Inside the atmosphere has been transformed into an attractive Indian décor. We had selected Saleem because it is an inexpensive Indian restaurant with good and a comfortable atmosphere; C and I have been there many times before. My English friend were pleased to find his favorite dishes on the menu of north Indian cuisine. The restaurant is BYO - C and I had bought a bottle of red, our friends had another bottle; conclusion a very good time was had by all. The service is friendly and efficient. Complimentary poppadoms were served with the meal. The curries are presented in bowels with tea-lights under them. Everyone had plenty to eat with the three curries that we ordered between the four of us. The curries are not spicy hot - Saleem Indian does cater a bit too much to the suburban Australian palette. It also does a good takeaway service that C and I have enjoyed when we were too busy too cook for ourselves.

The portion sizes are pretty massive and the staff are always friendly and sometimes make gags about me ordering the butter chicken all the time. The Saag wala is radical, as is the lamb bhuna.

I have explored their extensive menu of traditional Indian, Malaysian and Sri Lankan dishes trying everything from the usual curries to their venison biryani and haleem, a mutton dish that is part of ancient cuisine of Hyderabad. Nila's specialty is roti, dosai and other types of Indian pancakes that are cooked at the front of the restaurant adding to charm and authenticity of the dinning experience. Their ghee dosai is spectacular creation with a very large thin rice pancake formed into a cone on which a second pancake is impaled like the brim of a hat. My favorite is their Murthaba Ayam, a stuffed roti filled with chicken, onion, tomato, chili, fresh egg and spices. Nila offers great food at affordable prices making it a favorite for students and families. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the décor basic with Bollywood music videos playing on two televisions, except during the cricket season when there is cricket, of course, and during Ramadan when they are switched off. The restaurant is halal and during Ramadan has an all you can eat buffet. Upstairs there is a function room for catered parties. All the food is halal and there is an extensive vegetarian selection.

In fact everything's awesome here from the awesome range of cheap curries, dosai to the roti that's made out the front of the restaurant while you watch. The staff here are ridiculously friendly! To the point where I think the guy who owns it was trying to get us to go to the northern territory with him, in a friendly way, not the creepy way! This place has a great tacky charm, and in my mind is the best Indian/Malaysian in the area by a long shot. It's well worth braving the stupid Sydney rd traffic to try this place out.

However, where it differs is the standard of food. The food is delicious, authentic and well priced, which is why Cafe Saffron is so popular. Cafe Saffron offered a range of banquets which are great value if you arrive starved or if you want a range of dishes! Visit Cafe Saffron with a large group so you can order many dishes and have a little (or a lot) of each. If this isn't an option pretty much any dish will sate your hunger and have you licking your lips. They offer a range of vegetarian options as well as chicken, lamb, beef and seafood dishes. I cannot single one dish out over the others as they are all well made and deserving of your attention. Overall, Cafe Saffron are a good value and consistent option. Drop by for the lunch specials or pick up take away. They also deliver locally. But don't forget my favourite, the garlic naan!

However, don't let that discourage you, we're here for the food after all. We ordered from the take away menu which included the Sag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma and Chicken Biryani. Every dish was filled with amazing, rich and tasty flavours. Sag Paneer had huge pieces of cottage cheese submerged within the spinach. Both the chicken and lamb were cooked perfectly, tender and a joy to eat with their respective sauces where you could taste the freshly ground spices and herbs. The Chicken Biryani had a pleasant sweet taste mixed with a wonderful amount of spice with hidden pieces of tender chicken underneath the rice. The garlic naan did a wonderful job of soaking the sauce with its fluffy goodness and texture. We ordered the regular sized versions of these dishes and there was enough to feed us twice over ticking the cost-effective check box and raising my smile dial even further. The service was friendly and prompt, the chefs dressed neatly focusing on their food preparations was nice to see. I have read some negative reviews concerning the food quality and taste and I'm worried that these reviews are not authentic, so please take their advice with a grain of salt and do what I did and ignore them. Yep, that winning feeling :) If you're in the area looking for the Northern India food experience, it's hard to go pass Ameer Tandoori. Although the décor needs work, the food is sensational and one restaurant you shouldn't miss out on.
