The city has contacted me following the safety procedure. The city said it is the contractor's responsibility to call the city to have the final inspection. I have been trying to contact TriNetwork to work with the city to have the final inspection. But, they said it is customers' responsibility. Please see the attached image for the expired work permit by TriNetwork. Below is from California Contractors State License Board. It is the opposite of what Sebastian says on his email response: A contractor's failure to close out a permit is a serious issue that falls under the jurisdiction of the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Here's a breakdown of what that means and what you can do: The Contractor's Responsibility A contractor who pulls a permit for a project is generally responsible for seeing it through to completion, which includes getting the final inspection and closing out the permit. A permit that is not closed out can cause significant problems for a homeowner, including: 1. Difficulty Selling the Property: An open permit is a red flag for potential buyers and can complicate or even halt a real estate transaction. 2. Liability Issues: The homeowner may be exposed to liability if there are code violations or safety issues with the uninspected work. 3. Fines and Penalties: Local building departments can issue fines or other penalties for work that was done without a final inspection.
