Wow. It's not a huge store. Hell it barely has Juch branding from outside but I specially ventured here because they had a rare limited edition beer and thy had that and then some! A quality array of craft beers this is a great place for any beer fan. They have three shops; Clapton, Walthamstow and Kentish Town. I went to the latter and was impressed so much I took advantage of their 10% discount for 12 bottles or more. Service friendly and it's a cool shop to browse and tick some great IPA's off your list. Some must haves in there to pick from.

I was grooving to the Highgate frequency when I stopped in here to get a spinanch/hummus sandwhich and a soy shake, This store isn't that overpriced considering the location across the street from Highgate Wood. Deli and Delights has a nice selection of Blue Dragon soup, Seggiano sauce (makers of the best pesto sauce around) and loads of expensive chocolates. I felt fabulous shopping here.

(I'm not actually vegan; the pesto is just wonderful!) You know that you've found indulgence when you've found a shop that sells tea in pillows rather than bags. You know when you've found love when you've found a shop that sells organic lime and tequila marmalade. The place is just outside Highgate Underground station and one of the first places I shopped when I first moved here. The place is small, not particularly pretentious but very artisan and supplies more simple things such as a small selection of frozen foods and toiletries. I try not to come here as I do tend to raid the antipasti and the weird and wonderful marmalade. So much quality so much temptation and worth a visit.

While it…read moreis a wine store first and foremost, Hops 'n' Pops does have a numerous amount of beer in stock as well. However, the beer selection was quite disappointing at the same time (I'll also be the first to admit that I know basically nothing about wine). There were some good brews available such as Brooklyn and Wychwood. Most of the items, though, were Kronenbourg, Strongbow, etc. I felt that some of it was quite overpriced as well. A bottle of Brooklyn was £1.99, which is really nothing to scoff at for an import. Yet Samuel Smith's beers were £3 for a pint - the same as/and in some cases more expensive than a draught pint at a pub. The thing that really irked me and what cost Hops 'N' Pops a star was the unfriendliness of its staff. There was one man working during my visit, and he wasn't really working very hard - just empty boxes around, dusting off a shelf and whatnot. Yet when I asked him a question, he acted as if he would rather be anywhere else in the world. He was cold, rude and never actually answered my question. I'm hoping that my experience was the exception, and not the rule. Otherwise, if you live in the Highgate area, they have some decent alcohols to check out.

It is wall to wall alcohol dispensed by a couple of Greek or Middle Eastern (I can't really tell. Ooops!) guys who are always welcoming. The store has the old magical feel of a Diagon Alley wizardry shop. They have an awesome selection of spirits at very reasonable prices. There are also wonderful credit crunch beating deals such as two bottles of wine for £5. My favourite finds are Aperol, awesome Mount Gay rum for £12 and scrumptious Desperado beer. Drinkers Paradise, you are fantastic.

That reason is that beer can be "light struck". Light struck is the term used when the hop compounds that cause yummy bitterness react with UV light to produce methyl butane thiol (MBT). MBT is a similar chemical that Skunks use to make their fantastically stinky skunk smell. Beer in cans block out all UV ray, brown bottles most, green less and clear none. When you approach Drinkers Paradise, it's quite apparent that there are many bottles visible in the window. I'm guessing the owners aren't the biggest beer drinkers. Not to mention the big Fosters logo on the outside to make anyone who enjoys good beer cringe. Please for the love of God stay away from Drinkers Paradise.

(There are plenty of other countries in there, too.) The American selection was quite impressive. There was stuff in here I couldn't even buy when I lived in New York City last year! Lost Abbey/Port Brewing, Odell, and Big Sky are in there, to name a few. (None of these beers are distributed in New York.) The shop itself is tiny but the space is utilized to the max. Thankfully, while I was in there there was never more than one other customer. It could get cramped very quickly, I think. And what I liked the most was that all the bottles were labled with the price. (This is not the case at Utobeer.) And the prices are better than decent. Some real bargains can be found, but for the most part the prices are fair. Sure, Kris Wines is a bit outside the city center, but there is a bus stop right nearby, and the walk from Euston Street is only about 30 minutes. I can't wait to go back.
