I have been driving for a while and have a decent driving record. My policy renewal had my insurance go up by $400 a year. Insane! I worked with a representative from TD Insurance. Apparently, you need to tell the company that you have snow tires every year. Otherwise, it's one reason why my insurance rate had shot up. I wanted something better. I deserved a better rate. I did an estimate online with My Insurance Broker (MIB). Tommy Liew from MIB headquarters in Thornhill contacted me. He was great. It was my first time working with a broker. He managed to get me a great car insurance rate with CAA. I am saving $800 a year and paying what I used to on car insurance roughly twenty years ago. Wow! It was a smooth transition cancelling my policy with TD Insurance when it was up and having CAA take over this month. I recently changed banks and had to provide a voided cheque for my new chequing account. Tommy made the change automatically. He didn't confirm that he did it, but I'm guessing that things got busy when I made this request before Thanksgiving that he forgot. I am pleased with MIB so far. I am saving a decent amount of money on car insurance with CAA. I have a broker who is competent and friendly. (404)

The last review of OIBC here is 2012, long time ago. I believe that OIBC deserves a much better…read morereview. I have been a long customer with them and got no issues with them whatsoever. During my only car incident some five years ago, they had been very helpful and I found their responses were quick and very professional. In any company where there are more than one employee, there are bound to have inexperienced staff or perhaps bad apples. Any customers have the right to complain to the management and see if improvements are made. There are rooms for everyone to improve; not all customers are right! I noticed that OIBC has been making changes, young professionals are giving their best services to customers. I enjoy their professional knowledge and their care of customer services. I have no doubt to recommend my friends to give them a call while looking for a good broker for insurance matters.

I am sick of the half arsed attitude of my broker and her outrageous unwillingness to help her client. I mean what am I paying you for? For you to sit all day in the office to tell me little lies and fibs every time I call just so you can put me off for another week before I call again? Call again only to find out that you did absolutely none of the things that you have promised me, only to be told off again? Buying insurance is already a tricky enough business and dealing with a lazy and conniving broker as her only makes it that much harder and more frustrating. I hope the poor performance of this one broker is not representative of the corporation and their values in conducting business, but my trust in OIBC has definitely gone down the drain for good.
