My cousin recently had her wedding here, and the building is beautiful outside and inside. You walk in to a big staircase leading upstairs into one of the rooms where the ceremony takes place. All the rooms available for the ceremony to take place are grand, and the experience is equivalent to having your wedding in a church, I'd say. A really sweet place to seal your vows.

If you're having a small wedding with less than 50 people attending the ceremony, its dirt cheap to get married here - only just over a 100 quid which includes the notice fee. Hiring one of the larger room costs a bit more. I ended up getting married in a church in Somerset but if I had decided to married in Bristol and hadn't suddenly had 200 guests to invite, this would have been a serious contender, especially with the rummer nearby to give you the dutch courage so you dont do a runner on the big day ;-)

We had pre-bought tickets for a specific entry time, but there were tickets available at the door as well. I wouldn't chance it though. The line was short to get in at our time and the audio guide is included as part of the admission price. made the tour interesting and the facts provided were the perfect amount of detail. There was a kid's version too which was great! We were there a little over an hour and at the end you can taste some of the bath water, which was disgusting!!

The palace has evolved through the centuries with incredible additions especially the defensive walls, and surrounding moat, and gate house, creating an almost magical Disney-Grimm's Fairy tale and magical castle story book setting. The state rooms and commons are fun and amusing to wander, as they are a bit more modern and humble. I'm not normally a garden guy, but the palace gardens are 14-acre gardens tranquil retreat featuring numerous varieties of flowers, and include a reflecting pond and ancient wells. £20 for a combination ticket to the Bishops Palace and also Wells Cathedral, well worth it. But if you're short on time and/or money, you can at least see the other moat and some of the inner walls for free.

Even if architecture isn't necessarily your thing - it's a spectacular and impressive sight, and an iconic landmark here in the city. Also walking is good for you, so grab a coffee and meander through the city (maybe pack a picnic, a good book, and a blanket to enjoy in the expansive parkland opposite the houses after you've take a few photos). So what is it? Thirty identical terraced townhouses of Bath stone in a perfect crescent shape created by John Wood, The Younger in the mid-ish 1700's. And yes, you'll probably see the ha-ha - it's a low stone structure that separates/partitions the upper and lower lawns (allowing for an uninterrupted, sweeping view of Royal Victoria Park, and - once upon a time - it stopped the livestock from wandering up to the building itself). There's several different incredible views of The Crescent throughout the city - walking up to it initially from Brock St, for example, is pretty breathtaking the first time; looking up at The Crescent through the trees, past the green space along Royal Ave; and, from Alexandra Park (which gives you views of all the staple Bath spots).

Lacock Abbey in the village of Lacock, Wiltshire, England, was founded in the early 13th century by Ela, Countess of Salisbury, as a nunnery of the Augustinian order. Later, it became a quirky country house of various architectural styles within its own woodland grounds. It was a home for the Talbot family, including William Henry Fox Talbot 19th century, famous for his contributions towards the invention of the photographic negative. Millenium Square is quite a stunning open space in the city center. It is always filled with kids…read moreplaying around in the shiny silvery water features, flatland BMXers practicing their tricks in the middle of the square, or just people sitting around the benches and steps, having a good relax. This square plays host to a variety of things, such as a Sunday art market and numerous festivals when summer rolls by. There is a computery device on one of the square that provides some minutes of fun, where it points to any planet you type in, and tells you how many kilometers it is away from the earth. Interesting, but I think it gets abused by the drunk masses on a Friday and Saturday night. In the floor of the square is an analemma - lights that show the path of the sun as viewed from the earth. On the benches at another end of the square, are brass statues of historical figures, one of which I know is William Tyndale translating the New Testament. All these little quirks of Millenium Square give it its soul, despite it being just a big, flat, bare open space. Thumbs up!

The 9 chandeliers within the building are priceless. The entry fee enables the visitor to see the costume museum in the basement with a changing display of the collection and loan items.
