Tried kickboxing for the first time! They offer a trial class. It's a group cardio kickboxing class, but they do offer personal training. I talked to Allen on the phone and he was nice & answered any questions needed. Sean was my instructor and he has good sense- 20 years of experience and does a balance of punching workouts and abs. There's a new female instructor i think her name is maddie maybe, but she's bright. Music they play is like classic pop/rap with some edm element. If you're not coordinated don't worry as you do things at your own pace. And come in 20 min before to get the basics down. I would get to know jab, cross, hook and uppercut and kick differences before so you are able to follow. You need to bring wraps, gloves and water bottle ( they have a station and 2 nice coed bathrooms). Water breaks are on your own judgement. The studio is quite big with lots of bags, enough to space out and everything is matted. No sparring or rounds, you basically just keep going doing different exercised for the hour. There's mostly regulars here, with varying types of levels. They sell equipment needed for the lesson at the front. Parking wise, the lot is quite chill and there's lots of spaces definitely contrast to the music booming from the studio. Overall, its a solid workout with people who know their stuff. Age range is on the middle age side. If you like hiit styles and not too much management then you'll enjoy this :) if you're interested as a beginner, check out Groupon! Why did it take me this long to write a review to one of my favorite places? I can't remember when I started at this gym but that was since 2016 or 2017? But anyways, I love going to CKO. Apart from a warm, friendly coaches and owner Allen, this kickboxing gym is about improving yourself: improving your life. It doesn't teach you a lot about kickboxing itself, but this gym is on a more holistic approach: high intensity cardio, core strengthening, conditioning, and overall fitness workout. You basically do everything which makes it so addictive and highly beneficial. Plus the music remixes feel like you're partying in a club while you're sweating it out, it's fun! The crowds are friendly and the mainstays like me encourages new people to show up more and become a family. Allen is a great coach, and a very attentive one to the needs of his members. I always take his classes because it's very challenging and exhausting (a great kind of exhaustion). I find it thrilling afterwards with all the sweat and tears literally lol. My advice is sweat it out, nobody judges you on how you punch or kick the bag. You do you. Do the best you can. Allen gives his boxing sets for you to do, but you can do your own if you can't level the intensity of the set. Nobody's judging. Do you! Better yourself, and improve your life! Love it. read more

CKO has given me so much more than a "cardio" based workout. My body has changed, it's more defined, I've gained muscle mass, I am stronger, more toned, and have lost weight consistently without gaining it back. My endurance is noticeably improved. Plus, there's accountability from the couches, Sean is the best btw , and without them I would not have the motivation to wake up at 5:30am 3 times a week! Kickboxing is my favorite type of workout for both getting fit and eliminating stress. This studio is well equipped with plenty of high-quality bags and Alan is a fantastic instructor. You will sweat, you will leave exhausted, and you will feel amazing afterward. There are plenty of classes to chose from during weekdays and weekends although I wish they offered an 8 am class during the week. There's usually a 9:30 which can be a little tricky with a normal work schedule. I also wish they would do special weekend evening "lights off" classes with disco lights or possibly even a live DJ. Events like that would be tremendous fun and would help the gym stand out from the crowd. Everyone I have met at this gym has been friendly and welcoming and there's a wide mix of beginners so if you've never done a kickboxing workout before, this gym is perfect for getting started. The classes don't focus on technique all that much and it's more fitness-oriented. The music is great too so it feels a bit like a dance party at times. I 100% recommend this gym for all ages and skill levels. I believe you can get a free pass if it's your first time, so definitely check it out! read more

I have been a CKO member for over 5 years now and I love going to my kickbox class each and every time. My favorite time slot is the 9:30am class taught by Shaun. His classes are always fun and engaging because he modifies each class so it's never the same workout each time. In one hour I get a great upper and lower body workout plus crazy cardio. Most recently, I attended the first 2 hrs self defense seminar taught by Shaun and Allen assisted. Shaun taught us simple moves to get away from bad situations and we practiced with a partner in class. Allen was sensitive to the fact that some people may not like to do partner work with strangers, so he gave us the option to not participate and just watch. Let's just say you learn so much more if you physically practice those moves. Because even though Shaun made it all look so easy, there were many nuances to actually perfecting the moves. The class was so informative and fun that the 2 hours went by super fast. I am looking forward to the next self defense seminar so I can learn more new moves and perfect the ones I learned previously. read more

Great introductory course! Signed for their introductory course for $20 which came with 3 classes (Any day and time frame - which would need to he used within 2 weeks). The course also comes with a pair of boxing gloves for you to keep. Each class is about an hour. You can check their website for a list of their classes and times those classes begin. The location is near a lot of eateries. I ate at Moe's deli two storefronts down. Lol. The place is clean enough. The bathrooms are gender neutral and there are two of them. People use them to change cloths. The drinking fountain is pretty good as it lets you refill your bottle or drink container via motion sensor. I signed up for the three session trial period. For it, I got a pair of boxing gloves and three workout sessions that expire within one week of when I got them. I did all three workout sessions. The sessions were all about a punching bag and running around them with the rest of the class. The music was nice. The instructor was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Workout showed me how tired and out of shape I have become. By the end of the third workout I had become better at jabs, crosses, and roundhouse kicks. It is a theme gym that focuses on kickboxing without sparring. The gym is good for beginners who want to learn basic kickboxing moves and punch/kick a punching bag. I am just not a kickboxing or boxing enthusiast. I feel like a lot of the people who do these workout here are into it. Not my scene or crowd. read more

Love this place. I'm officially addicted to kickboxing. My son is also a member and takes private training classes with Allen. It's hard. Really hard BUT so worth it. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. I really like the other members. It truly feels like a team, even though we have our own bags/space. I've been looking for a good fitness workout to go back to shape 6 months ago and heard a lot good feedback about kickboxing. Since I joined CKO kickboxing classes I see a lot of change and progress in myself. I was suffering from low metabolism due to intense diets and fasting. 21 day challenge program helped me a lot to correct my mistakes regarding foods and lose more than 8 pounds. I started with 3 times a week at first and now I go 4-5 times a week plus yoga class by Cidney which is very helpful to learn the balance during kickboxing. Love this place! So glad my sister told me about it. I've only been a member for about a month but I'm hooked. I get a total body workout and am usually drenched in sweat by the end of class. The best part is that it's so much fun it doesn't feel like work. There's great music pumping through the speakers which is also a plus and really gets me going. Allen is a great instructor and really motivating. He kicks your butt (not literally lol) but you just wanna keep coming back for more. DONT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS PLACE!!!! Me and my wife signed up with this place in July 2018 for one year paid up front $1800, in January I got injured and had shoulder surgery in February in which we had 5 months left of our contract and I could no longer go to CKO per PT and DR took me out of all activities, per shoulder injury me and my wife had to cancel our membership and Allan made it difficult for us to cancel our membership even though per there policy I qualified to cancel our membership due to my injury, while cancellation Allan the awful owner has ignored a lot of our responses to our cancellation and cancelled our membership in February, Allan also violated his own contract and policy by not refunding our remaining amount in 10 days and yet wanted to charge my wife for early cancellation when he couldn't abide by his own, BAD BUSINESS! This is why people don't do contracts anymore! read more

I made the HUGE mistake of signing up for a whole year membership in January 2018 without reading the fine print. You literally have to die to get out of this contract, it's insane! I accepted I was going to be stuck paying the remaining months and called them Jan 1st 2019 to make sure it was cancelled. The guy who answered said I had to email to cancel, uhhh ok. So I emailed and no one has called me back or responded. I called again and no answer. Of course I'm looking at my CC statement and sure enough another month charged. I stuck to the contract and gave you $70 a month for 12 months even after I stopped going after the second month!!!! Now please let me out of this contract!!! It's ridiculous. I also did not enjoy the classes at all and would much rather go to Soul Cycle or do Kayla BBG workouts at home. read more

Initially I was looking for a kickboxing studio that I could attend classes for. I'm new to kickboxing so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't feel uncomfortable in classes. When I called and got more information, I learned about the 10 week challenge which includes unlimited access to classes. The tools they provided included nutritional guidance, a weekly meeting with your coach, a notebook with instructions for goal setting, etc. The whole program has exceeded my expectations for the following reasons: 1) The classes are AWESOME. They accommodate all levels of fitness and experience (I am a beginner so this was very important to me) 2) The people at the classes are very warm and welcoming (the staff & students) 3) The studio is clean 4) It's easy to have success on the program because of the accountability factor My energy level is already so much higher and it's only been two weeks! LOVE this place with the instructor Allen who not only was super attentive to all his students but also to me, a first time fitness fanatic to kickboxing. The workout is intense and fast -- two qualities I crave to get pumped up and motivated. Allen gives you direction and yells out kickboxing moves while adding in new moves such as burpees, push-ups, squats etc so you not only get to tone your arms but also get bursts of cardio. The only negative thing is that this studio only does membership and not individual classes so it makes it hard for people who are moving from city to city but I will definitely be buying a groupon and coming back! read more

They bomb your text and email as soon as you sign up. The day I showed up the gym was still locked until 20 minutes before class. They do give you an orientation and are friendly. All fitness levels in the class. I found that kick boxing (at least here) just isn't the workout for me. But now I'm out $20 and have a pair of gloves I won't use again. Great place to get a heart thumping workout. I am taking a few classes through the groupon deal (which includes the gloves in the pricing -you do need them to take a class) and it's an awesome deal. Allen and Cheryl take the time to help you first with technique and continue to help with form as you take more classes. You can definitely go at your own pace, but both A&C help motivate you to push yourself. I found out they also offer 10 class packs, which works much better for my schedule. It's in a small mall area, and the gym area reminds me of the warehouse type of places, but Allen keeps it cool and very clean (thank you! nothing worse than a gross place to work out.) CKO is an awesome place to get a killer workout! Great way to get your butt kicked! I'd been feeling weak and unfit lately, which I HATE. These workouts are already helping me feel better. After losing about 90 pounds a few years ago, the weight has lately been slowly creeping back on and I am NEVER going back to where I was. I know going to CKO will DEFINITELY get me back to my "fightin' weight" and keep me there! Plus, it's a great place for my husband and I to work out together because everything is totally at your own pace. We've only had classes with Allen so far (who has been a GREAT instructor - b.t.w.), but we've heard good things about Sheryl too from the other people we've met in the classes and will probably end up in some of her classes to as we ramp up the number of times a week we go! read more

I don't know why it took me so long to review this place, especially because I've been attending for more than half a year now but I digress. Allen is an amazing instructor and he is very attentive to everybody's needs. He's also very knowledgeable about taking care of your body and getting healthy. He's an amazing instructor and says motivational words when he sees that you're getting tired (I personally find that to be very helpful). I was originally very intimidated, but as I attended I grew more comfortable because we are allowed to go at our own pace. I don't have much of an opinion on the other instructors because I've never taken their classes, but I'm sure they're just as great. This class kicked my butt. It was a high intensity workout but it makes you feel good in the end and Allen motivates you throughout the entire hour. Pace yourself though! This was my first workout class in a loooong time and I usually take dance classes, so I was just thinking, "follow along with what the instructor is saying and to the beat of the music"...I pushed myself too hard that I started tasting blood in the back of my nose LOL. I just took a couple minutes sitting down on the bench and got some fresh air and got back into it, just slowed the pace down. I also got the 3 classes and boxing gloves for $19.99, so even if I didn't go to all 3 classes, I already got the value of one walk-in class. I just wish the location was closer to where I live, but when I'm in Laguna Hills and I don't forget my gloves, I'll be sure to go again! read more
