I worked with Jodi in Chef's Catering and she was the best thing that I could have come across while planning my own DIY backyard wedding on a budget. She was patient, understanding, compassionate of my lack of awareness of many things, and accommodated so many requests that made customizing things for my wedding super easy. She was just heaven sent for a paranoid bride : ). They were already mighty affordable, but she always gave me an option to go even cheaper (Like arranging for my own alcohol while she offered services to tend the bar). She was super responsive to all my emails and kept sending me updates from her end as well. They have an amazing range of food on their menu and they are willing to customize anything you want for your event. I attended a private wedding reception on a farm that was catered by "Chef's Catering' and was very impressed. I was raised in family that had extensive hospitality experience from fine dining restaurants to cafe/bistro to banquet operations in NY and NJ . The reception was on 11/28/17; it was outstanding. The organizer and lead person was Theresa; she and her staff could not have been more courteous, attentive and warm .... hospitality in spades! Kudos for SERVICE. And for the food aspects, the menu was very well balanced in hors d'ouevres and dinner items. With the challenges of an off-site location, the food quality and preparation were equally excellent. Kudos for the FOOD. The function was in a small private house for about 40 people. The space limitations presented a challenge that your staff meet and succeeded in providing all the guests with a wonderful wedding reception to enjoy and remember. read more

Chef's Catering is, in my opinion, Charlotte's leader in customer service, freshly prepared food and an impressive presentation. From small orders - boxed lunches - or a hot buffet for a crowd of 1000, they've always done "exactly so." I typically order boxed lunches with the upgrade to executive presentation, and send the Boxed Lunch Pictorial menu out ahead of time to my executives. They love choosing what they want and we all appreciate zero waste afterward! This is the only caterer I've dealt with that actually runs ahead of schedule :) They will even add a lunch when called at the last minute! Awesome - keep up the great work! read more

I have used many caterers and would not recommend Chef's. The gentleman who handled my booking lacked basic customer service skills, made it clear he couldn't have cared less if I used the company or not. (I suspect that CC caters to large companies not individuals for smaller, more intimate affairs.) Several fees were added to the contract, elevating the initial estimate significantly. While he couldn't have been a nicer guy, the on-site support arrived late on the day of the event, and there was a bit of a 'scurry' to prepare before guests arrived. I paid an hourly rate for a bartender and for on-site food prep - but CC sent one person to do both which meant the bar was largely un-tended until after dinner even though I paid an hourly rate for the service. The good was very good, but unfortunately the price tag and the complete lack of customer service will lead me to another provider in the future. read more

I used chef's catering for a corporate training lunch and HIGHLY recommend! I was in a bind, and needed catering service same day. This was the only catering location that was happy to provide a quick turnaround. On top of that, they provided an excellent quality meal and service. We ended up running out of food before all of our attendees have been served, and Chef's catering provided a quick turnaround of quality food and service AGAIN! The food was great! but not hot maybe lukewarm. The event coordinator Marcy was great to work with. Marcy upgraded our disposable servings to Stainless Steel so that was great! The service was not as I expected. The server arrived at the event about 20 minutes prior to the event. The server was not personable nor friendly. Several of my guests complained about the service. We had about 80 guest and 1 server. Hindsight it should have been suggested we hired 2 servers that actually served the food and not allowed the guest to serve themselves. I spoke with the owner after the event he was somewhat argumentative but agreed to refund a small portion of my money. read more

I was happy to find a caterer on short notice. The process leading up to the event was find. Liza, the office manager was very helpful. However, I was disappointed with the food and service at my event. We had arranged for 2 servers to arrive a 600 pm. One arrived at 620pm with the food. The other arrived about 625. I had some guests arrive early and they were still unpacking the truck and setting up. The cold rushers were pretty good, but the warm dishes/apps were for the most part, cold. The food all seemed to taste the same with no real strong flavor to anything. Also the staff certainly wasn't the A team has I had to clear my guests plates serveral times. All in all it was a fair evening. I could not recommend them based on my experience. Also I wrote an email to Liza expressing the details of my experience and offering a chance to discuss. I never got a response. It seems to me if a client cares enough to offer an honest review of the service, someone should respond. read more
