My mother has been in several different nursing homes in three different states over the past nine…read moreyears since her stroke and Hampton Place is by far the best one she has ever stayed in. We were very lucky that she was able to be one of the first ten residents when it opened so she was able to get a lot of attention and get to know the staff very well. Unlike many of the places she has stayed a lot of the original staff are still there so she still has familiar and friendly people she knows and trusts to tend to her needs. The facility is very nicely decorated with several public areas -some of which are cozy and others that have a more luxurious feel, as well as a lovely open courtyard with a covered space in the center so the residents can get some fresh air and check out the flowers. The facility is always clean, well maintained, and - mostly importantly - well staffed. The staffing ratio and response times as well as regular check ins for the patients is excellent - far better than any other place she has stayed. The staff is always willing to help address any additional needs and special requests. We have regular meetings with her care team to discuss any changes or issues for her continuing care. There is also a wonderful activities director who plans daily activities that include crafts, light gardening, trivia, games, and bingo as well as parties and events for all the major holidays. The only problem is that the rooms are on the smaller side, but otherwise this is a fantastic nursing home - literally the best one my mother has ever lived in.

We had an overall nurse, Hunter Schulze, assigned to my husband's care. He checked in regularly and also coordinated all the specialists (physical therapy, occupational therapy -- even a shower aide!) who together eased my husband's path. Hunter stayed involved, even giving us his cell phone in case we were in trouble. We weren't, but it sure was nice to have. When Hunter thought we were doing well enough, and we agreed, he carefully transitioned us to being on our own. I can't tell you what a great experience it was -- there are no words. But I can tell you: if we're ever in such a situation again, we will ask for Washington Regional home health by name. They made all the difference to us.

However, communication was terrible. The facility he is in plus the family would never know when he was discharged. He has chronic diabetic wounds on his legs. These wounds require wraps by a Home Health nurse........His wounds would get better and he would be discharged without a word to his family or his assisted living nurse or his wound care doctor who referred him to Home Health We would only figure it out when our Home Health nurse didn't show up. I would call and find out that she had discharged him the week before. This is terrible communication not to let the facility, the family or the patient's doctor know when a patient under Washington Regional Home Health Care has been discharge...... Very unprofessional!.

Physicians Specialty Hospital is the best that I have experienced. #1 CLEAN: PSH has cleaning staff 24 hours. Hospitals have admissions and discharges at all hours. Without housekeeping staff, nurses must provide this. #2 STAFF: PSH RNs, LPNs, CNAs have more experience in the specific surgeries and individual orders by MDs who have privileges there. This increases communication and provides uniform application by all shifts. Great attitude! #3 HIGH QUALITY: a) It is quiet! You cannot hear conversation, TV, etc between rooms or from the hallway. Therefore, privacy can be 100%. b) Staffing quotas appear to be much better than mandates. This enables the higher standards of care to be carried out. c) Room space enables tasks to be performed easier and safer. 4) Physical Therapists are excellent. Mine personalized my sessions through observation, communication and demonstration. She provided printed step-by/step instructions and personal coaching tips that were applicable to my personal needs. Her coaching was encouraging and included indications for cutting back or pushing forward. 5) Meals were above average. Coffee was hot and milk was cold and ice cream was frozen. My discharge was complete. All follow-up care was scheduled; discharge instruction, prescriptions were presented by RN Supervisor.

Was experiencing high BP, upper and lower GI distress, very scary heart-related issues (tightness in chest, pain), constant diarrhea, losing weight rapidly. This had been going on for days. They literally checked my vitals (temp, BP) and nurse palpated my stomach. Then they made me wait and shoved forms at me to sign while I was still feeling distressed. One of the forms was saying that I refused treatment, which is false. They simply did not know what to do with me. An expensive lesson learned that I need to avoid this location (at least with an allergic reaction). They charged my insurance about $1020 (my portion $684) for the ER visit and another $163 (my portion ($92) for the PA I saw. I ended up having to pay over $600 for absolutely nothing: no meds, no help, no tests done, absolutely nothing. I was able to get a 20% discount off the $684 charge if I paid in full. I found that out after calling to complain. It was a weird, expensive, and disappointing experience.
