The Q Shack is a pretty decent BBQ spot overall!…read more My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for lunch since we were craving some good local barbeque. This place did not disappoint but it does have some catching up to do with the rest of the local barbeque competition. The location was centrally located and easy to get to (inside a shopping plaza) with plenty of free parking. The space inside was clean and comfortable, and the ordering process was good. Staff was super friendly, professional and helpful. The menu has limited options of pork, turkey, chicken, ribs and sausages. My wife and I tried the three-meat combo: ribs, brisket and sausage. The ribs and brisket were good but the sausage was OK as it tasted like it was from a can. The options for barbeque sausages were the same as what you find in a regular bbq place, but the sauce that was really good was the raspberry one (refer to the photos). That was my favorite! Overall, it was a good experience and I can definitely come back to try the other menu items.

Loved that all servers and staff were professionally dressed. Disappointed to report: the kids gathering at the grass spot outside the restaurant is out of control. Teens and tweens have take over the area. Maybe downtown leaders and owners could help to relocate these kids to a better gathering spot. Older adults walking the sidewalks could not walk safely. This is a "very walkable" district and that should be preserved. My mom came very close to getting hit by an e-bike. Highly recommend this restaurant, but sit inside for a formal and quiet ambiance.

Second time here, second time underwhelmed…read more The team went out for an evening dinner and some camaraderie. Very good time with everyone. A smattering of different opinions on the food. The menu is fairly deep and wide. Obviously, with the name of the restaurant, they offer a good variety of seafood options. Their specials for the evening both were seafood. Like the last time here they recommended the Chilean Seabass. What a shock, it's the most expensive item on the menu. Three people got it, they all said it was OK to good. I ordered the blackened mahi-mahi. By the description, it sounded good, I've had it other places, I've enjoyed it. Well, there's always a first time that it wasn't very good. That bs this time. To start, the portion size is decent. I understand we were a fairly large group, but they need to figure out a way to bring the food out at least warm. The most disappointing part of the fish was how dry it was. The second most disappointing part about the fish was how it lacked blackened seasoning. One other person also got the same menu item and had the exact same comments. I did start out with a side salad and it was acceptable. The lettuce was not too flimsy. It included goat cheese and candied pecans. Their house dressing, which was a vinaigrette, tasted bitter. We ordered five different appetizers. No super compliments on the any of them. I didn't try them all. I did try the crab cakes, they seemed to be missing crab. I paid the bill. When the server asked me, how was everything? I replied "not very good". She didn't care to ask what the issue was.
