I boarded my two six month old puppies for one day and one night at Circle Star and came away from the experience with a number of concerns. I spent $69 per dog per night for my pair to be housed in a facility called the Haven, which was touted as having a large living room, a huge play yard with agility equipment and toys, and an in-ground pool. The Haven's den mother is supposed to provide personal attention to the dogs staying there. 1) The living room could fit inside an efficiency apartment 2) the play yard was not huge and had no equipment or toys. It sat in full sun 3) I was told my dogs couldn't go swimming because all outdoor activities were suspended after noon during the summer and that included the pool because the concrete around the pool was too hot 4) I was told my dogs would be allowed to swim the next morning but that didn't happen. 5) There were 20 other dogs staying at the Haven. 6) The first den mother I met on the first day was shy or avoidant and clearly didn't want to talk to my husband or I. The second den mother on the second day didn't seem to know anything about my dogs and my dogs reacted to her as though they had never seen her before. 7) When I returned to the "resort" on the second day at 10:30 in the morning, I didn't see a single dog in the play yards, the pool or on golf carts or paddle boats. It seems, with so many dogs, the place would have been a flutter of activity on a summer morning, but outside it was as quiet as a cemetery. I paid for what is called the "Ultimate Luxury" board, which like all packages promised two play activities per dog per day, but while I was on the property, I was told there were 140 dogs there, which caught my attention because I saw no more than six employees. It just doesn't seem possible for so few employees to provide much attention to so many dogs. I never saw any pictures of my dogs posted on Facebook, either. Also, when I picked up my pups, they were desperately thirsty and drank more than a quart of water in under two minutes. I have never seen them drink more than 6 or 7 ounces at time, not even on the trail during our summer morning hikes. It really worried me and I feared they had been so completely ignored at Circle Star that were not even given sufficient water. I paid Circle Star's high prices, springing for the ultimate board, because the website led me to believe they would get playtime (including pool time) and they would get personal attention. And when I spoke with staff over the phone and on site, no one disabused me of these notions. I believe Circle Star is promising way more than they can realistically deliver and therefore, their prices are not justified. I actually feel guilty for leaving my pups with them.

Bring a lunch because you'll be waiting a looooong time. I tried using the online chat with Emily,…read morebut the response time was terrible. I got an email confirming a 4 PM appointment, and Emily, the same person from the phone and chat, told me to bring Manny a GSD in. At 4 PM, they took us to a room where we spoke to a tech, who said someone would be with us shortly. She came back to look at him and asked if we wanted an X-ray for $175 (still no vet yet) or a physical from the doctor. We chose the physical, and she said the doctor would be in soon. By 5:21, she returned to apologize, saying there's only one doctor for 10 rooms. Can you say greed? We turned around and left. The waiting room still had 10 people trying to get into one of those rooms. I don't care how many doctors or rooms you have; that's your problem. If they told me to be there at 1 AM, I'd be on time. I'd heard good things in the past, which is why I chose this place, but now that they're in the big new building, their service is going downhill. Word will get around, just like in other reviews I've seen. Terrible service!

The dr wasnt sure how to proceed since his nasal bone was snapped off and looked like nasal tissue could be damaged so he'd probably need some kind of surgery. They give me a quote on how much itll be for overnight with 200 deposit and the rest is due tomorrow. A technician tells me theyll call around 8-9 for an update. Next morning comes and no call, I call at 950 for an update. Kitten is ok, eating and drinking and I will get a call later about the next step for his face. At 1120 im in town, swing by to pay for the overnight charge they said would be due today. Theres some confusion, i dont have to pay yet and shes quoting me a higher amount than they said the highest total would be last night. I talk to a technician and she shows me my kitten. They had gone ahead and removed the broken bone and she said the dr had just got in and would call me about what to do next. And I leave. I call again at 3 because no word from anyone. The receptionist says the dr just got in and she'll call me later. My boyfriend then calls them for answers. And about 30 minutes after he called them, they tell me to come pick up the kitten. I get up there, they charge me what they said they would last night, a technician visits me about the meds they gave him and explains they had tacked down part his nose skin and to bring him in for an update visit. After that long of having him, they send him home like this. I showed my mom and she told me he should be taken to the vet. Yes he should, just not this one.
