Disappointed Beyond Belief…read more during Covid, classes at The Little Gym in TriBeCa were a pleasant respite for my boys, aged 1 and 3. In early 2021 they changed their policies and no longer accepted makeups for missed sessions, and also did not allow family members to use any of the extra sessions (which they had previously allowed) We must have missed the new update to the policies. In January of 2021, my sister in law passed away from cancer. She left behind two boys, my nephews, ages the same as my own. Long story short, we missed many of our classes during our time in mourning and supporting our family. When we did get back to resuming our sessions, we were disappointed, frustrated and shocked to find out that my nephews were not allowed to use the countless credits for classes we had racked up. In disbelief, I spoke to the General Manager, Micky, who refused to let my nephews jump into classes with my kids, "because the policies changed" and "because my nephews were not registered at The Little Gym". ***Keeping in mind, my nephews USED to be allowed to use our credits even though they were NEVER registered with The Little Gym. In further disbelief, I contacted the OWNER of The Little Gym in TriBeCa, including the memorial service info and tributes about my late sister in law who had passed away, in our communications. The owner said he was 'sorry, but would not make any exceptions despite the extra ordinary circumstances'. My hope is that after reading this, parents will stop wanting to continue to support this awful place.

There are two rooms- a bigger play area in the front and a smaller room in the back. The front room has two tables used for coloring/ playing and snack time. There is also a two level play station where it has stairs to climb up or a small scramble board to the top. There are also some various toys from puzzles, trucks, a carriage, rocking horse, Legos, soft play cushions and dress up clothes. My son was registered at NYC Elite Gymnastics last year. As a warning for all parents signing up,…read moreyou must pay for the full month of classes regardless of whether the gym cancels classes or has no classes because of holidays. No credit is issued. My son was registered for November and December. The gym did not have classes in half of November and half of December because of the holidays. They do not give you credit for the missed classes so you end up paying twice the price and the monthly tuition is pricey to begin with! I called them on this and they said they only allow make-up classes BUT (and here is the kicker) they do not track the make-up classes AND it cannot be applied to your child's future classes for the same time and date AND you have to call them the week before to schedule the class on their availability, not yours. Since my son only takes gymnastics once a week on a certain day and time, it's really hard to find a second day and time in the same week for the makeup classes because all the classes we want are usually taken (weekdays after school and weekend mornings). Since they don't even track make-up classes, it seems like most parents end up not using them anyway. This seems really shady to me. We do like the classes but as a note, please sign up for the months where there are no holidays.

My wife and I searched possible venues and were left with one option. We arrived to our local "G" gym and were met by a small environment with limited options for the children unless many more dollars were spent. With a confused heart we accepted that we would not be able to throw a first birthday for our son and we were super sad, Until...A very close friend of mine suggested kidville. I immediately sought out consultation with approximately 2 weeks till bday. We were met with warm smiles and perfect options for our son's bday. The staff at kidville took the load of the planning and supported any changes we had in mind. In comparison to their competitors, Kidville union Square was a dream come true. Kidville provided cake(which was beautiful), pizza, juice, art activity, gym play, cake/eatting time, invitations, party favors, and balloons for a reasonable price. We were able to add adult food for an additional small cost. The day of the party we were able to enjoy our family, friends, and most importantly our big boy. The smiling staff handled everything: set up tables, cakes, and even took the coats of our freezing families. The space was immaculate and the playtime in the gym was exciting and structured. The staff (adults with various degrees in childhood educations and experience with children) perfected the art of letting children feel free with fun while encouraging/teaching guided group play values. With the eye of an educator and mother, I was fully satisfied I waked away from the day feeling complete and the lack of stress made everything sweeter. Thank you Kidville Union Square!!! I look forward to spring time classes and many birthdays to come!
