Picture this: I'm visiting Portland, borrow a friend's car (because I'm clearly trusted), and promptly introduce the wheel to the curb. *** surprise face - Instant curb rash. Hideous. Stress level: through the roof, since I was leaving town the next day.
Cue frantic phone calls. My friend finds Claro Auto Body--conveniently near the airport, slightly less conveniently in a neighborhood with some, let's say, local color. Driving in, it's like a Netflix doc in the making: dogs chained to vans, a leftover mattress in the middle of the road, interesting... people. Thank goodness it was daylight.
But at the end of the road, literally, was our salvation: Claro's shop, guarded by a gate and a very regal cat named Kitty who clearly runs the place.
Claro himself was an absolute gem. He checked out the damage and quoted me a price so fair I had to double-check I was still in the right universe. Cash in hand, he promised he'd make it like nothing ever happened--and poof, next day: magic. The car looked brand new, as if the curb and I had never had our ill-fated encounter.
To sum it up: Claro, sir, you are not just a body man. You are an auto artist. A wizard of wheels. A sultan of scratch removal. 10/10 would risk the neighborhood wildlife again to get that level of service. read more
