It's very rare that I find myself needing or wanting to come to the Burr Ridge Village Center…read moreexcept for dinner. Most of the shops don't cater to a 30-something man, but are slanted more toward the "Ladies Who Lunch" crowd. If they were trying to market more to my demographic I'd suggest a couple of electronics stores like Apple or Bose and maybe an Old Navy. But let's face it, they're not. And that's okay (I assume?). When I do find myself here, I think parking is always difficult. There's a lack of convenient spaces, and for some reason the alignment causes people not to fully see you when they're backing out. Or perhaps they just don't give a f*ck because those rich Burr Ridge ladies can afford more insurance on their fancy Jaguars than I can on my simple Chevy. But I digress. Overall the shopping center is nice, and the restaurants are very good. I like the location and would absolutely shop here more if there were more for me.

I like one of the hotels in the area and stay often but alas, I don't always feel welcomed as a Black woman in this area. This all changed when I walked into Dear Prudence! Anastasia was BEYOND welcoming and warm. I felt seen and felt like a valued client. She was helping another couple at the time but made sure to greet me as I walked in with a smile and asked if I need any support choosing a piece ... and not in a pushy/condescending manner but with genuine, earnest support and friendliness. The other stores/restaurants in this area could use an Anastasia.... This is my sixth stay in the area and the very FIRST time that part from the awesome hotel I stay at, I didn't feel that I wasn't welcome. Thank you Anastasia... I will be back! And of course... the clothes are great! I bought a black long sleeved dress that may make me brave colder temps to come back to the Chi!

This woman gave me such a hard time, telling me I should exchange this for something else, they have so many new things, etc. I kept telling her no thank you, I'm not interested. So, she started to show me scarves and a purse that she thought would look great on me, again, I said no, thank you. This went on for like 10-15 minutes. Then finally, as she was processing my return, she said I have to give her my phone number, email and address in order to finalize the return. I said no, you don't need that information. Then she smirks at me and says, I'm sorry, but we won't be able to do the return then. Really? You need all of this information to make a return? I called another location (Oak Brook) and asked if the above "policy" about returns was valid. She said absolutely not. We only ask that if you want to be on our mailing list (for catalogs) and receive special offers through your email.

I was working out across the street and made it 10 min before close...it was the only opportunity to try on a dress. I showed up and these ladies had 8 dresses, with shawls, shoes and accessories waiting for me in the dressing room. Amazing service in such short notice. They never made me feel rushed and it was their mission to make me feel comfortable with what I was trying on. Such great service! I felt like a million bucks!
