This review is best started by noting that up until the point I met with Ned, shopping for an engagement ring was one of the most frustrating and uncomfortable experiences. I had met with dozens of jewelers across numerous locations in New York and New Jersey. Although I'll never experience the catcalls a woman might get when roaming the streets of Manhattan, I imagine it's something similar to being a young male walking down the Diamond District on 47th St. With each jeweler came the same pitch of "Don't worry, I give you good deal" or "I'm taking a loss on this diamond so I can buy more inventory". At the end of the day, each one was just looking for you to spend the most possible money while getting you to believe you received the best possible deal. This is where Ned comes in. He was the last jeweler that I met with, both because I tried to save the jewelers with the best reputations toward the end and that after meeting with him I was sold. Upon arriving, our friend's jeweler was working with another customer, so we decided to walk around the Exchange and browse around. We stopped at CLASSY DIAMONDS, and the women behind to counter were very nice and very helpful as they pointed out several engagement rings that were somewhat akin to what we were looking for. Ned entered to conversation and it quickly became apparent to him that we had something very particular in mind. My fiancee helped Ned sketch out the design she wanted. Ned followed my fiancee's design perfectly and made some excellent suggestions regarding diamond placement, size, etc. After sketching everything out, we pitched a price point that we were comfortable with, and Ned said "Okay, I can do it for that much." So within an hour, we had a custom design and an established price point. About two weeks later, Ned sent us a digital version of the custom ring (a standard offering from Classy). After some suggestions and edits and requests, Ned made some adjustments and went about making the ring. He found a diamond that fit the ring (and our price point), and by the beginning of November, the ring was finished and ready to go! Aside from the exceptional quality and expertise in crafting the ring, Classy Diamonds simply puts the customer first. They realize that these rings are more than just pieces of jewelry, and they're willing to work with you to make sure the entire situation is as special as it needs to be. On the day I was going to propose, I ran into an insane amount of traffic on my way down to the Jewelry Exchange. Next, a wax mold of the ring was created to enable me to get a real-life feel of what the final product would be before the casting was made. Finally, the ring was cast and the diamonds set before my eyes, allowing me to be fully involved in all steps of the process (by choice). Throughout the process Ned was great at answering my very many questions and always made me feel comfortable. The final piece was truly a work of art that my fiancé loves dearly. The process of finding an "ideal" engagement ring can be an exhausting experience. However; after seeing tons of positive reviews on Classy Diamonds; my current fiancé and I decided to visit. As soon as you walk in the jewelry exchange, you will get bombarded with other vendors asking if you need help. It's actually a turn off. Just a brief backstory, I was first introduced to Mr. Ned through one of my best friends who was in the midst of having rings made for his fiancée (at the time, now wife thankfully!). Prior to meeting Ned, I had NO idea what I was looking for in an engagement ring. A work acquaintance recommended Ned and I figured I'd give it a shot. I called Ned and he ended up staying open late to meet me for the first time, I figured I'll share this little fact to show the type of person he is. I will never be able to express in words how grateful I am to have had Ned come into our lives. I will try me best though! CLASSY DIAMONDS = CLASSY BUSINESS I needed both my engagement and wedding band sized larger, and was very leery about leaving my jewelry with anyone. We've all heard stories of horrible experiences. I was not a regular customer, in fact I 'd never been there before as I do not live in the area. I had only heard of Classy Diamonds from a coworker. So I called and spoke with Ned and he totally understood my apprehension and assured me that my ring could be sized without it leaving my sight. I don't know how to even explain why, but just speaking with Ned (even knowing I was only coming in for a repair and not to make a purchase) all of my fears were gone. So my husband and I made the trip and as soon as we walked up to the counter, Ned knew I was the one who called, without me saying one word! This man is so passionate about jewelry and about my fears, he treated me as if I was his best and only customer. He made sure we were with my rings every step of the way, and he even suggested that I should think about having the prongs on the diamond "beefed up" in the future. Ned is seriously as good as it gets. My fiance proposed to me about a month ago and knew I wanted an emerald cut diamond, but the rest was up to him. I started my search for an engagement ring making my first stop with Ned at Classy Diamonds. I had explained to Ned that I was just starting to look for an engagement ring and I was going to be searching around. It never felt like there was a rush or any pressure to make a purchase. Ned took the time and drew up a beautiful three stone ring. Over the next month I did more research and exploring some other reputable jewelers but truthfully, Ned made me feel more comfortable and at home than anywhere else. I highly recommend Classy Diamonds. I started and ended my search for an engagement ring at Classy Diamonds. Ned and Phil are both very knowledgeable and put no pressure on you whatsoever. They have a great selection of diamonds and take the time(for me at least 5 hours over the course of three visits) to explain them all and the differences between them. Once you pick out the diamond, Ned then took even more time to explain the setting that the diamond would look best in and the different pros and cons to the actual bands. Both Ned and Phil are top notch professionals in their field and have me and my future wife, as customers for life for any and all jewelry. My fiance and I also picked out our wedding bands with Ned and again he took the time to explain and show the different styles and how they would or would not complement her engagement ring. As a further note my fiance receives complements on her engagement ring wherever we go and is very happy with the continued service that Ned and Phil provide, which includes complimentary cleaning and adjusting whenever she stops by.
