Bang for your buck: 8/10 Quality: 10/10…read moreService: 10/10 Ambiance/Location: 10/10 Overall: 10/10 I've skipped going here every time I've been to Cleveland because I don't like markets like this. They feel corny and gimmicky and are usually overpriced and overhyped and you have to stand to eat anything you order. However, I was very wrong in assuming that is the vibe of the West Side Market. This market has everything from fresh produce to the finest and freshest cuts of meat to pretzels and cake pops and everything in between. Nothing about this place is overhyped and underperforming. The vendors are incredible and there's such a value to the goods they're selling in the Cleveland community. Will 100% come back, and if you've been sleeping on this market like I was, stop what you're doing and make a trip !

It was a highlight of the trip! The market is right downtown in a gorgeous old building, make sure to look at the ceilings. There are public parking areas all around outside, but it does get busy. There are also side buildings and outdoor stalls nearby, so be sure to check them out. Inside is rows upon rows of amazing local vendors with food to enjoy there, or many items to buy and take home. Meat counters, fresh vegetables and fruit, sauces, Middle Eastern food, Greek, Mexican, Gyros, sandwiches, baked goods, salads and so much more are all over. Even stalls that repeat the same types of items have their own unique spin and history. It's busy, with people everywhere looking and enjoying their purchases. Prices are reasonable, especially how fresh and local everything is. I bought a bunch of small things to eat while we walked, together we bought shishkabobs and steak to enjoy at home the following day. It's a great place to shop local!

Found my new produce stand at the WSM--done and done…read more I'm a CSA gal, Fresh Fork to be exact, but sometimes you just need some extra ingredients and that's where Rooted In Cleveland comes in. Here there is no question where your produce is coming from--most likely it's from across the street at Ohio City Farm! Yep: the farm that helps refugees find work and teaches them to farm to make money (Refugee Responce)... the farm space that helps people in need find fresh produce while also supplying local restaurants in Ohio City with tons of homegrown goodies. That farm! The stand has pretty much all seasonal items, but when I stopped by last week they had everything I was looking for. Herbs, root veggies, tomatoes, greens--yum! I'm not sure what the stand will look like in the winter months, but I'm sure they'll have something out there that's delicious. Their FB page says it best, "We're a seasonally and sustainably-oriented produce stand at the West Side Market providing local and organically-minded specialty produce." Prices were way cheaper than Dave's Supermarket and pretty on point with the rest of the stands. But what really stands out? No yelling or selling! That's right--no one at the stand will try to sell you or trick you into buying overly ripened produce they don't let you see first before they throw in a bag. In general, just picture this: You're fighting your way through the produce wing at WSM on a Saturday afternoon, then you turn the corner to suddenly find a peaceful place where you can take a breath of fresh air and buy bad ass local produce. Yes, that was a bit of a run-on, but you get the point. Hint: It's near the Ohio City Blooms stand.

This is a little gem right inside Middleburg Heights on Pearl Road!…read more It's literally a white "shed" that's around 300+ square ft. nestled between two houses with designated parking all around their place! It's really all they need and there is ALWAYS a lot to choose from! The kids/people working there were just as inviting to being friendly and MOST of all I didn't see a SINGLE one of them on their phones wasting time! They were always working, moving things around or watching the streets as I noticed what they must experience daily. People use their generous parking lot as a 'turn around'. I noticed that happened twice as we were there but they could have been looking as well and decided to not park. Okay, I'll be very honest here I'm surprised NO ONE has reviewed this hidden little gem before! It's a DECENT little produce stand in such a nice neighborhood around several businesses (the FIRST time we noticed this place I turned around in a BMW dealership parking lot less than a mile down the road and came back!) that haven't taken advantage of sharing this place. Also, I was torn between between 4-5 stars because I first started to compare their prices to Flea Market produce (you ALWAYS find better prices there because they don't want to load the car back up!) which wasn't fair to this place because they have their own spot, storage and parking. Plus, I can EASILY spend 30 minutes here from the moment I park to the time I start my car back up again! With a decent selection of fruits, veggies and more in their produce, this little 'white gemstone' shines among several other BIG businesses in the surrounding area! Check them out!

New Day Cleveland on Fox 8 had a story on these guys in studio. A Rep came in and discussed all the…read moreCSA options and the what they do. They had a promotion that you can get 2 weeks for the price of 1 week and try this out. So I decided to try. Last week I got my first box. I chose the small vegetarian box. It's $29 bucks a week. So I got it for $19 bucks a week. My next box is this week. I got kale, zucchini, cucumbers, dill, blueberries, potatoes, kohlrabi, beets, peas, and an onion. Then we bought chocolate chips cookies and also a bag of english muffins. I made potato salad with the red potatoes and kohlrabi, and dill. We had breakfast sandwiches with the muffins they are big and really good! And I've made the various other veggies throughout the week. I am looking forward to this weeks box. I pick up at the Hudson stop. The lady who helped us was very nice. And they set up in a large space so you can see them and it's a good large window of time to get your stuff. Overall good experience and the veggies were fresh and good. I like that you're getting this from the source farmer. I like supporting a local farmer. Depending on your time and your means this could be a good alternative to shopping at corporate stores. Or maybe if you hate shopping for veggies. They have carnivore boxes and also vegan boxes. I chose the vegetarian because we get meat from a butcher. So this could be your shopping for the week in some cases. Check out the website and see if this is right for you.

It has grown over the years to offer far more than just produce: dairy, bread products, canned and fermented, baked goods, meats, prepared foods...and on and on. The customer service is personal and prompt. They go out of their way to be accommodating. The value is outstanding. No way I could purchase the same amount or quality at a local grocery chain. The owners also clearly care about their farming partners as much as they care about their customers; the weekly newsletter that accompanies the weekly offering often highlights a farmer and their product and shares insights on what it takes to produce honest, local food. I have looked for CSAs in MI and WA state for my adult kids and there is nothing available as extensive as Fresh Fork. It is a true gem in NEO.
