Tippecanoe Boat Company does not prioritize customer service or endeavor to make their mistakes…read moreright. Our family visits the area once a year around the 4th of July to stay on Dewart Lake which is only 5 miles from Tippecanoe Lake. Due to the high rental demand during the summer, we reserved a boat 4 months before our trip to assure availability. With this reservation we also scheduled boat delivery to Dewart Lake. Then...less than one week before our trip, Tippecanoe Boat Company called and told me they would not do a delivery for a single day rental over the weekend, even though this was very clearly the way the reservation contract was originally written. They were going to cancel our reservation. They would not find one person in their company to drive a boat 5 miles to keep their word. Neither could we rent an extra day to get the delivery as everything was booked (exactly the reason we booked 4 months ahead of time). Nor could we pick the boat up ourselves (insurance reasons). The only thing we could do was take all our family away from our cabins on the lake we were vacationing at and hang out all day at their lake. After multiple emails back and forth, Tippecanoe Boat Company refused to bend, completely disappointed an entire group of kids, lost a potential long-term client, and tarnished their reputation. Do not trust their word, or the contracts they write.

Any issues we had with our boat are handled with expert care and efficiency. The crew there treats us like family. Their prices are very reasonable and fair. They take care of our boat every season and each spring I'm amazed at how great she looks when they put her in the water. It's exactly like how I would personally treat her. If you're looking for a marina or a boat service center that actually cares for their customers and strives to treat you like you'd treat yourself, I have only the highest recommendation for Tippecanoe Boat Company.

But everything else is just trash. I purchased a brand new boat last summer. I took it got to be winterized and to warranty fix my boat cover that started to tear. I picked it up and the fall afterwards and didn't look too closely. They fixed the button but not the tear. They also left greasy dirty hand prints and dirty foot prints all over my boat that were such a pain to clean up. I didn't notice the tear was till there until I pulled it out of storage. My fault for not looking at it when I picked it up in the fall. I had it brought back to fix the tear. They fixed it but they left my boat outside in the rain. To fix the cover. A bird took a crap on the back seat. They then didn't put one pole in and put another pole so tight they couldn't snap all the buttons and now another button is tearing because of it. I went to clean the bird poop off and it left behind a yellow stain that I have no idea how to get off now. Also when I picked up the bait my 7 by 5 pin adapter is no longer connected to the boat which I always leave connected. They also winterized my waverunner and when they disconnected the negative terminal from the battery they did not put the screw back in so I had to go find a new screw. They do not care about your property. I would not recommend you use them to take care of yours.

I bought a 2006 Mastercraft boat in February 2025, which seemed great at first--new motor, low…read morehours (approx. under 200), and factory ballast tanks. But after storing it at the marina prior to picking up for the first time, I found the trailer's guide poles missing, and while the sales team couldn't help, I replaced them myself. These guide poles are unique to MasterCraft trailers. When I tried towing, the trailer wiring was faulty. I fixed the ground wire and got it working. I launched the boat at my local dock, but on the first outing, the bilge pump started working overtime. I discovered the leak was from a wire running out of the transom. It took nearly four weeks as it was busy season starting the summer to get the boat into service for the local marina to fix it. Once back in the water, I found additional issues of two unsealed seacocks causing leaks, which I fixed with marine sealant. However, water kept accumulating in the bilge, and the battery alarm went off after an hour. The port ballast pump also didn't work. I took the boat back to the local marina, who later found an inboard shaft leak, a bad alternator, and faulty ballast wiring. By this point, I was frustrated--my family had only used the boat three times having to pull it out of water each run, and I'd missed great weather. Culver Portside Marina had assured me the boat was "water-ready," but they admitted it wasn't tested before sale when contacting them on the most current 3 issues being repaired and my experience so far. They offered no help with the repairs, despite me asking for at least 50% of the repair costs. The sale was "as is," per the owner of Culver Portside but these issues should've been addressed before posting sale or disclosed during the sale had it properly been tested Now we have a $1,300 repair estimate immediately after the purchase . I'd recommend anyone buying from Culver Portside ensure a thorough documented inspection and test everything before purchase, especially since it's mid-July, and I'm still waiting for repairs to finish. With school starting soon, it's tough explaining the situation to kids who were once excited upon hearing of the purchase. This was a boat they claimed to have been serviced by them the past few years.

We purchased 2 Dixie Sternwheeler tickets for $14 TOTAL on Sunday, July 7, 2024 just before the…read more8:00 p.m. trip. The young woman selling the tickets never indicated the Dixie would not be running that night. We learned from others that the Dixie was down, had only made the 2:00 p.m. Sunday trip, and needed repairs. This girl knew the Dixie was not running and sold us tickets for a ride she knew was not happening on Sunday. She told us to return the following day for a ride. On Monday we were told the Dixie was still not repaired just before the ride was to sail. A man was now selling tickets to people and not telling them the Dixie would not be moving either. When anyone objects they are told, "We don't give refunds." Then WHY are you selling tickets for trips that do not exist? We were told to return Tuesday. This time the young woman was selling tickets to customers and not telling them there would be no rides on Tuesday as the Dixie was still down. Frankly, this is fraud selling tickets to ride a sternwheeler that is not working and then refusing to refund consumers' money. We will not be returning to North Webster so our tickets are worthless. The young woman still wanted to sell me another set of tickets Tuesday night until I told her, "You know full-well that boat is not going anywhere." She muttered, "Oh, I forgot." Apparently, it is their job to sell tickets to anyone walking through the door while knowing the boat won't be running. Tell me what you would call this--a scam, fraud, theft? Do not purchase tickets until you see people walking onto the Dixie because you will be losing your money if the ship needs repairs, unless you happen to live in the immediate area of the Dixie. Refunds should be mandatory when the ship is broken and cannot be repaired for days. The sternwheeler was still not running on Wednesday, July 10 yet tickets were being sold to "Ride the Dixie" on that day too. Hmmmmm! I guess they think we are all "suckers" because they stick us with tickets and keep the money.

They wanted to charge significantly more than they initially quoted for the fish finder work. After my complaining they reduced the labor. My biggest issue is when I got the boat home and took off the cover there was lots of fiberglass shavings at the helm and styrofoam pieces all over the place. The interior was filthy and there was lots of water in the bilge making me believe that they stored the boat in their yard with the cover off (I delivered it clean with the cover on). Not a professional operation in my opinion.

In an attempt to correct this problem, long self tapping screws were used. This caused an unsafe situation for myself and ruined the ice container. I took the boat back and the question to me was"do you even use this as an ice bucket". I had hoped their only concern was to return my boat to its original condition. I was told then they would order a new container; to date nothing has been done to rectify this. I have stopped in to the dealer twice and have called many times each with an answer that they will call me back but that has not happened. Due to heart issues I am on blood thinners and the screws that went into the rod area poised a safety concern for me because I bleed very easily. I did replace those screws with stainless steel bolts. They did remove the screw that ruined the ice container and installed a bolt so it could be used and water would not leak into the hull. My last conversation with Jaren (owners son) was on May 13, 2025. He was to find out the status and return my call. As of this post, still nothing! On a positive note, I love my boat and have found a dealership to service it.
