She was extremely respectful to my ex and his lawyer, but she supported me and what I wanted. It wasn't a knock-down fight. It was respectful. He then sent her a bill for $5000 for the phone calls without having her even sign or agree on any payments for said advice. This law firm took advantage of my disabled mother!! Instead of launching yourself in to an unnecessary (and expensive to your client), campaign of discovery that was of no benefit to your client, did not answer the fundamental question of the lawsuit, namely what the other side was seeking to have rectified, but certainly lined your pockets with your clients hard earned money. As it turned out, the rectification the other side was seeking was not germane to the separation agreement at all and was, for the most part erroneous. A good lawyer could have had the claim dismissed in short order, but then again, you're not a good lawyer, I trusted you and you failed to provide the quality of service expected of a competent lawyer, costing me my home, $96,500 I never recovered back from my "X" and almost everything else. Deer Lake Law supported someone that was disbarred, lie about what they have done for me, stole my money and now refuse to give it back. I am deeply angered how a law firm can mistreat people the way they have, they should be reprimanded and fined. They should know to only take money for legal services, and not take hard earned money from people just to take their money. Never hire them!

My first encounter with Mr. Simoes should have sent me running. As a father in the midst of a…read morehigh-conflict divorce and who loves his kids more than anything in the world, I was told, "Every day is mother's day in court". Needless to say I didn't have a great deal of confidence instilled in me. The first thing reviewed at length by Mr. Simoes' firm (Deer Lake Law Group) was my income, which was done under the premise of updating my child support obligations. However, I was left with the impression this was done to determine my budget to pay Deer Lake Law on an ongoing basis. Over the course of about one (1) year a great many e-mail exchanges occurred between Deer Lake Law Group and opposing counsel. However, I do not feel as though any progress was made toward addressing the critical issues related to my children. Aside from increased child support, I am left feeling as though this Law Firm was more than happy to exchange e-mails with opposing counsel to the tune of thousands of my hard-earned dollars without resolving any of the issues I had hired them to address. During the communications with Deer Lake Law Group, I was presented with a variety of options as to how I could proceed with various matters, but never really felt as though I was being supported, advocated for or advised by someone who was holding the best interests of my children as a priority. I never felt as though Antonio Simoes or the junior lawyer assigned had formulated a strategy or roadmap to help navigate my extremely complex case, to give me some much needed peace of mind and to ensure that my children's best interests were met. My experience with Deer Lake Law feels like I am out thousands of dollars without being any further ahead than I was a year ago and that making lots of money is their top priority. At no point did I feel like I had strong support or an advocate. The whole experience felt like nothing more than a series of transactions with a revenue-centric business. While I understand that a law firm is a business, I expected to have a degree of compassion, sympathy and support in dealing with what is most precious to me in this world - my children. In summary, I would not recommend Mr. Simoes to anyone with a new or existing family law case.
