I walked the garden and took photos. It was warm and humid, so I didn't really relax and sit a spell. Like many public gardens, the Toledo Botanical Garden, out toward the western end of the city, mixes up formal garden spaces with European cues and more organic spaces, meaning they are natural in affect and display very little rigid planning. I was fairly amazed how, as you moved along, these different vistas came into view. Everything was cohesively put together and you could enjoy the different environments they've curated for you. The Toledo Botanical Garden is part of the city metro park system, which I learned from other reviews. Thus, being under this umbrella might mean that the park is free of charge ... and it is! For this aspect and for delivering more than I had expected, having pulled it from a "top things to do" list, I believe the Toledo Botanical Garden handily earns 5 stars.

Upon conclusion of the exchanging of the vows, we all went inside the building for a nice reception. The Stables is reminiscent of an old barn, refurbished into a modern gathering hall. With high ceilings, you could easily install a full sized basketball court within it's walls. The staff and caterers and DJ worked seamlessly to make the event a memorable one. I didn't check on many details, but I believe City Barbeque did the food catering. Food and drink were plentiful, the atmosphere inside the building was very relaxed, and a bonfire was available after dinner. "The Oak Openings Region is a globally rare ecosystem composed of over 130 square miles in Northwest Ohio. The land consists largely of oak savanna and grassland prairie. It was like it was meant to be. Everyone found out the surprise accidently a week prior to the wedding thanks to The Toledo Blade but the staff here would have kept the secret for us otherwise. You honestly couldn't ask for a better venue in the area. Full of history and charm. Then you have the amazing staff there that truly go above and beyond. We only had 30 guests for our wedding and the staff made sure everyone was taken care of. Food was delicious, hot, and all had unique flavors. Which doesn't always happen group dining options. The Oliver House is where I got to marry the love of my life, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Will be dining here for many years to come.
