Capt Steve had the boat ready to go upon our arrival at Presque Isle Harbor .. zero delays in leaving the dock (I'm not frugal, but I hate to be "on the clock" and have to wait while the person that I'm paying gets ready). Here I have to note that due to his busy schedule, the preferred communication method is text messaging. I never had an issue with communications. Fishing .... Less than 30 minutes after departure, the first Lake Huron fish was on the line. During the next couple of hours, we landed our limit of Lake Trout, put one Steelhead in the cooler and caught/released at least 15 other Lake Trout. Clean Up .... Once back on shore it was a short 20-minute drive to the fish cleaning station at the Alpena Marina (no such facility at Presque Isle Harbor .. yet) Now, I have been cleaning fish for over 60 years, and filleting them for at least 25 ... I am an oaf when compared to Capt Steve. He filleted our catch so well that they could have been a centerfold in any fishing magazine - no meat wasted on the bone (the total meat left from our total catch wouldn't have made 2 fishsticks). Then after cleaning and trimming .. our catch was bagged for the trip home. Bottom Line .... Chum Bucket Charters is a solid, well run outfit and I am planning at least one more trip before Fall.

Clearly, there is no way I could not like this charming little place in the heart of downtown Alpena. The ambiance was cute as can be and everyone seemed warm and friendly. We stopped in for a bite to eat and wound up grabbing a few baked goods for the road. The cupcakes and cookies were pretty good. Aside from being a baked goods shop, they also sold sushi! Yes, I said it- sushi! I wasn't expecting that and I'm not sure how good it was, but the fact that this little lunch spot had sushi was kinda impressive. Other than sushi, they had a host of other decent lunch items on the menu that day, including fresh wraps and salads, as well as the aforementioned baked goods. I was slightly bummed out to see that they didn't have a bigger selection of vegetarian-friendly options, but it was a small cafe in a relatively small town, so I get it. But hey, they had sushi! Management told my Mother In Law to "stop being squeamish". We spent the money ($10 ish?) and time (about an hour) to spray the windows and perimeter of the Condo ourselves and the problem went away. This easily could have, and should have been done by management. Too many other minor problems to name... broken faucets, windows and doors that won't lock, a stove that takes over half an hour to boil water... management blew us off every step of the way. We will not be back, ever. These concerns were brought up AGAIN upon checkout, the deposit was not returned and we were basically told to go screw ourselves.
