The director of the daycare, Miguel Garcia, is beyond unprofessional. Besides that, the center poses massive safety concerns for the kids. The teachers are great, though. I have nothing bad to say about them. The issues began from the start when I asked Miguel to send me instructions on what to bring and prepare to start daycare. I'm a FTM and I had some questions. After multiple emails and phone calls, Miguel finally sent me a list, which left me scrambling to buy extra things at the last minute. I was concerned about poor communication, but I let it go, hoping it won't be a problem. Then, the bigger issue emerged - children's safety in the daycare. When I was creating an account, I had to create passwords for each person who may pick up our child. I thought that there would be a unique code for each to enter the facility. For the first three days, I just walked in with other parents, which is a concern itself. Anyone can get in the building with no issues. On day four, there was no one to follow, so I tried the password I selected while registering, but it didn't work. I had to call, Ms Jess opened and gave me the code. This code is used by EVERYONE! It means that any person can learn it easily and access the facility, which is a massive security concern. But bear with me; there is more. On Thursday of the second week of daycare, I noticed my daughter had fluid buildup in the crown of her head. I took her to the ER immediately and notified the daycare. In the ER, everyone has been repetitively asking me if she hit her head. I knew she did not hit her head when she was with me (my husband was traveling at that time), but I didn't know anything else. My husband called the daycare, which is a normal thing to do. Miguel instantly said, "Nothing happened." My husband asked to check with teachers just to make sure. Miguel did and confirmed that nothing happened. We relayed this information to the ER team. The CT scan was performed, and no structural damage was found. The ER doctor said that there was no damage, and he didn't know what it was, but there was nothing to be concerned about. The pediatrician whom I took my daughter to right after ED suspected that it could be a rare case of delayed fluid collection after a traumatic birth, which was the case. Miguel called in the evening, and I told him that there was no injury, but the doctors were not sure what it was. I said that our daughter is doing well. Then at 10:30 pm Child Protective Services showed up. To make a long story short, Miguel called and reported child abuse, even knowing that there was no trauma. CPS was surprised because a hospital was obligated to report instances like this, but they never did because there was no trauma. I'm not going to tell you how humiliating and stressful it is. I'm glad our daughter is too little to understand what's going on. Luckily, everyone from CPS we've been dealing with has been extremely pleasant. Miguel not only lied to them when he stated that my husband called angry, accusing a daycare, but he also said that he doesn't have our phone numbers. How don't you have the phone numbers of the parents of a child under your care? My husband has been understanding, saying that Miguel had to cover himself in case something happened to our child. He asked Miguel why he didn't give us at least a heads-up so we knew what to expect. Two days after that, Miguel sent us a message through the app stating that he had to do it. Otherwise, his teacher and he could be fired, and the center could be closed. I leave this information here for everyone to come to their own conclusions. Additional concerns. On the first day at the daycare, Infant rooms A and B were merged after 2:30 p.m. when the Room A teachers left after their shift was over. I found out about this practice after the fact when I came to pick up my daughter. She was in the room with a lot of children and only a few teachers. She cried a lot and looked terrible. The center should disclose this practice in advance. Additionally, I'm concerned that the ratio was not as required. Infants sleep in the same room they play in, which means that the noise and lights are on. My child had a difficult time sleeping in this environment, which the teachers pointed out to me. I saw a child sleeping on the floor a few times during our short time in the daycare. Another thing I didn't realize is that infants don't go outside ever until they're over 12 months. It is not healthy for a child to stay indoors all day long. read more

Today was our last day at this school. My children were here for about 1.5 years and I am very happy and satisfied with the care and education they received. It was a significant sacrifice for me to able to provide this for them, but I am very happy I did. Forgetting child's allergy, and when confronted was ignored, and then began to denied after I have written proof in the journal. The lack of communication coming from the Director Miguel seems like he's high or on something. The kids barely go outside to play. Their nap time are over 2 to 3 hours long. Very outdated location there's no gymnasium. Their playground is very old and broken down a lot of the pieces. Some teachers are decent and finally, but towards the end of the day, you could tell that they are exhausted and overwhelmed from the kids. read more

The staff of KinderCare took care of my son for a month and a half and they were amazing. I wish I could afford to put him there full time but I can't My mother was away on vacation during this time period so I had to place him into daycare. I made the best decision coming here not because it's kindercare but because they're amazing people. I was sure my son wouldn't like Director Miguel because he doesn't like men but surely enough my son loved him and everyone. It breaks our hearts that I had to pull him. But grandmas back now so he doesn't need to go to daycare. I stink at remembering names but his teachers were very informative kind and just down right amazing. They updated me throughout the day with photos and diaper notifications. I'm new to the mom world so I was constantly asking them silly questions in the beginning and after a couple of days they made me feel comfortable that my son was in their care. Sure kindercare is a large company but I didn't care about that. I care about whether my son will be in good hands or not and after many interviews with different daycare it was obvious to not go with this location. If you can afford it I would definitely recommend enrolling your child here. They have several different classes for children with many teachers there to care for your child. I've met questionable teachers in the past and NO ONE here made me feel that way. Being a new mom I learned quite a bit from the short period of time I've been here. It's been almost 2 years since we started at KinderCare and sadly we are staying goodbye while I become a stay at home mom. I think it says something about the center that I tear up when I think about no longer bringing my son there. We have truly grown to love KinderCare and it is due in large part to the people. Every teacher my son has had has been wonderful and I love that we still see all his old teachers around the center. They still come up and talk to him and talk to my newborn daughter. It is like extended family! As an infant, knowing that he had such excellent, nurturing care givers gave me so much peace of mind. As he has gotten older, I have watched him grow into this smart little person and although I would love to take all the credit, it is thanks in large part to KinderCare. I will remember for the rest of my life sitting in our basement one day as he stacked his blocks and counted them to 10 all by himself. I just stared at him shocked bc as much as I wanted my amazing parenting skills to take credit for that one, he learned it all at "school." As a first time parent, I was admittedly anti-daycare center. After going with an in-home provider that was a complete disaster, I opened my mind to centers and I am forever thankful I did. Like many other moms, I did my research in the Scotch Plains/Westfield area for daycares. Ultimately we decided on Kindercare to enroll our 3 month old because of the hours and the structure from infant up to preschool. Of course things may change between now and then, but I have been nothing but pleased with our experience there thus far. The fact that they don't have motorized "babysitters" (aka swings) in the infant classrooms is a testament to the level of care they provide the babies. Their teachers are beyond wonderful. I would take them home if I could. They love the babies to the point of taking them from the carseat as soon as they arrive to not wanting to let go at the end of the day. That kind of warmth and dedication is what you want, especially when you're sad about going back to work. The place is clean, the incident reports are helpful, the staff is happy and they're incredibly responsive to the parents' needs. That's all you want in a daycare. read more

Choosing a daycare was really hard and stressful. We checked out a bunch of places in the area and were pleasantly surprised that we ended up enrolling our son in the one we thought we wouldn't (we initially thought we wanted something smaller, definitely not a chain). We checked out Kindercare b/c of the convenience but ended up being impressed by Carol and the rest of the staff and teachers. Were there bumps in the road initially? Yes!! It's hard deciding where to send your child and getting used to the process was a bear! We put way too much pressure on ourselves. What was important to us was our son's happiness. He liked being dropped off. He had no problem going into his teachers' arms. If you have kids, you know they aren't bashful about who they like or don't. Also, we're a dual income family and needed a daycare with later hours (we're still waiting to hit the mega millions). My advice - stress about picking a daycare b/c it's your child (and you're going to stress anyways). Secondly, think of 2 or 3 things that you aren't willing to compromise on and stick to them. You might not know what they are immediately, but you'll be surprised when they become clear. Let's face it - no place is perfect or one size fits all, especially when you're talking about children. This place is disgusting. Simply put, it is never clean. I dread taking my child here, but it is the only one that is peanut free, so I have no choice. Staff is ok, some are better than others. The food given to kids for lunch needs improvement. read more
