Editor's big sister (although it's actually younger, having only opened four months ago), the clothes are designed for the slightly more mature lady, and the exceedingly pretty shop really emphasises this. With it's distressed white and mint green furniture, with touches of light pink, this boutique is feminine and grownup. Think floaty dresses, classy scarves and hand bags, and extremely wearable tops...there's nothing dowdy in here whatsoever! I noticed a really lovely Ted Baker top, brightly coloured and displayed under a gorgeous coral cardigan which was reduced to £30. Not only was this something that even I would wear, I was extremely impressed with the prices. Totally affordable. Elegant, chic and dazzling...you'll soon be as beautiful as a dragonfly (yep, I just coined a phrase...dragonflies *are* the new butterflies).

It was a difficult decision, but I told myself, "Lynne, dear only know when you'll next be dressing up!", and decided to (wisely) avoid buying one of the wonderful outfits. However, when I'm in need of said outfit, I'm reckoning Laughin Stock (isn't that such a fab name?!) will be my first port of call. It has such a huge variety - nun's costumes to Daphne from Scooby Doo outfits; Red Indian costumes to Dennis the Menace outfits, and everything in between. Furthermore, they have the largest variety of wigs I've seen in a fancy dress shop, plus tons of accessories (including a few humorous / joke ones...I'll leave the rest to your imagination), as well as some cute animal puppets. When we popped in, the shop assistant was busy sorting out a customer on the phone, so I didn't hassle him, nor him us. He certainly knew his stuff, and offered to put in a special delivery for the person on the other end. Super. Pay this cracker fancy dress shop a visit. You'll be a laughin' stock otherwise...

I finally got around to it last year when I needed not one, but two outfits for parties I was attending. I had already managed to get one elsewhere, but didn't fancy wearing the same thing twice given the fact that the two parties were one night apart. I had had a look on the website of Laughin Stock and decided to call in, because they seemed to have a better range than the place I'd got my previous one from. I called in on the Friday and picked up the pirate outfit I had already decided upon, and couldnt help but notice that they also stocked the exactt same costume as the one I had already purchased elsewhere, but for a fiver cheaper, I wish I'd come here first!

The staff quality varies from very friendly and helpful members to just the average non-fussed type. I would say Gems was best for buying cheaper items out of, I don't know if I would have confidence in buying anything too expensive out of there. We had bought something fairly dear out of there and it took forever for it to come back from getting sized. A better member of staff got it sorted in the end.

What a gorgeous jewelry store!…read more I went in here with mom for a browse and we ended up caught up in here for about twenty minutes trying on rings. Mom and i both love semi precious, and precious gemstomes, so it was easy to spend time there. They shared with us that all jewelry there is made inhouse. They are not re-sellers. They buy the materials and make the jewelry. The prices there are a little higher, but not out of this world. But quality does come with a gentle premium. If you are looking for a higher end gift, this is the place to go.

They have a vast variety of costumes in here, from 70's retro, to pirates to father Christmas and everything in between! They also sell lots of cool accessories and wigs and if you can't find what you're looking for they have a catalogue full of stuff you can order in! It's great! The advent of IPods and online stores may have been the beginning of the end…read morefor the traditional music store, with Zavvi the most high profile casualty, but HMV isn't going down without a fight, and this is a really nice store away from the supremely busy nature of the flagship HMV store in Belfast. I used to buy a lot of music when I was younger and had no financial demands to me , and I am now shamefully a downloader of epic proportion, but I can always say that I enjoy having a physical entity more than just a download. I love having the feel of the box, the warm sound of the CD and leaving through the artwork, and I have similar feelings towards DVDs as well. This store has a very good selection of all the best music in all genres of music, and the same can be said of DVDs. The store has a good selection of memorabilia and music/movie tie ins like t shirts and posters, and hs recently expanded its selection of music players and accessories and video games and consoles. The store is clean and well laid out, with the staff friendly from my experience. Unfortunately me, my 1.5TB Hard Drive, WD Media Player and Utorrent and a range of websites means my visits are increasingly irregular... sorry HMV!

I simply love all things bright and sparkly to do with jewellery…read more Midas is a reasonably large jewellers in the centre of Lisburn, and I was first attracted to it a number of months ago when I was looking for a new charm for my Pandora bracelet, and noticed that they stocked them. I had a quick scan around the shop when I entered, and they have a fantastic range of gorgeous jewellery available. They also offer bespoke jewellery, repairs, and resizing. The assistant quickly came to greet me after dealing with her current client and showed me their display of Pandora charms. I picked out one I liked and she tried to get it for me, but unfortunately it was out of stock. This was the case for the next two I chose (cry) fortunately, the next one on my list, a little ladybird, was available, and I told her I purchased it. The store is fantastic and they offer the best range of Pandora in Lisburn besides Argento, and the other items they have in stock are beautiful, think I might be going there for my Christmas list ideas!

With a good range of all the latest DVDs and CDs, HMV is probably the best place to get films or…read moremusic in town. There is a varied and eclectic mix of music available, with sections for all the different genres, the same also can be said for the DVD side of the shop. Definitely the best place to find films/music that aren't in the 'Top Ten'. HMV also stock video games and consoles, a small range of music or film related books, and ipods and accessories. The staff are alright. One thing that annoys me though are the sudden price jumps there can be at times, (just ahead of a sale where they are then 'reduced'!)

HMV have a style which is understated.....or they just paint everything black so that it's easy to clean! I love going in here on a lousy day and just paying some random comedy DVD to cheer me up. The upside is that they always have stuff on sale, and not just the rubbish people don't want any more. They always have an outstanding collection of books that you wouldn't expect to find in the store such as HMV. I recently got Bill Bryson's new book for £7, a flipping steal! Whilst they might all be a little uniform, they are still worth having a peak into, just incase!
