Once inside, everything was so organized. A table to check the COVID vaccine card and passport was the first station. Next, walked to the NCL checkin counter. No line on a Tuesday afternoon! After a temperature scan, our documents were checked and we were set to board. Even won the balcony upgrade lottery for a nice balcony on the 11th floor. At the last stop, hand luggage was scanned like an airport screening. So easy and so efficient. A perfect way to start a western Mediterranean cruise. Bon Voyage!

First of all you get Julian who speaks fluent English and knows the city of Rome and Naples like the back of his hand. This man was the single most important reason why our "day" trip was so successful. It started at 7am but we were late but Julian wasn't. He showed up in a exceptionally clean Mercedes van large enough to carry 6 adults with ease and comfort. He gave us the tour in Rome pointing out things we didn't even know we wanted to see. For the uninitiated if your American ass thinks your driving in Rome in a rental car and think it's all good your so mistaken. Your going to get in a accident or hit a pedestrian. Take it to the bank. You could spend $200 Euro for a travel bus but you just screwed yourself in quality and excitement not to mention the personal touch of a guided tour of the best driver Italy has to offer. Julian is just so much fun. Heading to Palermo after Naples the traffic was truly screwed. It was a least a hour just sitting behind the tour buses but Julian saved the day. He took is thru the craziest most beautiful areas most tourists won't ever see. Also you would be afraid to try as many of the areas were capable of only one lane of traffic. Omg I can't tell you how grateful we were not to have to sit in that as we are from San Francisco and have to deal with that gridlock on a daily basis. When we arrived in Palermo Julian took us to the very best food we have ever enjoyed in our lives. I mean that literally. I had no idea how much the restaurants in the USA have been screwing me over my entire life. The pasta is just so damn good. But what completely surprised all of us was the sea food. The best of food anywhere in the world. The desserts were just as good as the main course. If you go tell Julian to take you to his friends restaurant. We can go on and on about the food but this is about a review about the limousine service. When it's all said and done Julian got us back home around 10pm. Our last stop was the volcano. Julian is a family man and took the time to buy his wife and kids souvenirs himself. Loved that. All of us did. Being in Italy for the first time had all of us on edge about trust and being ripped off by everyone. The truth is whatever we paid for was deserved just for the safety we felt with Julian. When you see the military everywhere in Rome it's just such a relief to be in the presence of someone like this who can easily explain things to you so it makes sense. IE why are there no lids on the toilet bowls ?? Well Julian explained why. I can't overstate how much Julian made our trip so awesome !! Julian knows the land , back roads , the restaurants , and was so very patient with a bunch of Americans who made his life really difficult for one entire day. The prices for Julian are half of what a tour bus are and no where near exciting or entertaining. He was a total joy to be with. He is a excellent conversationalist and really funny. ( know what FIAT stands for ? Fix It Again Tony !!! LOLOL ) Trust me when I say if you are new to Rome or thereabouts this is the only company you want to deal with. Thank you Julian from all of us. You made everyone feel safe and you gave us the very best day in Italy we had. Even better than Venice. That Julian with the tie and some other scenic pictures for the drive. Also for the uninformed , make sure you understand that when you have a personal driver his expenses are yours. I'm referring to food , coffee breaks, etc. and hell yes you tip at the end of the ride. That's also what I liked about Julian. The next day, we had a transfer to Civitavecchia cruise port. CLAUDIO brought us to the cruise terminal. He has special drop off access and he dropped us off right at the terminal. *If your driver doesn't have special access, you'll get dropped off at the main security drop off which it is about a 2 mile walk to the specific terminal of your cruise*. *Make sure your transfer operator HAS special access*. During the cruise, one stop was at Naples. We used DriverInRome. GUGLIELMO was our driver AND guide for the Amalfi Coast. We left immediately since it's over an hr drive to the first town of Ravello. He grew up and lives in Naples and was a great guide. We stop at a scenic place overlooking Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii. Once we arrived in Ravello, we were able to walk around and WE LOVE RAVELLO! Gorgeous! We stopped in Atrani, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. We had a great time! When our cruise was over our transfer driver was MARICA. She was nice but spoke very little English. The next day we had a full day tour of Rome with ALISANDRO. He grew up in Rome and knew EVERYTHING about Rome. He booked a private Vatican tour for us. INCREDIBLE! He showed us the Colosseum, the underground Catacombs and so much more! One of the best guides we had. LOUIS was our last day transfer to the Airport. All drivers were nice, polite, professional and our guides were GREAT! I highly recommend using them whether for a single day or for a custom package.

It seemed like they rounded up anyone associated with Virgin (employees and guests) and threw them out. Everyone here is Virgin staff, maybe a few guests, and the best part is this place is worse than a hostile. The staff tried to help but only so much you can do with an abandoned property. Avoid getting ripped off. Don't pay in advance and it's still a dice roll. The hotel looked beautiful. Wish we had gotten to see it.

How does a tour company make itself absolutely unavailable for any customers for almost a week. So the day of the week is not the issue. 7 days is a long vacation. The simple reason the Tour Guy does this is because they will say let us take you on the tour again for free. KNOWING 100% 2 weeks later the customer will be in another town or back to normal life. The Tour Guys ratings, itinerary, and talking about "our guides" and " our tours" is a scam and should be looked into. We booked 10 total exclusive tours with them totaling several $4,000+++ and can get ZERO RESPONSE. How do you think k they will treat you if your family books one and this is how they treat my family. They take your money and then force and shove you into whatever company and tour they choose. They also DO NOT MAKES SURE YOU GET ALL ATTRACTIONS PAID FOR. The tours the company actually did were fantastic and we tipped every single guide. We thanked all staff members and had zero complaints. The Tour Guy ruined a life long dream to spend 1/2 day in the coliseum with my son on my birthday. They do NOT care and will NOT respond once they have their hands on your hard earned money. I'm extremely mad and gutted that they sold my family to a portly run cheap company while pocketing all the extra money we paid. Zero care that we got less than 10% of what they promised and we paid for. Zero interest and integrity to making things right or finding a balance and path forward. This was a day in Rome where we wanted him to essentially chauffeur us through various religious sites. We gave him a list and depending on time he figured out the best way to see what we could. He would literally drop us off in front of any site and wait for us. This was pretty helpful as some of the churches were a bit far from where we were staying in Rome and we would have been zigzagging on public transportation in sweltering June heat. The comfortable air conditioned MBZ minivan was so much easier. Rolando suggested an awesome lunch at La Carbonara (see review). This day was charged at an hourly rate. Our third day was a last minute addition. He had a cancellation so we decided to have Rolando bring us to the Umbria region where there were medieval towns. This included stopping at Assisi, Civita, and Orvieto. These were magnificent to visit. Again Rolando suggested an awesome place to eat in Assisi. This was charged at a flat rate. Rolando takes pride in his vehicles keeping them clean. He stocks them with water for you and the vehicle is WIFI equipped. Rolando is very personable. He gave unsolicited information about places we were passing by so we had not just a driver but a tour guide. I totally recommend him!

The other people on our tour were also devout Catholic. I believe the tour was done by Maria Lazara. We do not know her name because she did not bother to introduce herself, nor did she ask our names (aside from checking our family name off). We met at the statue and then without any introduction to our tour, nor introduction to the St John of Laterna Church, she marched off in front of us to the Church's portico. It was a bad start. That's the main complaint: she gave no introduction to the tour or any site, she gave no church or historic context on how things came to be or how they evolved. She gave no Catholic perspective. A tour guide needs to be a storyteller! And I expected a guide well-versed in church history, both religious and urban! Instead, it was a bunch of random historic facts. She primarily spent her time pointing out symbolism in the paintings and mosaics. Clearly, she majored in art history, and the history of Christianity was a boring sideline to her. She liked pointing out that Laterna was populated early, while most of Rome was countryside - but why? How did that change? Where did Catholics live and why did they move? Why were these churches chosen for their Holy Doors? Why only 4 doors? She told us the Laterna Holy Door was an original bronze and a couple more facts and then we marched through as it were nothing. Nothing about why it is special that they are open, how Catholics view this moment, etc. IT IS SPECIAL. In speaking about the Jubilee, the only thing she said was that the Pope first started it once every 100 years, and since the Roman townspeople made money on tourism from the incoming pilgrims, they moved it to every 33 years or when they wanted. That's it - Jubilees were about making tourism dollars. End of her story. None of our group of 3 heard that the Sacred Steps were brought from Jerusalem and why, and where they were placed originally. All she did was say "it is not a hard job to move stairs." THEY ARE SPECIAL. She just said: you can up if you want, I'll wait here on my phone. Again, her specialty seemed to be art history not Catholic traditions or history, and 75% of the time, she spoke about symbolism. The blue and yellow of Mary, the keys of St. Peter. That's fine but there was no narrative, no church history. The tour ended exactly at 12 p.m. Clearly, she was glad to be out of there. Another note - yes, her English vocabulary was good, but she spoke sing-song Italian style and it was hard to follow her. She does not have the cadence of an English speaker.
