The one quality that stands out above anything else is the love and empathy that Bonnie has for all the dogs that she cares for. It is this single driving force that allows us to trust our beloved dog/child with her on a daily basis. Our doggy is a handful in that he is very loud and rambunctious but while with Bonnie he is a perfect little citizen. He loves her as much as we do which is evident every morning as he pulls and claws us towards her home with all his might. Last year we went overseas but were on the verge of canceling because we were so worried about our dog being without us for two weeks. City Strut to the rescue as Bonnie cared and loved for our dog well above and beyond the call of duty. To ease our hearts and minds, Bonnie sent us photos daily so that we could see the love of our lives and enjoy our trip at the same time! In closing, Bonnie is a saint who speaks to the dogs with her heart and values their safety above anything else. The thing about Bonnie is that she doesn't just do this for a "job". You can tell that dogs are her passion. She has a skill with dogs that go way beyond just being a "dog walker". My dogs see her as a third parent, and I absolutely shudder at the thought of anybody else taking care of them. Aunt Bonnie is a treasure! We were so lucky to spot her downtown one day, just gliding down the block with a pack of pups. She was in complete control! My two little 5-month old poodles were total nutjobs, so I had to stop and ask her secret. She gave me her card, my pups went to daycare with her the following week, and we have never looked back! I am super picky about my pups and there is no one I trust more than Bonnie to take care of them. But Aunt Bonnie isn't just a dogwalker or a petsitter. She taught my new pups manners, how to walk nicely on a leash, and she was super pivotal in our housebreaking training. She truly has a gift. How could you ask for more??? read more

Bonnie and the City Strut team are absolute pros when it comes to walking & boarding our dogs. Bonnie truly cares about each pet and understands them on a deeper level. I never felt bad going out of town and leaving our babies with Bonnie, because they loved staying with her it was like dropping them off at summer camp. I was able to relax on vacation because I knew they were being cared for and loved on. She is also a trainer so she knows how to deal with behavior issues--one of our dogs had some leash problems so I couldn't trust just anyone to walk her and I knew she was in good hands with Bonnie and team. I would absolutely recommend City Strut to other dog owners that want more for their dogs than your run-of-the-mill walkers and institutional boarding. read more

My two Bichon Frises, Bertram and Honoria, have been going to daycare at City Strut since 2007 and they board with Bonnie whenever I am away. After a rather traumatic boarding incident with another pet sitter, Bonnie was referred to me. I am so grateful that I found her and my dogs simply adore her. Honoria is shy and wary of strangers and she took to Bonnie immediately which was all the endorsement I needed! Bonnie was instrumental in potty-training Bertram (who began attending City Strut when he and his sister were 6 months old). Bonnie's patience and skill in training my dear, stubborn Bertram was what impressed me the most when I first found City Strut. She has a way with animals and they respond to her very well. City Strut is the only daycare I have found that actually takes dogs on walk outside several times a day instead of just leaving them in a large indoor area. This feature was essential in helping to maintain a potty training schedule and socialized my young dogs. I love knowing that my dogs are cared for by Bonnie at her house and not in a cage when they board with her. I have gone away for 3 week stretches and every time I return, my dogs are happy, healthy, and clearly well cared for. Bertram and Honoria have made wonderful four-legged friends at City Strut and are always thrilled when I open the crate door in my car and they see Bonnie on the sidewalk ready to spirit them away for a fun day at daycare. I don't trust anyone else with my dogs. Over the years, Bonnie's love for my dogs is apparent to me every time she sees them and their love for her is even more apparent every time they set eyes on her. booking a 3 day stay, weeks before our trip, having bonnie tell us that our dogs will be staying at a different location 3 days before our trip was a bit of a shocker. when i expressed concern for my older dog in a new environment, she cancelled our reservation and left us in a very stressful and annoying situation. we weren't 100% happy with our first experience with bonnie over christmas and new years, but thought since the dogs already know her, it will be better than putting them with someone new. Especially for my old girl. Who gets anxious in her old age. We have always gotten my dad to watch our dogs, so having a stranger was new to us. And when we picked them up from Bonnie's after the first time, we saw that things were weird, but we blamed 'the stress' or 'the excitement'. Now that we have had a really great positive dog sitting experience to compare bonnie's to, we see how WEIRD bonnie's actually was............... a few things... -Bonnie told us that our dogs would be the only ones at her house when she watched them, but would send pictures of lots of other dogs. My older girl has issues with others dogs, so I didn't want this, but since it seemed like she was getting along with them, i let it go.........mistake #1. -Our dog beds were totally destroyed when she gave them back...another dog that was at her house was destructive....... ? -Our dogs were completely out of it when we picked them up. At the time I thought they were tired, but it was only upon return from this past trip where we used a really great dog sitter, that i realized how bizarre that was. Upon return from this trip (with a different company watching them) my dogs were totally normal, nothing weird, nothing different.....When we picked them up from Bonnie, they were so WEIRD! My husband would joke and say 'i think bonnie drugged our dogs', thats how weird they were. I think i might believe that now....... Maybe she uses Rescue Remedy to relax them, i don't know. but something is up. their eyes were slightly glazed over and they moved lowly. Really off energy. -also, another thing that got weirder as i saw what normal was with someone watching my dogs..... both my dogs had diarrhea when i got them from Bonine's house. every night my older girl pooped on the floor. for 3 nights, before I took her to the vet. She has IBD and needs to follow a strict diet. the vet suggested it was nerves, so i let it go......she was put on antibiotics to calm the IBD so she wouldn't have another episode. we never got to the bottom of what triggered it or why, another thing we just let go. so although our dogs, after a few days, were back to normal and ok after Bonnie's, there was something up. can't put my finger on it. but my dogs were weird when i got them...the diarrhea, their eyes, their energy. it was bizarro world. the service I used this time (because bonnie cancelled) was awesome, Iris took such good care of them, no diarrhoea, no glazed over eyes, no 'out of it' behaviour. they were their happy go lucky selves when i got home. and i am so grateful that Bonnie was so unprofessional and cancelled on me last minute. So my dogs didn't have to go through that again...... i don't think you should use this service, and for the people who do, someone should get to the bottom of what she is giving dogs to 'relax' them. Because I don't think that should be aloud. read more

Bonnie is such an awesome dog walker/sitter. My hard to handle pups are always happy and healthy after a stay with Auntie Bonnie! She really knows how to handle dogs and gives them individualized and specialized attention and my dogs love spending time with her! They especially love when she does outings with them like hiking while I'm away! read more

Bonnie is trustworthy and an absolute lifesaver when it comes to owning dogs downtown. She has an incredible way with dogs and my Sophie just can't wait to jump out of the car every morning she sees her. I never doubt that Bonnie is doing exactly as she says daily and that Sophie gets great exercise and interaction with other dogs, which is extra difficult for a large breed dog. Claiming any kind of meds are administered at City Strut to relax dogs is absurd. She's just that good. You are in safe and capable hands at City Strut! read more

Bonnie is amazing with my dog Stella. She has been taking care of my girl for several years now. Stella always comes home exhausted from daycare and has so many doggie friends because of it. Bonnie has also been a lifesaver more than once rescuing Stella when I've been stuck somewhere. read more

I am seriously delinquent in writing this review, but it is critical that I tell the world--THIS is the only place we would ever leave our dogs in our absence. We went abroad for two weeks and couldn't find care that we were comfortable with for our two dogs (both super smart and manipulative mutts--one large, one small). I will be 100% honest--I wasn't entirely certain, when I met Bonnie, if I was making the right choice. Can't say why . . . I was just trepidatious. Part of that may be that we had never left our dogs in any one's care before. I'll make the rest of this brief: the end result is that our dogs came back to us better than when we left them (better behaved, mellower, happier, and CLEANER!). I'm not even sure they missed us at all. I was expecting them to be elated when we returned. They were happy-ish to see us, but just as happy where they were. Bonnie bonded with our pups in the most important ways. There is NO place I would trust other than with Bonnie. I keep looking for excuses for them to go back to camp City Strut. Don't worry Bonnie, they'll be back! read more
