She not only helped my son open his account but also took the time to walk him through the Chase app and explain how to use all the helpful tools. Branch of F&M Bank are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Not to long ago, I experienced fraud with my ATM card. I called F&M right away and was connected with Mrs. Trisha Barkman. What a gem! She helped me cancel my card, apply for a new one and worked with me to do all the thing one must do in this situation. The most important thing she did was keep me calm and she was so patient and sweet. I appreciated that so much. When I moved to CA from FL people told be me not to bank here (I was in Hilmar at the time). They said the bank was too small. I have never regretted staying with them and this is 30 years later. With people like Trisha who is the epitome of amazing customer service why would I go any where else!! Upon arrival, I was immediately told there was no availability due to staffing limitations. I noted that there was still an hour left before closing, and the branch was not nearly as busy as described. In fact, I was the only person waiting, with just one individual ahead of me. Despite this, I was told I would need to return another time. When I explained that staffing and scheduling challenges are not the customer's responsibility and that I was willing to wait, the response I received felt dismissive, including a scoffing tone. The manager also openly cited staffing shortages as the reason for not assisting me. From a customer standpoint, internal staffing issues should not be communicated as justification for denying service during normal business hours. Instead, leadership should step in and help address customer needs, especially when demand is clearly manageable. Additionally, shortly after this interaction--around 4:15 PM--I observed an employee being sent on break. Given that the branch closes at 5:00 PM, this seemed like an unusual decision, particularly when customers were still waiting for assistance. I also want to emphasize that this does not appear to be an isolated incident. A review of publicly available feedback shows a pattern of similar customer experiences. We started banking with Valley First when they were located on Geer Road. There seemed to be a high turnover as there were always new tellers. I must also say that while we usually were able to get our questions answered, there were a few situations that made us strongly consider taking our business elsewhere. They have since moved to a new location with new employees who seem to be more permanent. The new location is also much larger with more parking which is a plus. The first time we entered the building, we were immediately greeted by one of the employees and asked if we needed assistance, which we did. We were promptly taken to one of the cubicles to discuss our financial business. The employee was extremely pleasant and professional. Our questions were answered and were able to leave feeling confident about the outcome. A few days later we received a follow up phone call to give us an update and let us know the situation had been taken care of. Every additional time we have returned, we have had similar experiences with great service. We are very happy that we decided to stay with Valley First Credit Union for our banking needs.

Their are pro's and Cons of having a small credit union. I will list the Cons. The hours of operation, closed on weekends. If you have a question you better call before 5 pm. If you go out of town and want to take out more money then allowed at a ATM, Sorry Charlie. The reason why I am writing this review is because of the way they handle ACH payments. A payment that is taken out on the same day as a deposit will result in a overdraft fee if there is no money in the account even if the deposit is the same day. For an example. Say you have direct deposit and you know the money will be in the account. If you have a transaction or multiple transactions before your direct deposit is in there, you will receive a overdraft charge, or multiple overdraft charges. Other banks like BOFA, or Wells Fargo I'm sure even chase does not do business like this. I usually only write yelp reviews when I receive great service or terrible service. The customer service lady that I spoke to the first time was so rude and not helpful is the reason why I am writing this review. If you are looking for a great refinanced car loan they have great rates but banking, I would stay away.
