The interest rate on their credit card is lower than all of my other cards. They have tried to stay current by offering a mobile app and you can now pay your loans with an outside bank if you so choose. My company does not offer direct deposit, and I have to pay a $15 monthly fee to keep my Chase Bank account open here in Illinois. BFG doesn't charge a fee. I would recommend BFG Credit Union to anyone looking to avoid big banks and their outrageous fees.

I could write a book on all the things that I've had to deal with over the past years with them. I wouldn't care if the loan I took out was a 30% interest rate! The level of stupidity of these people is beyond me! And might I add I have NEVER wrote a review like this. But thanks to a global pandemic here we are. I signed a piece of paper to help skip a payment last month. And I assumed that it was for 3 months like our credit cards and mortgage payments etc. However I get a past due in the mail. No it wasn't for much, but I was still extremely confused. I called, actually got the person on the phone that was on the letter and she said I needed to talk to another person because they handled the application for skipping a payment during the pandemic. Well she said that she was on the phone and to leave her a message. I did this on May 8th. I didnt hear anything back so I figured they shorted it all out because they are known for mistakes like these. Well I just received a phone call asking me for a payment. I stated that I left a message and I was told they were short staffed. But yet you're calling me back? She proceeded to say that I haven't made a payment since January but yet the past due is forty something??!! My payments are around $130 a month, so can you explain to me why my payment you're sending me is past due is only forty some dollars and you're telling me over the phone that I haven't made a payment since January??!! These are the kinds of things I deal with ALL the time. The incompetence is so surreal to me. I asked why did I sign that paper then for help during the pandemic and for not reporting to the credit bureau's, she then stated we have no authority on reporting the the bureau's. I'm sorry, so why does the mortgage, utilities, and credit cards have that authority?! And why does this piece of paper I have state differently from THE MEDINA COUNTY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION?! The women proceeds to ask you can you make a partial payment?! Like I'm a magician and I can make it appear?! Maybe they have people that lie to them, I dont know. Like if she says over and over again I'm going to give in or something?! All I know is I would rather let this loan and my credit go then deal such incompetence. And my husband said maybe I should talk to a manager. SHE WAS A MANAGER!!! And all these 5 stars I dont believe are actually customers. DO NOT GO HERE. They will harrass you and not even give you the correct information!!!

Back in the day, you received free checks when you opened a new checking account; now you are required to spend additional money for those checks...you are literally spending your own money so that you can spend your money- wtf!? With this particular location, it is a real hassle to get into the parking lot because of the poor location of the entrance/exit & the amount of traffic. However, I feel their customer service somewhat makes up for this...unless you have to use their poorly designed ATM. If it is raining, snowing or very windy you will get clobbered as they have an overhang only. And if the roof (or lack of) doesn't annoy you then the giant yellow poll will as I've watched & cringed behind many drivers who can't seem to steer clear due to it's too close location. There is also only one ATM so convenience clearly wasn't taken into account when this machine was installed.

I called and spoke to Sheri and she walked me through the process. Unfortunately I did not qualify the first time (4 months ago), and she said she would keep my application till September so I could apply again. I honestly totally forgot about it and Sheri sent me an email asking me if I would like to try again. Of course I said yes and this time i did. Sheri walked me through the process and had an answer for me within 12hrs. She explained to me what I needed and that I could email or fax it over since my work schedule is hectic. I went today and signed the papers to refinance my motorcycle. She also informed me that I qualified for a higher cash back percentage. I was more than pleased. The whole process took about 30min to sign all the paperwork and get my account set up. She was very helpful and answered all of my questions. She also offered to write the credit bureaus to help me get rid of some of the things that were showing on my report from years ago that i settled and hadnt come off yet. The rest of the staff there was awesome. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to open an account or refinance anything.
