mailed from the post office. They kept saying they didn't get it. If there is another dermatology place in Yakima, go there. From the other reviews I am seeing here, I am not the only one who has had a bad experience.
