I called, confirmed that they took walk-ins, got quoted $5, and then drove down a little later in the day. I parked on Main St which was fine for that time of the day and that part of town. The piercer was out, but the tattoo artist came out and greeted me and was friendly and polite. He said the piercer would be back in a few minutes and called her to let her know I was here. While I waited I looked around the shop. Clean, lots of jewelry & artwork on display, very typical tattoo/piercing studio atmosphere. The piercer (Shannyn I think?) arrived, showed me into a private room and we discussed what I needed. A fresh, disposable sheet was laid out on the table, and pliers were taken out of sterile autoclave bags. Yay sterility! The jewelry went in nicely and she inserted the bead nice and snugly. We spent a couple of minutes talking about other potential piercings and she took a look at another one of my old piercing holes to see if it was still open and if I could get the area repierced with a slightly more desirable position. The whole thing was done really quick and she was pleasant and friendly. She was going to change me $10, I told her I'd been quoted $5 on the phone (I got the feeling there was no standard pricing for something like this) and she was fine with that and charged me the $5 + tax, no argument. My one experience there was good - I can't speak to her actual piercing skills, but they'd definitely be on my list of shops to consider & look into more if I'm ever in the market for a new piercer.

Our discussion began with an disagreement about colour. Only when I pulled up a picture on my phone did he agree on the colours. The truth is I should have walked out then and forfeited the deposit. I'm not a tattoo novice. I have a total of twelve, all over my body, in sensitive and non sensitive areas, including one right near where Victor's work was to go. It hurt. It was not excruciating, but it was painful. The end result was a mess of colour and blood. Within a day the scabbing had begun and it was two full weeks before it all finally came off. A month later, the tattoo still has small sections that are not fully healed. The colour in the centre has pretty much fallen away. Remember, I am not a tattoo novice. I know how to care for tattoos and have incredible colour work elsewhere on my body. This is not lack of care. When this mess heals and settles I will be seeing another artist, whom I know well, and whom has put coloured ink elsewhere on my body. This tattoo will be paid for a second time, but this time I know I will pay for a much better quality job. Lesson learned: Walk out next time. It's just money. Better lesson learned: No one gets to tattoo my body unless I have seen their work on another body. Not a picture, not a word of mouth recommendation. I will have to actually see work and speak to the person about it.

After coming to realize that I wasn't going to take just any tattoo and then I wanted help to source out the perfect font, the artist disappeared with the deposit and did not contact me for weeks on end. Several weeks later, she told me that she hadn't any time to work on the tattoo. I called The tattoo shop and expressed to the owner that I was dissatisfied with the service I had received and wanted to take my money back and go get a tattoo elsewhere. The $200 that was paid for the tattoo is now going toward a tattoo for my sister that she will be getting just because Metamorphosis/Katie wouldn't give me any money back on a tattoo that they did not/would not do. I offered the artist, Katie one more chance to do this tattoo for me now that I have designed it myself with the help of an artist that I hired. Katie said no. I see that other people seem to have had good experiences with Metamorphosis. I can safely say that I on the other hand have had a dreadfully bad experience, having had given the company and the individual tattoo artist a chance to make this right with me on several OK Asians occasions, but to no avail. I would highly recommend not getting your tattoo here at metamorphosis if you're looking for help from the artist with your creative process. I'm not sure about the rest of the artists, but Katie was not helpful to get me here to the finish line where I stand now, deeply satasfied with the work having had been done elsewhere.

She gave my Mom suggestions and helped her choose the design she wanted. The session went very smoothly. Flo is absolutely amazing and she did a wonderful job on both of our tattoos. The rooms are pretty small, so while my Mom was being tattooed I had to sit on a chair in the hall. (And same for her while I was being done.) Even though I had to sit in the hall, I still felt very welcome. Flo made me feel very comfortable and I felt like I had known her for years.

After posting that review on Google, the artist, Karen, contacted me saying that because of the actions of my abusive ex husband that I had nothing to do with, she refuses to ever finish it or talk to me. Being stuck in an abusive marriage for years, not able to leave has caused me so much pain. To have his actions still affect me in my life is devastating. Especially to have a permanent reminder of it on my body because of her. I was able to find the strength and courage to get out of a horrible, abusive marriage, find love again and make a great life for myself. I hope that any woman that has endured severe domestic abuse, never goes to this shop and DEFINITELY does not go to Karen for a tattoo due to extreme lack of empathy towards domestic abuse survivors.
