We booked asession for my son as a present and for somthing different. He has skied before quite recently but I hadn't skied since I was at school. You are provided with skis, boot and poles with the price of the session. You can hire trousers and jackets, we wore our own waterproof ones. It is important that you take your own gloves as they DO NOT hire them and they are expensive to buy. Believe me you will need them as it is very cold inside the dome. We really enjoyed ourselves and since we have been have booka weeks ski in March.

Eh. I can't get that excited by Snozone, which is sad because that was pretty much the entire point…read moreof going. It is impressive - seeing a high slope covered in what appears to be something like snow in the middle of Milton Keynes is unexpected. However, this is the second time I'm trying skiing, and the first time was on a dry slope, so I can't comment really on the snow quality as some others have done. I was pretty psyched by the set up though. My main issue was the lesson. As complete beginners, my boyfriend and I booked onto one lesson to see if we would like it. In total, the lesson and clothing hire for both of us came to £90 - so basically quite a big deal for us. We were there mainly because when I left my previous work, they gave me a voucher as they knew we were considering trying skiing, so we didn't take the full whack, but it would clearly be a serious consideration if you wanted to do the whole course. I appreciate it must be expensive maintaining such a facility, but on the other hand, if you're going to commit to spending several hundred pounds on skiing lessons, I imagine you might as well just go on a skiing holiday. Basically I thought the lesson was way too slow. People have different learning levels, I get that, but really we did so little that it was hard to get really enthusiastic. In a 90 minute session, I would estimate that I went down a slope about 10 times - and by slope, I mean the lowest 15 metres of it. The vast majority of the lesson was spent waiting around. My only point of comparison is the lesson I had on a dry slope several years ago, where I distinctly remember being a lot freer to go down when I was confident enough, and we covered things like turning pretty early on, which didn't even get reached at Snozone. It was just quite a disappointing experience that neither felt like a special, exciting treat nor gave us much insight into whether we would like actual skiing. PLUS - just to note that apparently gloves are mandatory on the slope, which I don't think I saw on any of the booking materials. We happened to have brought some, but if you don't then you can't hire them there, so you'd have to buy them for £30.

At time of writing Logan's Den has been open 1 month. It is a 'soft play kids cafe'…read more I visited on a Monday morning at approx 11.30am and was the only person there, although we were joined a bit later by two other mums and their children. The soft play is split into 2 sections one for under 2s and the other for 2-9 years. You pay £3 for 2 hours play. When investigating this I though this sounded a great deal a nice wee cuppa for me while my 2.5 year old son had a play. In reality the softplay area is miniscule by far the smallest I have ever seen! I really grudged paying £3 and though an absolute maximum would have been £2. For over 2s there is little to provide any stimulation. The soft play comprises Ground Level a series of 'punch bags' that lead to a dead end(!) and small ball pool which has the exit of the slide. Level 1 big birthing ball type things to dodge round and entrance to a circular slide. The slide area is very very dark and my son could not be persuaded to try it. Indeed the owner said her own son thought it was too dark. The under 2s section has a small free standing slide, 'small' ball pool, rocking horse, play mat and selection of books and games. My son is only 2.5 and I can't ever imagine him wanting to spend 2 hours playing here. My daughter is 8 and wouldn't even consider taking her. In terms of the cafe there is a small selection of made to order sandwiches, toasties etc but nothing that made me think 'wow, that looks/sounds tasty'. They could do with a muck better selection of homemade cakes etc. Kids meals consist of foods that kids actual eat and at great prices too so this was one real plus. All in all I wanted to be able to say that I really liked this place because the idea is great and just want the area needs. However I can't. It was okay but nothing more and could be done so much better.

The cozy friendly atmosphere and staff make us feel very welcome every time we go. The menu is simple and great ideas for kids. It's actually foods kids eat for a change and for less than £2.50 for a little meal with drink! We always get food here as its as cheap as eating at home. And having the 2 hours for £3.00 is fantastic. All the other places charge you for going over your hour, which of your eating you always do! But here they are so relaxed they have a standard £3.00 to pay and we never feel pressured to leave even when this time is up. We have 2 hours out, food, drinks and entrance normally for under £20.00. That's unheard of anywhere these days. The kids love it and we love the fact they can play safely where we can see them at all times. We will continue spending plenty of time at Logan's Den along with many of our friends who say exactly the same as us. Amazing value for money, very clean, safe and friendly, thank you Logan's Den. A real asset to Baldock!!

I cannot rave enough about Finkley Down Farm. I don't even have kids I can use as an excuse - I…read moresimply come here to relax and spend some time with the animals. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful and the abundance of cute greedy animals desperate for you to feed them is nothing short of delightful. Their animals range from goats and sheep to chickens to cows right over to the more unusual llamas and highland cows. Even if you're not into getting close to the animals or feeding them the buckets of food available at the ticket office, just watching them mooch around is still fun and relaxing. The llama took somewhat of a disliking to me (was it something I said?) and stormed at me, looking like it could easily clear the fence and gain its freedom. I wasn't going to hang around to find out. One look at my pathetic retreating hide running off into the distance was enough to reduce its anger to mere disdain, and instead he decided to spit all over me. In some sort of random heroic act, the pig sharing its pen flung itself at the llama as if to take the blow for me, and rather than reflect on the llama soaking I'd been given, I instead watched this pig take one for the team. Right in the eye, no less. From hereonin, I shall name this pig SuperPig. If you do have kids you can pretend are the reason for visiting, there's plenty to keep them occupied. Other than the animals you can feed, there are talks and handling sessions with some of the smaller or baby pets throughout the day. There's also a nice adventure playground and a couple of trampolines to wear them out on too. There's a small gift shop and a place to buy some food, as well as a picnic area if you're sensible enough to bring your own food. I love this place and can't wait to go back when it reopens for the season next year.

Lots to see and many activities laid on for the children. Arm them with a bucket of food from the entrance first though or you will find yourself running back for some! On site cafe sells everything from fish & chips to ice cream or just a cuppa. Toilets well sign posted and clean. Lots of basins and hand gel dotted around for after you have touched the animals. Nice staff who are kid friendly. Congratulations to the farm for keeping the gift shop prices low, lots of souvenirs on sale for under £2.

Fantastic soft play fun for little ones…read more If your little rugrat is crawling then it's £2.50, if they're walking then it's £3.75. There's a bouncy castle, trampoline, slides, bubble machine that's switched on every now and then. Plus the staff bring sticks and hoola hoops out and you sit and sing the childrens' choice of nursery rhymes, which they love! There are morning and afternoon sessions depending on which day of the week you go. It's the same price, whatever time of the session you arrive so you can stay for just half an hour or a couple of hours although it's likely your little one (and you!) will be knackered after about 45 minutes and will have a good long nap when you get home (it's well worth the money just for that!) To find it, once you're in the leisure centre, follow the signs round past the main counter, to the left, turn right through the double doors, past the stairs, then turn the corner round to the left and then turn right and it's down the corridor. You'll probably have spotted the row of buggies outside it by this point. If you have one you'll need to leave it outside. Buzz the buzzer to be let in. You'll need to put shoes and coats etc in a tub (for obvious reasons you can't wear shoes in there) and if you want to take photos while you're in there you'll need to ask the staff for a form to fill in giving the names of the children you'll be photographing. Remember to take a snack and beaker for your child to have before or after as they'll be thirsty, and it's worth taking one for you too. Following your child around for that long is thirsty work.
