I was underwhelmed here. Let's get the hospitality out of the way first as this is in abundance everywhere you go in this ancient, scarred city.
This cafe is just off the main square called the Diamond. The first thing I noted was that the booth that we sat in was tight and uncomfortable. Then I noted that the large lattes and cappuccinos were close to £4 each, so I thought this is going to be good, and I've no problem paying for quality, but nope the coffee was poor, it had more in comparison to a Mc Donald 95p white coffee and it wasn't hot either.
As we sat cramped we decided that the carmel square at over £2 wasn't worth it. We had two large cappuccino and this sweet treat at near £10 and we felt ripped off. Perhaps it was the poor tasting, barely hot coffee that spoiled it for us - but after a short while we noted how cold it was inside too as the front door had remained open when it was 9c outside and honestly it felt not much warmer within. I imagine that the owners could argue Wu flu related cold fresh air but bugger that when in bleak cold winter all we want is a tad of comfort and at these prices that's the least they could offer.
Our test is would we return. Not a chance. read more
