I unfortunately have to lower my star rating for this particular Sheetz, and…read moreprobably many of the Sheetz I have reviewed over time, and the main reason for that is the terrible, awful, poorly thought-out decision to stop doing fresh brewed tea. Even worse, it was replaced by Gold Peak tea, which in the south, is like replacing your grandma's fried chicken with dino nuggetz. If you read my original review, brewed tea was one of the main reasons I picked Sheetz over all other gas stations, when I had the option. I liked knowing when I was on the road I could pretty reliably pull into one of these, fill my tank, and get a tea to sip on while I drive. Now? That is totally gone, and Sheetz has lost whatever competitive advantage it had over other gas stations on my routes. Now it will probably lose out to whichever gas station is closest to a McDonald's, because for all of the flaws that fast food chain has... serving up a cheap cup of brewed tea is not one of them. Heck, may even get free fries with that tea through the app. Depends how crazy I'm feeling. Everything else I said still applies, but unfortunately in my case, this was the one thing that kept me specifically coming to a Sheetz. I hope they decide to reverse course.

Unfortunately, I can only give this Murphy Express one star because the gas pumps pumped very…read moreslowly and kept prematurely shutting off. So, not only did I spend more time than usual trying to fill up, but I didn't even leave with a full tank because the pump kept shutting off. I had to try and guess when my tank was close to full. I also had to be careful not to overfill it (because overfilling/topping off is damaging to cars). I used pump #8. I heard the guy that was using the pump on the other side of me (behind pump #8) and the guy who pulled up behind me both complain that their pumps were slow too. Something was wrong. I chose to fill up here because it's conveniently located just off I-85 at exit 124 (South Elm-Eugene Street), on the south side of the Greensboro Urban Loop. A lot of Murphy Express locations are close to Walmart Supercenters. There's a Walmart just on the other side of the interstate from this location. Murphy Express is part of the larger "Murphy USA" chain. Most Murphy USA gas stations are located adjacent to Walmart stores. "Murphy Express" locations are bigger and more like traditional gas stations and convenience stores. This location has 24 pumps, so it's sizable. During our visit on an ordinary Sunday around noon, this place was busy. I was lucky to find an open pump right away. Some people had to wait. Maybe there were a lot of cars because the pumps were slow. The gas prices were OK. This is Murphy Express store #8553. The staff was friendly, smiling, and had good attitudes, though you could tell they were a little frustrated--probably with management. I overheard them in the cooler talking about not being able to run things the way they wanted, which makes me think there are some operational issues behind the scenes. The bathroom wasn't great--definitely could use some more attention. There was graffiti scratched into the mirror, and it wasn't the cleanest, but it wasn't outright disgusting either. If I were ranking it against other Sheetz locations, I'd give it a 3 or 4 out of 10. It didn't stand out in any way, but it wasn't bad enough to avoid. If I needed gas or a quick stop, I'd come back, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. One thing I would say, that was better than most gas stations in general is the customer here were super friendly.

After a few minutes of searching their very large menu, I discovered they no longer have chicken salad on the M-T-O menu. So sad. Their CS is good. We settled on 2 for $6 half subs - looked like a good deal. It was a great sandwich. Loaded with ham amd cheese, toasted. Lots of condiment and veggie choices. We ordered mayo and honey mustard, lettuce and tomato. It was a great sandwich - better than Subway and at half the price. For sides, we order a cupbof fries and a cup of onion petals. Both were well done, just the way we like it! Staff was generally friendly. And offered to help with the touch screen ordering system. The downfall came when we decided to eat in and use their dining area. We walked into an office, new employee training session! Almost every table was taken. One by a manager with a laptop. Another by two prospective filling out paperwork on tablets. Another by someone else in a Sheetz shirt with a laptop, and two others by new employees being trained, and a trainer roaming the room lecturing! No one said a word to us - just continued their tasks. Surely there is an office somewhere. There was another couple trying to squeeze in and enjoy their lunch. Just not a good situation. Sheetz, if your going to offer an eat in space, keep it clean, and make your managers use an office. What a shame - for a gas station, the food at Sheetz is pretty good.
